  1. Was in Shawlands earlier for a family get together.

Used to frequent there back in the 80’s on many occasions.

Place has went to the dogs, full of old and young drunkards. Embarrassing

  2. Don’t get me wrong, I like the odd pint myself but, when you see these booze bags staggering from pub to pub, pissin in doorways and down their trousers, it’s no wonder Glasgow is getting the reputation it has. Where’s the cops?

Most are now unemployed I’m guessing

I honestly think there’s a programme of sorts to run the entire city down

  3. ORO Shawlands

    Superb Italian restaurant

    Once called Bella Napoli

If you fancy it book early

    Always mobbed

Yup Shawlands is a changed place,i remember Bella Napoli when it was Timberland-got my big sis wedding present in late 70s.

That arcade opposite is getting demolished, pubs are shutting or crap, and shops are charitybased, except for a few,

Worked there late 70s,a vibrant busy place, sadly would avoid it now.

Heard tonight the whole arcade is getting demolished for flats. The remaining shops west bound are getting the top stores shaved off…(goodbye dirty D’S)

You would hope they regenerate the remaining buildings at least for the new homeowners

Was a Granary regular back in the day. Who could forget Tigers n Tarts nights back in the 80’s

    Tales to be told…

  7. Had enough booze one night in Dirty D’S /Minskys. The walls at that particular time were all mirrored. To cut a long story short, I tried to find my way out but couldn’t get by the mirrors. Must’ve been 45 minutes later I found myself back at the bar. Had another pint…..”as you do”

True, flats are identical to ones at the old victoria infirmary,5to6 stories high, flat roofs!!,with shops at street level like the new M&S at Battlefield rest.Dirty D’s ha,in my day was manky minskys…think Steve Martin in Roxanne for sticky carpets, finlays,Granary were top pubs,in their day,was at their openings, they have went all wotherspoons(shoit).it used to be a good crawl from newlands to jean Armour hic, back in day,the old Georgic still sells a sound pint tho.

  9. Granary was first pub in Shawlands to have a doorman, alien concept in shawlands but it meant it was full of the wonderful mwah2kisseez type who were ever so friendly.it was a great wee restaurant at the beginning, owned by same folk who then ran the buttery in w.end and Smiths in town.

  10. I would hope the regeneration brings Shawlands back to where it used to be….it was BRILLIANT at one time

  11. I stayed in Deanston Drive in the early 80’s

    Matrimonial home

Pubs, clubs and restaurants galore. No need to hit town…it was all there

  12. Does Findlays still exist in Shawlands?

In the mid to late 80’s I would visit it on a Friday night .

I was a young ,poseur of an estate agent then .

I used to date an absolute honey of a sales negotiator .

The place was mobbed at 18.00.hrs On a Friday night .

A 140 mile round trip for a Friday night out .

Those were the days,Findlays ,The Granary ,then Thhe Orchard park hotel in Giffnock .

A quick fumble in the car .

Then the 70 mile drive home .

Lawwell mafia are destroying celtic whilst eating their way into the £70M. Parasites the three off them.

    —————————

Just like a working person will “eat their way through” their salary, after it shows in the bank, to pay all necessary outgoings?

  14. Good Morning Celts – Grand Day To Be A Tim,

    TOM MCLAUGHLIN @ 11:29 AM,

Yet another bizarre post from your good self, could you tell me the point of posting a comment to me that doesn’t actually address anything I stated!?

Just some general ramble about some general malcontents who have agendas I generally don’t align with.

    Very odd…

How about going after the real agenda merchants.

    The Anti Brendan brigade.

    You know the ones!?

They blame Brendan Rodgers for the state of the Parkhead pitch six months into his new tenure, as over six years ago he highlighted concerns with…

You guessed it, the Parkhead pitch.

    Don’t believe the hype fholk…

    Hail Hail

  15. The pitch is poor and will only get worse some of players first touches and passing was woefully yesterday the penalty miss had an impact no doubt and after some terrible run ups and attempts our top striker should be the appointed penalty taker. Without Jota and a fully fit Abadda we lack the creativity to feed the striker hipefuy Khun can help and improve in that area. I hope the recruitment team deliver this week also. 🙏

  16. We currently lack experience in the side at present to help the younger guys that we bring in from all over the globe and that needs addressed for our domestic challenge and also more so for Europe to much inconsistency proves that I belive.

  17. Good morning all from a wet, wet, wet Garngad currently sitting at 10 degrees and strong wind forecast for all of us in fair old Scotia.

Any win does me but OMG penalties ffs our players should be embarrassed.

    We move on.

Off to watch wee Riley bhoy at his footy soon.

    Have a good day yall.

    D. :)

  18. Over the next month or so we have a bias of away fixtures whilst Sevco have a relatively benign set of games, mostly at home. It might not turn out this way but they may not drop much, if anything, between now and us visiting Ipox in early April. We will all have our on views on how we managed to blow 5 and 7 point leads but that discussion can wait.

For now any emergency/panic loan signings are unlikely to be regulars at their current teams which means match fitness is an issue. It could be well into February before we see them. Let’s hope that’s not too late for the league.

Re an article James Forrest put up earlier. I don’t think BR should be going out his way to protect the Board. If this all goes Pete Tong the anti-Rodgers briefing campaign will be ramped up big time. He should watch his own back.

  19. onenightinlisbon on

What has transformed us from a fast, free flowing and confident side to a slow turgid one hanging on against dross like Ross County?

I doubt the “quality signings” Rodgers talks about would make any difference in whatever system he is choosing to employ.

The buck stops at Rodgers (if you pardon the pun)….
