  1. Just watched the highlights of the St. J- Galatasary game on BBC site.

Though the Perth team were well beaten in the end, the game tunred on a terrible ref decision not to red card the Turk CB who broought down Chris Kane aith no cover anywhere near him when the xcore was still 1:1.

    That ref should be demoted

  2. ST TAMS on 12TH AUGUST 2021 11:11 PM

    Just home from the game.

Calmac mom, followed closely by Turnbull and Taylor.

Pleased to see a lot on here praising Taylor for a change.

But the defence when put under pressure worries me. Especially Starfelt

    ……………..

Surprised at that. I thought Starfelt played very well tonight. I thought it was the most composed he’d been so far and that he cleared up some dangerous situations.

  3. Excellent performance and result tonight.

We’re ahead of where I thought we’d be at this stage.

Need to remain focused and finish the rebuild. Well done to all this evening. Always a good sign when there are motm options and arguments.

    Fabulous

I did give Taylor credit. I said he had a great game and always works his socks off. All well and good, but unfortunately he does not have what we will need if we reach the Europa Group Stages.

He is slow, cannot get past a man with decent recovery speed, cannot jump high enough to overcome his height disadvantage, and is generally a poor crosser of the ball. In the away leg, a Czech player gave him 10 yards of a start and caught him in 20, and unfortunately, you cannot teach speed. International wingers will blow past him. We need several defensive upgrades or the attacking improvements Ange has made will come to naught in key games. He should be a squad player, rather than an automatic first choice. Harsh, but true.

  5. Manager: Fans created something special tonight

by Paul Cuddihy, Celtic View Editor

It was a night of emotion as supporters packed into Paradise to cheer on the team. In the event, Ange Postecoglou’s side produced another superb display of attacking football, scoring three goals without reply to give the Hoops a 7-2 aggregate win over FK Jablonec.

It puts Celtic into the Europa League play-off round, where they will face AZ Alkmaar, with the first leg at home next week.

For the manager and his players, it was another great experience of Celtic Park, with a sell-out crowd generating a superb atmosphere, which was matched by a strong showing from the team.

Speaking after the game, Ange Postecoglou said: “The emotion was incredible, on the park and, more importantly, off park, and the fans created something special.

‘We started really well and fed off the energy in the stadium and we created some good chances and scored a goal.’

“We lost our way a little but then in the second half we picked it up and it was a real good job.

We’ve got a really heavy schedule to maintain this sort of intensity and having a full house in here certainly helps us.”

The Celtic players showed great bravery on the ball throughout the 90 minutes, always with a view to implementing the style of play that the manager wants.

In turn, he has been pleased with the way that his team has played in recent games.

“It’s part of who we want to be,” the Celtic boss said.

‘We’ve got to be a team that shows no fear and tries to play our football and dictate the game.’

“It’s not easy to do, to be fair, and I do put a lot of responsibility and expectation on the players to do that. The other side of that is that you do get great rewards if you’re prepared to be brave, and I think that these last two or three games, we’ve got our rewards for it.”

The three goals against Jablonec mean that the Hoops have scored 13 goals in their last three goals, with James Forrest and David Turnbull with a double on the scoresheet in tonight’s win.

At the other end, Joe Hart, who was by far the quieter of the goalkeepers, still produced a couple of superb saves in the second half when Jablonec pushed for a goal.

“He’s a top quality goalkeeper and he was there when we needed him tonight,” the manager said, “and aside from that, he has a real presence around the place and he’s very motivated to have success and that’s the kind of people we need here.”

And of his impressive midfield trio of McGregor, Turnbull and Rogic, the Hoops boss added: “They were great. I thought Tommy was outstanding tonight, both on and off the ball. David’s been great but I think he gets a bit hard on himself if he doesn’t score, and for him to get a couple of goals tonight is super for him.

“And Cal’s just a great orchestrator in there of understanding what we need and the tempo we need, and again, he did well.”

  6. Glad to see Ange ignored Paul’s advice.

Kyogo was excellent & just tried too hard.

His “goal: would have been a thing of beauty….

But he did run offside all night long.

    Love our inverted fullbacks.

2 goals & 2 assists from them in the past 10 days.

The moron who ran on will cost us another hefty fine, so I hope he’s barred for the season.

Otherwise, great job by Ange, Callum & the team.

    HH

  7. INIQUITOUSIV

I actually think that Taylor has improved defensively under Ange. I know he & Ralston are inverted positionally a lot, but both men’s confidence seems to have soared under this system.

I’m probably getting carried away now, but taking hitherto ordinary looking players & reinventing them as much better players has happened before at Celtic.

A great assist on Saturday & another perfect pass tonight shows what Taylor can do under this system.

In fact everyone apart from Eddie seems energized now. I think our defence has looked better in the last two games, notwithstanding a couple of brain farts tonight. But how good would you feel with Hart behind you on tonight’s form.

New backline, new system & new goalie but they’re improving.

Hope you’re well in these pandemic times.

    HH

  8. Re the ‘brain farts’:

The biggest was CalMac’s short backpass and Joe’s dribbling in his own area.

Still, we were all dribbling and drooling over the way AP has inspired the whole squad to play.

The Tony R turnaround amazes and delights in equal measure. HH

  9. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    Great play tonight.

The football is really shaping up under Ange.

Any doubts about him must surely be laid to bed now ffs.

He has the same defenders playing out their skin, but not only that, getting involved on the scoring sheet.

I’ve noticed the Uber board Celts here publically slating young Gary Taylor and Big Tony Ralston, but I have enjoyed immensely watching them improve every game, and become first team players.

They still need back up, but ffs, an all out attacking manager has made a good defence out of players we had written off ffs.

I echo Ernie’s concerns though, that this is when Lawellism kicks in, and the budget is strangled until we see how the Sevvies are getting on.

Ffs. Invest in the man, for the love of fk 🤦‍♂️

Honestly, this lawellesque pish has been slowly downgrading the club over 2 decades.

The pish to be read here is genuinely creepy and not the voice of Celtic supporters, it is the voice of a tory board paying PR agitators.

Funnily enough, the worst of them here aren’t actually the paid trolls, they’re just the sycophanctic “let me be one of your gang” cases, like ole Tom McG, Turkeybhoy the bully leader, and new one firing up the outside, St Stivs, who has surpassed himself by being a quiet underplayer for years, until someone called in their chips, and he went full on attack of the Green Brigade, the celtic support and anyone that questioned the board recently, by being a sarcastic, dismissive arrogant snob, then posting a few old photos to prove he’s really just a good Tim/Tom.

I was most amused at the demand that MadMitch meet him…knowing full well like the rest of us that the fella is in Australia ffs 🤦‍♂️

    Aye, some crowd here.

    The clique.

    You all must be proud.

Personally, you make my skin crawl. This club is massively important to us all.

Whatever the f you lot think you are doing, I’ll never comprehend.

It became more and more obvious with the arrival of a certain “Tony Donnelly “.

This would be around the time of the Resolution 12 movement, which he was very active in ridiculing, for reasons best known to himself.

But hey, I’m sure you are good Tims like the rest of us……

  10. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    Quad at 4.15.

Every defender we’ve had that has been a success, (bearing in mind we have been the only club who hasn’t bothered with them for 10 years…..) started off rough.

I watched Tont R with real interest, and saw him being strong in defence, resolute, but hesitant with the pass, which was clearly a sign that he was devoted to AngeBall, and saying , where are yez??….

He has come on his game immensely, and is further proof, that good coaching can make these lads proper players.

How many players careers have been ruined by this monstrosity of a board?

Unless I’m badly mistaken, I suspect that Ange wont he here too long, as Lawell is still doing his thing.

We’re being sold a lie, “Ang and Dom”, by the Lawell PR merchants.

I hope to God I’m wrong, I really do, and will gladly acknowledge that best year, but that’s how it seeks to me.

Is it my fault that I wouldnt trust this board with a feckin penny??

I think not. They have proven time and time again, that they will throw the whole club under the bus to suit themselves.

I hope Ange can stay here for the long term and do his thing. The initial findings are feckin great.

The football is looking sublime already ffs.

    We’ve been here before though.

Who usually screws it up for us?………

Answer…..you’ll find an abnormal amount of aggressive support for them on these pages.

  11. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    The lurkin Gurkin,

    I’m grand mate 🤣🤷‍♂️

    What do you mean?

  12. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    Btw, the lurkin Durkin,.

I’ve always liked your independent approach, answer to no one style 🤷‍♂️

If you want to question my feenyin credentials, fire away, I’d rather answer to you than most that post here 🤷‍♂️😁

  13. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    Quad,

PS, sorry , I meant to mention wee Taylor as well. What a work rate.

Disgracefully written off as usual by the board lovers here, a bizarre anomaly which is common in their thought processes.

The wee lad has been battling minor after minute every game he has played, and I’ll take that fella over any other replacements due in, if there are any….

He was the same before Ange. Giving it 100% all the time. And him and Ralston and Welsh are being rewarded by a good manager in the face of “supporters ” who have been writing them off while defending their beloved tory board.

I know it’s now all black and white and that they have been under a lot of scrutiny by the support, but here, reading it, grates my haw maws.

The same wtf Heid cases that will jump on anyone criticising the Sainted Mr Lawell.

I’m a Celtic supporter. Always have been. It’s in my every ounce of me.

But reading the board protecting clap trap on here brings out the rebel in me. 🤷‍♂️

  14. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    The Lurkin Durkin,

First time I heard that song was in Mayo many many decades ago, sung by a german tourist funnily enough.

    Brilliant song.

  15. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    Lurkin Durkin,

    Aye, ok 👍

    🙄

You’re just here for the banter then?

    Ffs.

This site really does bring out the hun in folk, it really does.

Never used to be like this.

    Awful.

    Anyway, bit of music.

Growing up in the 70s, where your contemporary 8 year old mates were inspired to drop the shoulder, and chip the ball over the tackle….

    Great days.

We were taken to CP by the school, around 1983 I reckon… when we were 9/10….watching Tommy…i swear my memory is of him in training wearing the big specs 🤣🤣

The legend of Jock and the Lions was still alive there in the football.

    ——-

No “gritted teeth” I assure you, just my straightforward honest opinion as normal. There is work to do, but as long as we are making progress, I will be happy. I don’t expect everything at once, but neither does the manager. What we do in the remainder of the window will show the club’s intentions for this season.

  18. Good morning all from a happy clappy Garngad.

Every single player did a job last night.

The Improvement of Taylor and Ralston is good to see but the same as the winger position or wide midfielder wee lack back up. We need to strengthen ASAP in key positions. As Ange said it’s a long season.

403 why do you need to be so aggressive in your posts?

    HH

    D :)

  19. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    David66,

Sorry if I’m seeming to be or worse, being aggressive.

    Not my intention.

I do get angry at the contemptuous attitude here for folk asking crucial questions.

I’ll re-visit my approach if you think I’m being aggressive. Not my attention, bud 👍

  20. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    David66,

Sorry, i have to add though.

The board sycophancy on this site and the creepy tactics used to bully out criticism are fully the source of any aggession you see in me.

I’d ask you pay closer attention to the replies of the usual suspects.

See the bigger picture I’d suggest.

But you won’t get it here.

  21. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

Brilliant listen to Tommy in that video.

Big Billy, motivator learned it from Jock.

Alex Ferguson ffs, learned his trade from Jock.

Like many others. Then you have the managers that learned from Ferguson, 2nd generation Steins ffs……

That man revolutionised the game ffs.

Only the Celtic men know that. The hun element will never admit it.

Even if they do, look at Sir Alex…… has to make a film to make this simple point..

Meanwhile, here, we chase managers if they realise the board are throwing them under the bus……

Brendan eh….Made them (not us) 9 million, and they still had the creepy hun like cheek to have you muppets blaming him for leaving.

And you think they’re going to treat Ange well??

    Open yer eyes ffs.

Lawell is still pushing the buttons here

    Specifically, ….here. HERE.

  22. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

    🤣🤣

Love that goal at the end, wearing the gloves , casually….🤣🤣

Shout out to ole Snake Plissken who used to post here, hope you’re well fella !…

  23. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

Omg, someone make sure future legend Kyogo is seeing Lubo’s highlights 🤣

  24. 403DontNeedNoHospitality on

Lubo is a much more handsome version of Joey from friends….🤷‍♂️🤣

Proof that Celtic makes us all handsome…😁

  25. “Just my straightforward honest opinion as normal” I smell shite.

Lies are the modus operandi for the trolls.

  26. 403DONTNEED

From rough to diamonds is what we’re seeing in front of our eyes.

One thing’s clear from reading any blog; people see football, players, coaching, execs thru a million prisms.

I always though Tony R had a steeling robustness about him; many saw the same player totally different.

Some think Ko is the key; games I’ve seen I’m currently unconvinced but will keep and open mind.

As Ange sez, they’re all acclimatising to new plans, shapes and energy levels – most are rising to Ange’s ideal.

Warming times to watch our team indeed HH
