    What’s in the Stars.I was in the minority standing by the manager.right from the beginning, but these few weeks, have shown to me anyway,that looking and listening to Ronny I think this job is to big for him

     

    especially when he makes some wrong decisions ,and they backfire on him.I have said many times that Lawell took one big liberty, when he appointed Ronny to be the head coach of Celtic Football Club.and I don’t have to be influenced by anyone,I go to plenty of games and watch the hoops on the box.and to be honest,we are not a good team.so Lawell should say Ronny its my fault but its time for a change.

    Just back in from babysitting my aged old mammy ( just as an aside, if speaking in your sleep is any guide, my wee Mammy was word perfect on Hail Glorious St. Patrick and that cracked me up), anyway I am still worried about the settled will of the Celtic support that RD is a goner.

     

     

    I think I am as aware as any of the deficiencies in our play and of the limitations in Ronny’s attempts to fulfill his ambitions but…..

     

     

    I arrived late at CQN corner today and the chat was all about how nervous we were about the imminent fixture and how unsurprised we would be to fall one behind or drop points. A mood was being set and being reinforced. If you want to be agreeable with your fellow Celts it is much safer to err on the negative side and share the misery and network with the mineshafter.

     

     

    Even after a hard fought win against a semi-decent side, I heard two friends meet outside the ground, and these were two of the barely 5,000 of us who waited until the final whistle to blow before leaving (out of a 25k crowd, I would have guessed) and their safe greeting to each other was:-

     

     

    “That was hard work, was it no?”

     

     

    “Aye, we nearly lost that one too”

     

     

    We do not give permission to share our joy at winning. It was expected- no big thing- nothing to crow about- doesn’t change anything- we’re still playing crap.

     

     

    So where is the justification for our pessimism with Celtic? It can’t be just the last 2 games, can it? Is it still the Euro campaign hangover? Is it still being stuck in a pining for MON- the prince over the water- who we imagine might come back? (not if there is a vacancy at Leicester or Sunderland he won’t IMO). Or are we prepared to fulfill our man love for Henrik the player by calling him a Box Office manager? (even though he has a 30% win record at Falkenberg and only 35% at Helsingborg).

     

     

    Where is our pessimism about dropped points coming from? We have played 25 times in this league and won 18 times, losing only 3. Based on that hard evidence my default expectation is for a win and, without any claim to prescience or premonition, my expectation is fulfilled more often than it is disappointed. We have a 72% win record and we lose on only 12% of occasions. We drop points in every 4th match or so. So, no, we should not be expecting to drop points.

     

     

    Even taking into account two bad results at Pittodrie and Hampden we have won 5 of our last 6 league games, 7 of our last 10. Only Aberdeen are in better form with 8 out of 10 wins and no losses in their last 13 since we beat them in October. Coming on top of winning their opening 8 league matches, that is two periods of great form from Aberdeen.

     

     

    So, we have every right to be nervous about the prospect of Aberdeen sustaining their form but we do not have the evidence to suspect that this Celtic team will drop points regularly.

     

     

    We are winning regularly enough to win this league. If Aberdeen have the form and ability to continue this current 2nd great run of games, they will have deservedly won the league. However their Sept/Oct form after their first great run reads LLWLDL. Celtic have never had a run as bad as that.

     

     

    So why the shared and reinforced gloom?

    Successful teams garner more support than unsuccessful ones

     

    A team that gets to a European final like MON s team did will attract a lot more support than a team that fails to get out of the europa league group. That’s life, it’s human nature, everyone wants to back a winner,

     

    Plenty of people support the team win lose or draw. That’s the way it should be.

     

    One thing I can thank ronny for is that he sure as hell is not recruiting any band wagon jumping types

    I was brought up a Celtic fan,,,,Ronny or MON are as far away as Celtic fans that I know

     

     

     

    By the way growing up my father never picked holes in Celtic winning or not and my mum thought Celtic were the biggest waste of time in her family

     

     

    Not sure what physiologist would of this since I married a burd who thinks the Huns aren’t deid

    Up to a point. How are the crowds holding up at Alaves, Middlesboro, Fulham and Espanyol? All of them matched our UEFA achievement. MON restored us as a club to being effective again in Europe but he never got out of a CL group. We achieved that 3 times after he left but neither of the managers who achieved that higher hurdle got anywhere near the level of support and admiration from our fans and the crowds were predicted to go down while we were achieving these winninger ways. We have been hearing of downsizing since MON left and we have missed many enjoyable times as a result.

     

     

    We have bought, big time, into the narrative that it does not mean much while we do not have an Ibrox club to compete with.

     

     

    We are much much much much more likely to land Michael O Neil than Martin. Wonder how he stacks up in terms of cheapness, managerial experience, European club experience and success in only a diddy league standards?

    To what standards should Celtic aspire ?

     

    You,it would appear,are satisfied with success in our small pond from which some of the larger fish are temporarily absent.

     

    Surely Europe is the only criterion on which to judge our success or lack of same.

     

    Surely that is our principle standard.

     

    If it is,as I would suggest , our principle standard,theNnRonny is a failure.

     

    An abject failure.

     

    Currently, we are tolerating ” the management of decline ”

     

     

    Just ignore other factors for the moment, do you accept that Glasgow Celtic have a problem on the playing field ? Many supporters obviously do.Do you?

     

    Whose responsibility is that ?

     

    Where does the buck stop?

     

     

    IMHO ,there is a real possibility that Celtic will not win the league.

     

    Do you agree?

     

    That fact alone,at this stage of the season,is a hanging offence.

     

    Ronny will go.

     

    Hopefully before he can do any more damage.

    Happy – yes. Satisfied- no. But you can’t always get what you want and I’ve learned to live with that. BTW- hate to break it to you but one of the larger fish is permanently absent. However there will be a lookie-likey along shortly and you can treat them the same and buy into the same Continuity Myth that they believe, if that is your thing.

    It never was and never will be the only criterion, but it is an important criteria to do as well as we can there in that rigged market. The last 4 campaigns over the last two years have produced 3 disappointing failures. Yet, I am well used to it. We were relevant in Europe only from 66 to 74 with a wee last hurrah in 1980. All the way up to 2001 we were a European irrelevance so why would we now be judging the team and management on a criterion that we did not use to beat up Ceasar, Davie Hay or any other manager. Even Jock’s final 4 seasons with us produced an EC 1st round ko from Olympiakos, a Uefa Q-F knockout by Zwickau, a 1st round Uefa knock out by Wisla Cracow, and an EC 2nd round ko by Wacker Innsbruck. Wonder how their wage bills compared with ours?

    Yep, and that is true for every year that we have played. Posters have predicted it on CQN for evey year that I have been on here. Occasionally they have been right but MON lost 2 and was not sacked, WGS lost only one and we were glad to see the back of him but RD has lost no league yet.

     

     

    Need to head kipwards now.

    SFTB. The gloom comes from knowing In 6 months we will be up again against a team from the continent that has a fraction of our income, knowing our team will once again have no experience and be full of Peter Lawell projects ( who he hopes to punt to EPL if of any value )

     

    No ambition to build a team A coach who has no experience apart from a small club in Norway , knowing that we have no players to sell to paper over failures at scouting coaching and Ceo levels

     

    Now watch us go lower and lower and debt rise and rise No Europe. No players. No income

     

    But well done Peter on your bonus
