That was a sore watch on Saturday. The atmosphere ghostly!
But I’m still going to support my team at every home game. I enjoy being a Celtic supporter End of. Conditional or glory hunter fans can moan all they want. The team needs our support.
Get behind the team till the end of season and argue about everything then.

Cole, CKR and young Patrick Roberts do not fit the proclaimed Celtic signing strategy.
Neither have a sell on value. I stand to be corrected but CKR hopefully cost nothing as I suspect that is broadly the return we will get from this guy. as we’ve discussed previously Cole and CKR are basically Cifcti in older forms.
Take our expenditure on these 3, wages and all.. Would we not have been better with Adam Rooney or someone better? At least a proven scorer at SPFL level.
The truth is there is no plan. Partly CEO but also a succession of Managers who have been unable to impose a vision on the footballing side.
I don’t fancy Roy Keane but I’d take him if Dermott wants him.
We need a manager who is mandated to challenge Lawwell. Right now Lawwell is the first and last word as he has full backing of DD.
We need a growth strategy that screams ambition we’ve got a downsizing play it safe strategy that only serves the CEO reward
That said I’m convinced if we weed out poor players we have enough quality in the squad to muster a decent team.
I’m beginning to wonder why Scott Alan is slipping further down the pecking order…is he still wearing his Rangers top to training or something..?

Two possible reasons Lawwell didn’t go to Arsenal
1. He never actually got offered a role
2. He would have not been able to exceed the terms of his contract at Arsenal- he would only get paid that which is was contractually entitled to- unlike at Celtic where he was able to increase his maximum bonus entitlement by 40%
Re his previous employer – I think you’ll find one of them is also on the Celtic Board .
How do you feel about the inverse relationship between downsizing of Celtic as a team/ business and the seemingly unstoppable growth in CEO remuneration?

He got offered a bigger package to go to Arsenal. He stayed because he wanted to stay closer to home and he loved the club.

I love going to watch Celtic. Time was,my weekends were made for it. Now,my trips home are enhanced by it.
Even though I’m banned from Autumn games due to being a Jonah.
Win lose draw,the pleasure of the occasion and the company was and is immeasurable for me.
But even in the feast years,we had a right good moan. And usually with good reason. The same is true now.
You know my Dad. Happyclapping is his full-time job,never done reminding us how lucky we are,and were. He lived the dark days,and fair play for never losing faith.
But even he is struggling to support what is happening,and that’s the whole point. What is happening,and why?
It was all so avoidable,it’s an exercise in beancounting and superiority,with scant regard for the people who really matter,the fans who-despite what MR PASTRY et al say,provide the dwindling income to our club.

He will have had a rigid bonus entitlement at Arsenal whereas at Celtic his maximum 60% of salary bonus transpired to be 100% such is the ease with which he can manipulate fellow board members on the remuneration committee.
Now some folk on here ( Auld Bertie) think my ocd on this pint is driven by an envy over PL’s salary. To be honest, I’d love to be paid £20k / week but that is not my point. My pint is if PL’s contract was £20k a week that would be ok. Like any player or manager you are entitled to your contractual terms. What you shouldn’t do even if you have the ‘levers’ to do so is exploit your position and exceed your powers for personal gain.
This to me is symptomatic of ‘ power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely’ scenario we are experiencing that is ultimately leading to a diminution of the team, attendance , turnover and (underlying) profit.
If we fail in Europe this year – which player can we sell from the current squad to bail out the balance sheet?

Diminution of the team is inevitable due to economic trends in football. All we can do is develop a team of young players and hope they can perform above their expectations
There’s a difference between moaning and character assassination, it’s good times and bad times you support your club, me supporting everything Celtic isn’t a bad thing, and there are lots of things I don’t like and disagree with, that can happen in anything in life, but to constantly moan about it every single day ? I’d say you need to take up another hobby, no one should be that unhappy, and the dedication they put into it is astounding, it’s gone that far that it’s just hateful, against everything Celtic.
And they are dancing to the SMSM tune, to say they are not is just plain daft, your either agreeing with the SMSM , or giving them oxygen, let’s not be kidding your selfs, or put it this way, you’ll never hear or anyone from the SMSM saying what I say or post, not a chance, that’s a fact.
There’s talk on the SFM site that Sevco’s latest “soft loan” of £6.5m was secured against next season;s Ticket sales. That means they are in a worse financial state than we thought.
In every other league in Europe, they simply would not get a license to play in the top league due to improper financial management.
Of course a number of our so-called ‘projects’ have not worked out – however numerous signings for big big money don’t work out in the EPL.
There is no doubt we are ahead financially on our transfer dealings, otherwise we would loss-making every year and would have run up a substantial debt with have nothing in the bank.
We have brought through Forrest, McGregor and Tierney – we may get an improved Liam Henderson and young Nisbet at the end of the season. That could be FIVE from the academy.
We have other young players such as Roberts, Allan and Christie – these players were/are projects.
By bringing in the likes of Janko, Boyata, Johansen, Simunovic, Svaitchenko, Biton, GMS, Armstrong and Rogic, we have tried to shorten the ‘project’ time.
If we add the likes of seasoned first team regulars such as, Gordon, Lustig,Mulgrew,Izzy, Brown and Griffiths, we should be well served.
That’s TWENTY FOUR players – add in Bailly, CKR and Cole – that’s TWENTY SEVEN – of course two are out on loan – but surely there is more than enough quality to be performing better than we are at present.
As I keep saying we are well-funded – the problem is underperformance in football department.
Peter Lawwell is not God – however he’s a Celtic man – he is value for money – and I hope he is at the help for a few years yet.

The ole ‘downsizing’ label of convenience describes the attendances at Celtic Park.
Call me ignorant if they like I’v not got a problem with that, they don’t know me nor I them, so who cares.
But people who take out student loans and don’t pay them, ARE PARASITES,yes.
If 5 years ago your wage bill was £25M which was in line with the average across the sport and it’s still £25M but the average is now £35M, it’s obvious that the player quality will be reduced. It’s not downsizing per se but the effects are the same.
However, my main issue is people posting figures without context in order to make a point, which without said context it never does.

I don’t know what the KPI were but according to a financial document shared with me by Auld Heid the contractual arrangement was that 100% achievement of these KPIs entitled PL to a 60% bonus of his salary, however he was paid around 100%. Taking his £circa 560k/ year basic to over £1m.
