  1. 2009: Celtic defeat Dundee United 11-10 in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final of the League Cup at Hampden.

  2. Tongue firmly in my cheek, but the reason we don’t practice penalties is until only recently, we ever get them, so why practice.

Younger readers might thing it took 20 penalties each to reach that 11-10 conclusion. :)

Good to see both teams playing in “home” strips and nice to be able to have the sound on as Swally has some gardening to get on with.

Dust has settled on a scrappy win.

In my head, it’s now just a win.

As for the upcoming group of away games?

These always come with risk. Acknowledged

Our away form – apart from Killie and (post Atletico home game) Easter Road – has been decent.

Teams come out against us just a little bit more.

    Time will tell.

It is strange times St Stivs,i can see the time a ticket exchange scheme comes into play sometime in the future, ensuring a fully attended parkhead. Most clubs run this so giving someone the chance to watch Celtic.

I cant rationalize booing after a win, pity they could not show support and start a song in support, during the game

  14. An Tearmann,

very difficult to attend when you are on the other side off the world on biz.

couldn’t even see game as had in inter region flight taking off at half time off the sevco game and landing at full time off the celtic game. Based on what i have read my timing was good.

My take is that Celtic went all in to support Ange. The issue was when he wouldn’t sign a new contract and he looked likely to leave for Crystal Palace after Viera before RH stepped in. At same time Mark Lawwell was planted as Head of Recruitment without anyone else considered and Ange gushed over him on the Chairmans request— keep the peace until the inevitable summer exit.

Rodgers back not supported by the chairman with a dysfunctional recruitment team headed by an amateur. 2 disastrous transfer windows under Mark Lawwell and a third almost certain. SVH no thanks.

As we know there is another Lawwell with his head in the trough doing comms.

Lawwell mafia can see the writing on the wall and will go all out to demonise manager as per previous MO—- feeding chosen media whores to stab manager in the back. I am looking forward to Paul67 attempt to blame manager while we are 5 players down from last year , 70 mil plus in bank and a recruitment team whose track record is blowing £20M on projects. They don’t know what good looks like and are in panic — caught in the headlights. Sevco are crap but believe with help they can win the league. Our recruitment mess has brought this about and the Lawwell mafia are 100% responsible.

My season tickets were unused yesterday as my Bhoys couldn’t be bothered going and I fully understand.

I note with interest yet another gruff exchange on here … prompted by an original post which contains (what I would call) excessive negative superlatives.

I totally understand there are some who do not like our board.

Obvious too that some intensely dislike “Lawwell”.

Fair enough. Free country. Free blog.

When I read that Celtic are being “ruined” or “destroyed” or are a “laughing stock” ….. I find these comments bewildering.

    What is their basis?

A quick glance at our recent onfield achievements (trophies BTW) and off field performance suggests the above superlatives are inaccurate.

    So, genuine question ….

Why do they keep cropping up?

  16. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 28TH JANUARY 2024 12:32 PM

True story. Every team that comes to Celtic Park have making the crowd anxious going into the last 20 minutes part of the game plan. Even at 2-0 down they don’t change, it feels like we need to be 3 ahead to feel comfortable.

Even a slight change in the psychology that playing at home brings gives us an advantage

Between now and the end of the season we need to be mindful of what playing at home means these days, even an early goal doesn’t help. I watched Alistair Johnson on Sportscene laughing with one of the RC players after the game about the boos on the final whistle. He couldn’t believe it.

Excuses about the crowd or the pitch won’t do, neither is changing, we need strong characters and strong leadership and wins, however they come.

  17. It must be great to be so saintly to comment on fans not turning up for certain games or leaving early, never mind the reasons of said fans, just accuse them of not being as good a supporter as me…pash. Get a grip guys.

On the subject of being so saintly and being the best supporter ever in the history of world football, if someone posts a comment then it’s their opinion if yours differs great because that’s what makes us human, but please, please, please do not sound so saintly, crass, obnoxious and arrogant in your response.

Just my opinion of some on here, could do with a lesson in manners and the human touch.

Have a nice day and be nice.

    CELTIC40ME @ 12:48 PM.

    Cheers. Totally agree.

I think we’ll see what our club, manager and players are made of in the next four months.

Will the league title race be tight and fraught?

    Possibly.

Is there a chance we won’t win the league?

    Certainly.

And that is as it should be.

This is is a contest … not a coronation for the benefit of the arrogant, ignorant and entitled.

I’ve witnessed snippets of what we are made of this season – admittedly not enough of them.

Ibrox (when they were tagged to win easily, incl. some 8-0 predictions)

Feyenoord at home – sheer guts.

Sevco at home – where the latest in a line of messiahs was going to turn the tide. Whoops.

    Bring it on.

  19. The constant proxy battles about Peter Lawwell and Brendan Rodgers don’t help either.

There’s more discussed about individuals than the actual game which would be fine if it wasn’t having an obvious effect on the team.

If we’re booing our team when they win to go 5 points clear in the league you have to wonder what it’s all about.

    https://football-italia.net/official-reason-behind-van-hooijdonks-absence-against-milan-has-nothing-to-do-with-celtic-transfer/

    This made me laugh.

A commentator says “moo” and “baa” and “woof” …. and the uninformed predictably run with it.

Some of the uninformed have a clear agenda – click bait for revenue.

Others will believe just about anything.

Why bother serving steak when they’ll swallow tripe and pay for the privilege?

Pierre’s wee boy might very well sign for Celtic. Who knows.

But the Italian equivalent of Rob MacLean or Rory What’s his name won’t have the inside story.

  21. Could not raise a chant or a song during the game, but found enough air in their lungs to disgrace themselves by booing, and making an arse of themselves, whilst filling the other side with glee. After a win.!!!!!!

What was the saying” Playing poorly and winning, sign of champions”Probably too many words there for their moronic brains to put in the right order.

GB excused, stayed and sung till the end.

    On to Pittodrie.Hail Hail.

  22. BTB,

What, you mean the”Trusted sources”?Beats me how they can fall for guff they dont, never ever ever, read. But they do,then turn their anger on the Board, when its proven rubbish.Work that one out.The Clickbaiters know the amount of morons on each side

Clements on the other day saying the same thing, all a load of bollox.

Even the biggest doubters had us as the better team who deserved to win in the last Derby. But they’ve got a decent manager who knows how to get results. It was bound to happen at some point, but we don’t seem prepared to accept a challenge without complaining about how it shouldn’t be like this because we’re rich.

  24. Buff Bill

Your timing was good as you missed a Celtic win, ground out but another 3 points all the same.

Nice wee tale bout Viera leaving and Ange not signing contract(you writing scripts out in Hollywood?) It omits Howes deliberations and how Ange came to be known/forwarded to us.

Dont be led by any Media Cody.Your playing a game your not v good at.

Your £70m is at a point in time,as are all a/c,in those accounts it was intimated all o/s transfer balances would be reconciled,it also pointed to expendture at Barrowfield,7 transfers in which may/may not be to your liking, the 70m figure is incorrect, but you know that,it is a handy tool to repeatrepeat and repeat again alas it does not become truth anywhere as you omit the dynamism of being a going concern.

ps personally i would have went for a few more experienced heads alas moving up the transfer rung is hard for us in this country in who we entice, the multi£billion league next door may be something to do with it,and more importantly we will not be reckless.

Your Lawell narrative is inside your head, its grown into a 418 type psychosis,as with him Peter lives there, dormant until a narrative has attempted to be forced

Pity your tickets went unused,i know plenty who would have used them, fans apart The Kano foundation for a start. Most i know who went yesterday were positive, glad to be there, disappointed at the way we played but will be back next home game.

Offer a true alternative Cody strategy wise,i dont think you can, review of board, kpi’s,aims objectives, try take Peter out your head, there is plenty to be goin on with but your more concerned with false narrative.

  25. The sheer amount of dross being shovelled out on Celtic Blogs, like an epidemic of entitlement,

Just An Ordinary Bhoy,on Celtic Star, wrote,

“In the cold light of day,the 3 points is all that matters” The only sensible thing he wrote.Goes on to harangue BR for ,commenting on the booing, saying he has to remember,he was not a popular choice,( with lunkheads, maybe ),and the fans won’t take much more,HE CAN BE ASSURED OF THAT.

FFS,threats after winning, top of the league.

Should change name to,” Just an entitled bhrat”.

  26. An Tearmann @ 12.28.

That’s interesting. I didn’t know the Dunn girls were from the Dunn & Moore family. A good number of years ago whilst in London I was introduced to a Sr Cecily Dunn, a nun from, I think, the Salesian order who did great work with the disadvantaged and deprived in the London area. Originally from Glasgow, she also emanated from that same family so she’d probably be an aunt of the girls you mention.

I think Maxine was a model circa early 80’s. Charlene may have been as well.

More generally I have enjoyed the memories of Shawlands. My first flat (1989-1997) was on the main Kilmarnock Road. Great place to stay back then. Can’t believe I left there 27 years ago…….how time gallops !

  27. if my arithmetic is right we are only 3 wingers away from being able to play a game with 11 wingers in the starting 11.

  28. I thought the tribute to Stuart Gray was a bit clumsy, got lost in the rush as The Huddle started,we usually do these things better.

  29. lets all do the huddle on

itv should have been banned from showing live sports years ago after their F1 adverts embarrassment.

their football coverage is appalling, as is their rugby because of all their adverts.

the horse racing is good but thats about it.
