    Hedman was signed on the back of being the keeper in a pretty decent Swedish WC 2002 team.

     

     

    Yes – he was at Coventry but they were Premier League then.

     

     

    I was pretty pleased when he signed but he had a whole bunch of personal issues that manifested themselves later.

     

     

    In the long list of players we thought were stars but were duds for us – Gillespie, Gravesen, Ljungberg, Wright, Hayes, Slater, Juninho, Jarosik, Camara, Larsson.

    Indeed.thats the thing when you think of those names,then the annual cull of youth academies who make it in scotland/uk.

    Eddie spent half the game moaning at Turnbull for not passing to him instead of shooting.

     

     

    It’s a change in attitude. He’s a couple of games away from being back on form and scoring against the Huns and every other team in Scotland

    Apparently NL is seriously considering restoring the old guards for cup final. I’d encourage him not to. Why change for the sake of loyalty? The players are paid a lot because they can deliver the results , loyalty shouldn’t come into it, not in a major way. I’d stick with, more or less, the team vs Kilmarnock and bring on Brown and Christie when the others tire. But I wouldn’t start Eddie. I’d go with Klimala and replace when he tires with Griff or Ajeti. I think some of Taylor balls into the 6 yard box were pretty good last night and he’s better defensively than Laxalt and he’s our player. I’d stick with him. Calmac can hand the captain’s armband to Broonie when he comes on – a symbolic gesture, no more no less. But Broonie can then go up and receive the cup that he has been very instrumental until recently in winning.

    All this talk about Lenny saying we will give the players who got us there the chance to win the cup. What he did not say was that they would start the game he also did not say we will play the same team as today. He did say to a reporter “Are you picking my team now”. Why should he give anyone a weeks notice of what his team will be.

     

    First I have seen of Mr Soro but reminds me of a barrel chested wing back ( before they were invented) in the 60’s who could pass the ball about. Good result, now let’s win the cup

    The old guard deserve the opportunity to seal a new fate.

    The idea of playing is to win. A cup final is not a benefit match. That comes later. At the moment our strongest team played against Kilmarnock, bar Eddie.

     

    If he wants to show respect for those “who got us to the final” then let them be substitutes and let Broonie take the captain’s armband when he comes on. That way when we win he picks up the cup. I’m sure Calmac wouldn’t mind. Time’s have changed. I feel it’s this kind of thinking of NL that’s left us 17 points adrift of rangers. IMHO

    Don’t mean to harp on Henry Joy but I don’t think there’s any doubt about the old guard being in the squad if fit. That’s the easy part. Who gets the nod and why is the issue. I think it should be based on current performance not on past performance. The old boys who haven’t been performing well and is a main reason why we are 17 points adrift of rangers can all get the nod towards the end and there can be a symbolic transfer of captain’s armband for Broonie.

    Celtic40me those stats are more like the Celtic we know.

     

     

    We just need to convert more of the 10 on target….Oh I know maybe 2 strikers would convert more.

     

     

    A lot better we can build on that, a win on Sunday should boost us then back to the league.

    I remember years ago when David Seaman was Arsenal’s goalkeeper, he got injured and Alex Manninger came in and played superbly.

     

     

    Arsene Wenger was asked if he had a tough decision to make when Seaman was fit.

     

     

    He basically said that Manninger did his job which was to fill in for Seaman and did it well. But Seaman is his number one and the team and defence needs to know the number one behind them.

     

     

    Lots of debate on here about who should start, should we throw Barkas in for the final etc.

     

     

    If we want a settled defence and more calm at the back, Lennon needs to decide on one and keep him in. Personally, for me, it would be Hazard but either way, Lennon needs to make that call. The chopping and changing makes it hard for both the keeper and defence to find form.
