    ————————————–

Was heartening to see them jeered pillar to post too. They know we care alright.

  2. Eddy has 5 goals in 11 SPFL games, three in the first match of the season on 02 August, and only another two since then in 10 games, Like everyone on here, I believe he’d score more with another striker alongside him. Nevertheless in game after game he is missing vast majority of chances that do come his way.

Ajeti’s conversion goal rate is 71%. Eddy’s is 19% (both have 5 goals). Goals per 90 mins played, Ajeti 0.96, Edouard 0.61.

We know he is our best striker WHEN he is on form, but do you keep playing him while he is so far from his best?

  3. DENIABHOY on 14TH DECEMBER 2020 8:52 AM

From what we have seen and from the stats you provide, it has to be said the Odsonne Edouard is relying on previous reputation.

I so wish that was not the case.

Eddie can’t play the lone striker role and by the looks of it has no intention of trying.

We need to go two up front….try him with the pace of Klimala as a foil, or the link-up with Griff.

We might see a different Eddie. If we don’t, then for whatever reason, it’s not meant to be.

  5. Barkas and Lennon Will not be with Celtic next season,Very Very Seldom I watch Sevco, but tuned into Sportscene ,When Dundee Utd came at them ,they Sevco were all over the place,

  6. Also, with every passing week and in a post-Covid environment to come, Eddie’s value will be getting lower and lower. The £40m previously quoted looks fanciful right now.

Another thing we need to consider.

  7. Deniabhoy – I would play a Centre Forward and Eddie a free role but not out and out striker, I believe he is better dropping deep and running at defenders not with his back to goal. Only my opinion of course.

Play Ajeti or Griff or Paddy as out and out poacher/centre forward and Eddie as a partner but dropping off wide and deeper also play Turnbull as the 10.

    D :)

  8. My friends in Celtic,

Really looking forward to next Sunday’s game now. BBC1 and Premier Sport 1.

With all the Covid restrictions, football and particularly Celtic has taken on an extremely important role in life.

    Never underestimate it’s importance.

    HH to all.

  9. As soon as we were out of the CL, where I assume Lenny thinks a more conservative formation may be prudent for us, we should have started playing two up front in all games. I do not know a single Celtic fan who does not agree with that simple premise. We have 4 forwards who right now are all capable of contributing at least 45 mins in every game. We are allowed 5 subs every game, so it’s not like it limits changes elsewhere if needed.

  10. GuyFawkesaforeverhero on

Happy to read about the two wins this week. Small mercies and all that.

Good luck to everyone logging in to the AGM, though I’m not expecting many revelations. Change is necessary.

Even so, hope not to hear – be the change you want to see. Every time it rears its head I wonder, what would Abel think about how that idea worked out for Cain? I think I know.

Safer to stick to the tried and tested. Look before you leap. Never goes wrong, they say.

My late father’s mother’s favourite lesson was a stitch in time saves nine. It’s easy to imagine myself screaming into her face, “what feckin’ use is that to me, granny? We’re trying to save TEN here!”

Eat less, Move more, Keep breathing. Roll on Tier2.

  11. Start Mikey at Hampden or stick with Elyounoussi? Guessing Mikey will be used as a sub again but he is the only fit player we have who is capable of real wing play . . . . well other than that new right winger, Ajer.

  12. Interesting few days.

As a result of a dead rubber last Thursday, Neil has ‘stumbled’ upon a formula that I suspect was not in his thinking previously. The GK situation and the debate about the line-up next week is testimony to how we still don’t know our best XI are yet.

Are we 3-5-2 (as I suspect Neil wanted), or are we 4-3-2-1, does Eddie have a settled partnership instead of Moi, Christie, Klimala, Griff, Eddie or whoever he needs to get an understanding with? Will we continue to push Ajer around the backline? Make Chris and Shane work (doesn’t for me against competent sides), recognise that 4 wing-backs have such a poor conversion for chance creation or push Mikey and James (in January) into orthodox wingers again? Or is the January wondow anothe chance to build a new team?

We are hard to 2nd guess for the opposition but I suspect also for the players in green and white too? It all still feels a bit too inconherent to feel like a corner turned or a settled side is on its way.

    HH

  13. Deniabhoy,

Moi is our top scorer. He starts.

I’d like to see him at No. 10 and put Mikey out left though…

Midfield of Turnbull, Soro, Johnston and Moi. Eddie and and Ajeti in front of them.

    Hammer the Hun bassas….

  14. The change to the rules allowing 5 subs in each SPFL game should be a huge advantage for us – but we haven’t capitalised on it. Subs still mostly take place around the 70-80 minute mark as we chase a winner or when Lenny finally accepts someone is playing rank awful.

He has said on a few occasions that players XYZ lack fitness / game sharpness, but the five subs rule is a golden ticket to address that problem. Ask the players in question to go hard and fast for 40-50 mins then make 2-3 tactical subs, then go again. You can still hold back two subs for injuries or late change to tactics to chase game or protect it.

I think it was Arrigo Sacchi who once said “Of all the non-important things, football is the most important”

Seems truer than ever right now.

  16. DENIABHOY

Agree. We should have been making more changes at half time. eg. Yesterday Frimpong should have been off at half time.

  17. We could run a sweepstake on how many fouls Naismith will get away with next week before being booked. He will be out to leave his mark on the game and any lightweight player that gets in his way. Will never forget his snarling, screaming face while Jonny Hayes lay injured on the ground.

  18. Lille top of the French league – just saying

Gerard Houllier RIP – came across as a very nice man.

  19. Watchin the highlights of the Hun game, they really make use of the cross ball.On both sides, they have full backs that are terrific crossers of the ball.We are sadly lacking in this department. Not just talking about set pieces. If you look at the assists from Tavernier, something in the high teens its a potent weapon. Its the big difference in the Hun team this season.Taylor put 3 or 4 fantastic balls across yesterday from open play.We need more of this.

The 4 arm smash from Morelos would have got a Boxer disqualified.Shameful refereeing.

  20. We need width.

Too often we end up inside at a packed defence.

Thing is after 2 decent games we are now debating again about starters in a good way.

    D :)

  21. David66,

It really isn’t I’d say. We’ve weirdly recruited players who don’t play the brand of football Neil seems to want us to play.

Incoherence between recruitment and coaching? Perhaps but we have too much of a mishapen squad.

    HH

  22. Big Wavy I get what you mean.

I prefer to look at the possitive’s of our last couple of results and player performance.

We also had 2 stonewall penalties denied yesterday which if scored make a big difference to that performance

    HH

    D :)

  23. David66

Good point, the cheatin Hun performance by the referee was one of the worst I have seen in recent years.

  24. All set to go and then got this – “Welcome – the AGM Broadcast will be delayed for 10mins. Sorry for the inconvenience”. 😉

  25. Trying to log on to shareholders meeting , won’t allow access ? any info or is anyone else having same trouble ?
