well we got the win we needed, the goals and commitment. keep it going ronnie

  2. ‘gg

Just before I go to bed……..if you scroll down on the page all the goals are there ;)

    HH

  3. Half time substitution sucked the life out of our game.

We play our only No.9 in the No.10 role, where we have at least 6 other options!

Can understand us wanting to give our new striker some game time but unfortunately CKR, as CC, is rank rotten.

KC very poor again, does he need a run of games to reach match fitness or dropped to find fitness?

Positives – McGregor, Tierney, Roberts, Johansen

  4. GG

We could do with a defensive mid to anchor that midfield.

Maybe try Broonie in that role and let the youngsters flow.

Right side needs better defender to allow Roberts free reign.

Commons has shown no reason to be included.likewise Forrest.

  5. I’ve been watching the Crystal Palace Liverpool game with one eye since we finished.

Joe Ledley is anonymous. Hiding behind his beard?

  6. Friday 6th

There was no priest in last night or tonight. They stopped me from seeing my solicitor tonight, as another part of the isolation process, which, as time goes by, they will ruthlessly implement. I expect they may move me sooner than expected to an empty wing. I will be sorry to leave the boys, but I know the road is a hard one and everything must be conquered.

I have felt the loss of energy twice today, and I am feeling slightly weak.

They (the Screws) are unembarrassed by the enormous amount of food they are putting into the cell and I know they have every bean and chip counted or weighed. The damned fools don’t realise that the doctor does tests for traces of any food eaten. Regardless, I have no intention of sampling their tempting morsels.

I am sleeping well at night so far, as I avoid sleeping during the day. I am even having pleasant dreams and so far no headaches. Is that a tribute to my psychological frame of mind or will I pay for that tomorrow or later! I wonder how long I will be able to keep these scribbles going?

My friend Jennifer got twenty years. I am greatly distressed. (Twenty-one-year-old Jennifer McCann, from Belfast’s Twinbrook estate, was sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment for shooting at an RUC man).

I have no doubts or regrets about what I am doing for I know what I have faced for eight years, and in particular for the last four and-a-half years, others will face, young lads and girls still at school, or young Gerard or Kevin (Bobby’s son and nephew, respectively) and thousands of others.

They will not criminalise us, rob us of our true identity, steal our individualism, depoliticise us, churn us out as systemised, institutionalised, decent law-abiding robots. Never will they label our liberation struggle as criminal.

I am (even after all the torture) amazed at British logic. Never in eight centuries have they succeeded in breaking the spirit of one man who refused to be broken. They have not dispirited, conquered, nor demoralised my people, nor will they ever.

I may be a sinner, but I stand — and if it so be, will die — happy knowing that I do not have to answer for what these people have done to our ancient nation.

Thomas Clarke is in my thoughts, and MacSwiney, Stagg, Gaughan, Thomas Ashe, McCaughey. Dear God, we have so many that another one to those knaves means nothing, or so they say, for some day they’ll pay.

When I am thinking of Clarke, I thought of the time I spent in ‘B’ wing in Crumlin Road jail in September and October ’77. I realised just what was facing me then. I’ve no need to record it all, some of my comrades experienced it too, so they know I have been thinking that some people (maybe many people) blame me for this hunger-strike, but I have tried everything possible to avert it short of surrender.

I pity those who say that, because they do not know the British and I feel more the pity for them because they don’t even know their poor selves. But didn’t we have people like that who sought to accuse Tone, Emmet, Pearse, Connolly, Mellowes: that unfortunate attitude is perennial also…

I can hear the curlew passing overhead. Such a lonely cell, such a lonely struggle. But, my friend, this road is well trod and he, whoever he was, who first passed this way, deserves the salute of the nation. I am but a mere follower and I must say Oíche Mhaith.

  7. Thought Charlie was good no erratic passes from defence McGregor was good Johanson having his best game Commons only one who didn’t hit it off maybe down to fitness

  8. ballymenatoybhoy on

Pretty much same same hurt on the eye but different result! KC is a waste of space fit or unfit – in any case it is mostly the latter. ES is a liability, DB & EA will continue to make mistakes so sooner JS is back the better. Would continue with CM in central defence to get us over the SPL line. SB hard one to call but it is not time to be dropping the Captain! Further up the field PR looks good in hoops and is an obvious starter from now on in. GMS good club honest club player but too much “headless chicken” for me. There can only be enough space in the team for one headless chicken i.e. LG. Isn’t it funny how the two headless chickens get the vast majority of our goals – thats the solution – a team of headless chickens!! :-) I am assuming SA and RC were injured and could see the latter forming a good rhythm with PR. Hail Hail!

  9. Captain Beefheart on

Really like Henderson and Tierney. Are there others who deserve their chance? Kojo is needed.

Major clear out needed at Celtic Park.

  10. Glad to see the ‘palpitation’ fixture out the way!

Competent performance – 3 or 4 players still below par. Thought the couple of defence flapping moments showed CG to be looking sharper than lately.

Very strong left-sided input today – young Roberts looks a good prospect.

A similar competent performance .v. Thistle next Saturday should see us back on track in the League race.

    H!H!

  11. I love seeing Alan Pardew’s face when something goes wrong.

He could easily be a Hun.

  12. Stairheedrammy on

BBC saying Celtic were lucky and wondering whether RD has already been sacked. If we win the league and spank Sevco 5-0 in the final of the SC will they still be asking that?

  13. Good result for Celtic and safely into the semi final.

Another four changes to the line up, and as usual three changes in the second half, with Roberts Armstrong and CKR all given game time.

Charlie Mulgrew now preferred to partner Erik Sviatchenko on a day when the Celtic back line wasn’t really tested against a side very evidently from a lower division. Celtic not back in Paradise till April and the hunt for a settled winning side continues away from home in the big Glasgow derby.

GMS peculiarly played on the left wing for the 90 minutes and most of the first half chances involved him on his natural side for a change. The game was over when Calum MacGregor made use of the space that opened up in front of him, with a well taken goal, after Griffiths and GMS had already netted routine chances.

Willie Collum just had to feature, by not seeing the foul that put Stefan Johansen out of the game, and the hapless whistler left Johansen on the field getting treatment, whilst he bolted amid the boos, for his half time snifter?

Substitute Patrick Roberts was beating Morton players for fun and was joined by Stuart Armstrong in a brief but more comfortable central role appearance, and CKR filled the vacated strikers slot by duffing everything that came his way. If Scott Brown had a brother you’d think it was him that was playing for Celtic, and Kris Commons had an unusually quiet game.

The second half became a snooze fest in an eerily quiet stadium and the diehards in attendance melted away with the clock running down on an easy Celtic victory, in the dappled pre spring like Parkhead air.

    M.O.M Keiran Tierney

  14. BBC are correct.

    We were lucky.

Lucky to have better players than Morton.

Lucky to have more shots at goal, more possession and in the end more goals.

Lucky we are able to rise above incompetent referees, an antagonistic media and a historic bias against us from the authorities.

  15. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Everyone nipped out for dinner wi their wee mammy?

Didn’t watch today-as promised due to my recent Morton history! Just seen the assault on SJ-thanks,’GG-and I genuinely think it is past the time for letting these things go.

Collum clearly didn’t want to make the correct decision, this was compounded by his shame in that by leaving the pitch without even checking on the player.

We have the evidence by the bucketload;when they ask-What are you insinuating?-when it is presented our reply should be simple.

Evidence is not insinuation. The only question you are required to find the answer to is whether these events are the result of incompetence or of dishonesty.

And aye,it IS a Health and Safety issue. It might have no place in football, but neither does a tackle-and the implicit licence to execute it-like that one today.

  16. Questionable? Penalty for Liverpool

    Last kick of ball.

    Pardew will be apoplectic. :-))))

  17. Much better performance today.

We beat Morton easily 3-0 and sevco drew with them 2-2 at Ibrox so we should hammer sevco now.

That’s how it works right ?

  18. JOHN MCGINN

    ———————

Just catching second-half of Hibs v ICT.

He could, repeat could, be successor to Broonie – needs a wee bit more mobility.

Can’t see any real progress from Liam Henderson – overplays quite a lot – needs to release it quicker.

Stokes looking fitter with better appetite.

Word of warning – let’s not get carried away today – Morton poor.

Is McGregor becoming a must pick?

  19. thetimreaper on

Happy to be through to the next round. Thought the first half was excellent, Johansen and McGregor set the temp and we had some good movement and energy all over the pitch. We seemed to get the ball forward quicker, particularly some long passes up to Griffiths. I thought it worked well and got their defenders turned and facing their own goal, too much of our football recently has been played in front of packed defences. The boys went through the motions in the second half, which was a little disappointing as i would have likes to have seen a few more goals. Roberts was class when he came on, the boy is a player no doubt. Also good to see Armstrong come on and play in a central position, hopefully see more of that in the future.

  20. I heard a bit of Bonnar post match on RS when I was driving giving it “Old Firm” for his paymasters

  21. thetimreaper on

    Mr Pastry

McGregor is much better playing in middle of the pitch. I would play him just now, he has lots of energy and can carry the ball forward. I also like that he is brave on the ball, even when things are not going well for him or the team. Performances have tailed off since he’s had a spell out of the team recently.

  22. Question for anyone watching Hibs.

How is Liam Henderson looking against a Premiere League side?

  23. themaestro72 on

Well done today Celtic. I was surprised to see Mulgrew and Commons in from the start, if it was up to me they wouldn’t be near the 1st team.

Tierney excellent again, GMS & McGregor played well too and the ref doesn’t see a wild tackle on Johansen.

I’m disappointed with our lack of imagination and variety at set pieces. Do we practice these?

  24. Thetimreaper

Agree with everything you say about McGregor.

Would be in my team every week .

  25. Bobby Murdoch,

Well said! This issue needs to be pursued, especially after a win.

I think in this case, it is incompetence rather than the other.
