  1. It’s a joy reading everyone so positive about the team and how we’re playing.

Whoever picked Ange – can we assume it was Dom – has done us proud 👍🏼

  2. thoroughly enjoyed that tonight. Its night and day from last season and a damning indictment on Neil Lennon’s coaching skills! Guys that we thought were spent have come roaring back to form. Our entire midfield and I’d even say Ajeti and Edouard looked lively when they came on.

I’d keep Eddy. If he scores another 20+ goals this season we win the league and pocket £43m.

Surely that’s better than a £15m transfer now to Brighton or whoever?

BTW the early (wrongly) disallowed goal by Kyogo might be the best team goal we score all season.

Oh for the introduction of VAR!

BTW there was yet again not one failure tonight!

  3. Why would you want to change Ralston and Taylor, they’ve taken to the new system remarkably well. If we’d signed two full backs and they’d done this well we’d be very excited about them. 22 and 23 as well.

  4. I know we are basking in our result but I read this on Reddit and thought it would be of interest, re Kyogo and the J League –

Last season he wasn’t as good, went stretches of games without scoring but this year he was very consistent. I think it’d be between him, Leandro Damiao and Kaoru Mitoma for MVP this year assuming their form continued until the end of the season.

The Athletic had an article a few weeks ago recommending players that Celtic could sign, one was Furuhashi, another was Mitoma, just signed by Brighton, Ao Tanaka recently signed by Fortuna, and the other one was a teammate of Furuhashi’s at Kobe Ryuho Kikuchi, best old school defender in the league.

Formed a strong partnership with Thomas Vermaelen and like Furuhashi a signing from the second divsion who turned out to be along with Kyogo their best and most consistent player despite Iniesta, Samper, former Hamburg captain Gotoku Sakai etc (and purported Brazilian wonderkid Lincoln though he’s shown little yet) also being on their books.

I don’t think they actually watched any of the players though, they used an algorithm to predict which ones would be good at a Celtic level. Looks like they may have been right about Furuhashi and the other two were also good suggestions but Kikuchi is very obviously not good enough on the ball for the way Ange wants to play.

But currently players are often signed at around 20-21 by European clubs after half a good season, or not even half a good season in some cases, they’re just looking at the underlying attributes and seeing the potential to develop. That’s what happened with Ko Itakura who wasn’t particularly great in the season before he left.

That might be worth Celtic looking at as teams generally won’t ask for high fees. Kamada and Tomiyasu were both signed initially for less than 1m and now they’re worth over 20. Obviously players like that don’t come around every season and signing young players can be very hit and miss but it’s difficult to lose much if you’re only spending a few hundred thousand on the transfer

  5. MJ- Gerry McCulloch was at pains to emphasise that the game was next Wednesday, not Thursday…..

  6. Just home from the game.

Calmac mom, followed closely by Turnbull and Taylor.

Pleased to see a lot on here praising Taylor for a change.

But the defence when put under pressure worries me. Especially Starfelt

  7. St Tams,

Star felt seriously hampered by playing on the left.Very right footed.A few good headers out tonight.

  8. The Huns go to Alashkert in two weeks time, three days before the first derby of the season, scheduled for 12 noon

If they were to play their game at 8 o’clock our time tomorrow they would be playing in 34 degree heat

Flight time from Armenia to Glasgow is 6 hours

Great night – no downsides. Great style of play – we do take a few chances at the back but they will decrease as we get used to it.

A few more additions and we will be much stronger than last season. Let’s keep building. HH.

I’m not sure if your comment is made through gritted teeth, but, you’re spot on regarding our defence…..the more they play together the better they’ll get

Love Ange – his attitude his demeanor – he has a bit of Stein about him!

    steady now

  11. Looks like the Brazilian RB Couto will be coming.

Can’t understand the seeming reluctance to get Lovric in.Desperate to come.18 goals last season,3from 4this.Would seem an Ange type.Goals,pace,skill.

    Around 4 million.Bargain.

  12. garygillespieshamstring on

Complete shambles. Many hundreds of supporters locked out until second half as tickets didn’t work at the gates.

They really need to get their act together.

  13. 31003

its difficult to argue we’re not already much stronger. A

13-2 in the last 3 games is a huge improvement regardless of the opposition

  14. CELTIC40ME

Can’t disagree with that either…..but bearing in mind this defence have only had 3 or 4 games together you’ve got to imagine they’ll be even better with a dozen games together under their belts

  15. Just reading back.

Had to dip in and out because….. work but what I saw was pretty darn sharp. Lucky enough to catch all the goals so happy about that. Harts saves as well. SO nice to see a keeper make a save.

Always said I liked our wee honest pro Taylor.

  16. Great game need a couple of players so lets get the recruiting right.

    We have to back Ange.

  17. 31003

    thumbs up

a couple of clean sheets in a row helps with the confidence as well. and Julien due back before long

  18. iniquitousiv

Taylor was superb and Tierney won’t be back anytime soon

    give Taylor some credit

  19. As much as two weeks ago now feels like a different world, let’s keep things real.

Celtic continue to grow in renewed confidence despite the failed fickle assimilated tim revolt behind the scenes.

Thank God we have our tried and tested Celtic PLC at the helm, delivering success is their forte.

As Gordon Strachan would say, ignore the noise.

Celtic aint just for any year, this year or last,,,,,,Celtic’s for every year since 1888.

  20. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Back at Paradise tonight for the first time in 18 months or more.

    Loved it !

  21. Enjoyed that again.

Have to applaud Jablonec, a limited outfit, who gave us a good work out and never stopped trying to score.

I was worried at the start that Welsh and Starfelt leave a lot of space between them and Calmac was getting sucked forward because we had so much of ht ball. He was not as defensively minded as Soro, but when Ismail got on, he continued in much the same vein. Better teams will exploit that gap.

Joe Hart’s kicking remains problematic but he ahs sufficient presence to calm this young backline.

All our stars were in central mid tonight plus Christie in the first half. There was not one failure to be seen.

Revenge against Hearts will be welcome but the big one will be getting enough of a lead agaisnt AZ next Wednesday before a tough trip to North Holland.

Not a bad start from an unknown coach from a backwater league😀

  22. Traffic was horrific tonight both coming to and from Celtic Park .

Caused by cycle lanes on London Rd !!!, this main road toward M73/M74/M8 East bound now reduced to one lane in each direction.

We left West Lothian before 6pm, but still missed the first 15 mins of the game, hundreds behind me who will have missed more of the game , probably for the same reason.

To put in context we are usually seated before the teams come out for warm up.

I have parked in the streets close to the old Parkhead Fire Station for 40 years.

After experiencing the new layout on Sunday with only 25k fans , I knew post match would be mayhem, so did not rush back to the car.

We were probably the last supporters to leave the stadium… reaching car at 10:05.

Nothing moved, not one car in the side streets, we sat in car stationary until 10:25 before any cars moved.

This will only get worse when the South Stand is reopened.

    Brilliant initiative Glasgow

On the upside….. we did see ONE cyclist.

Apart from that , it was a great night.

  23. What a night in Paradise! Came home exhausted. I didn’t realise how emotional it was going to be. Great performance and goals. Jablonec are a good team, played good football and created chances. We now have a goalie we can trust. Joe Hart made two magnificent saves.

What dawned on me as the evening progressed is that whether the fans in the ground tonight are mineshafters or happy clappers, they are all Celtic fanatics to a man. What a force! I was in a train carriage on the way home after the game and the fans who sang themselves hoarse can only be described as MENTAL. Oh to be young again!

    Forza Celtic!
