  1. Wouldn’t be Celtic if we won the 10 without drama.

Something big needs to happen. But it starts with sleeves rolled up and hard graft.

There’s no chance we will take weakened teams out to Prague and Milan but we should.

If Scott Brown has the ear and trust of the squad I would be tempted to give him a coaching role to support any new man that comes in (if that happens). A competent coach and tactician is required.

There comes a point when you know it is over. I’m afraid I’m now in that camp as far as lenny in concerned. Feels awful but something has to happen.

  2. A fiver for your thoughts on

    DENIABHOY on 5TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:07 PM

Worst ever home performance in Europe, since the last one a few weeks ago.

    We are going backwards.

Fitness, tactics, formation, hunger and attitude are all massively influenced by the manager and coach(es).

The players don’t intentionally want to play badly. The manager has to carry the can.

    His team, his tactics.

    —-

    We don’t have any tactics

    Pick 11 and play

  3. Lennon says there needs to be a change of culture over the next couple of days. Can you change a culture in two days?

And if so, why wasn’t it done before Ferencvaros? We could be in the CL and sitting top of the league…

  4. Onenight

Yep he said that and you are bang on. Motivating a team is one of the managers jobs

    and it just doesn’t happen

  5. Well, that was… horrific. It bears all the hallmarks of a team doing a number on the manager. Getting a message across in a high profile, but ultimately unimportant game. We’re never going to win the UEFA cup, so best to deliver the embarrassment in a game where you’re only playing for clout.

I’d urge us all though to go easy on the ‘Lenny out’ and snap decisions stuff in the short term. Opinions and actions in the heat of the moment are rarely well thought through or even rational. Let’s step back, consider where we are and how we might move forward. In 24/48 hours the unpalatable truth might be the same, but it’ll at least be considered objectively. If for no other reason, the media and the huns would love for us to make a reflex decision and move forward without a plan. They’ll also get acres of coverage at Lenny’s expense. If nothing else, Lenny deserves better from us.

Cynically, I expect Lenny to walk and Gordon Strachan to ‘caretaker’ for however long. I think that would be a bad decision. Calm heads are much more valuable, and god knows, we need to be calm and make good decisions. 10iar depends on it.

Apparently, the Tommy Burns banner was removed as it covers UEFA branding which isn’t allowed. Should be back for the domestic games.

  7. Tonight’s game was a “free hit”. We missed.

    A no-lose situation. We lost.

Bewildered I am. Players to blame. Manager to blame. Sure.

Genuinely think we have quality players who are given no direction and are for some reason are incapable of steering themselves, or unwilling.

Picking the Jobo-3 won’t be easy. I can think of two. But the third ….

  8. He said need to change the ‘culture ‘ in the dressing room? Whatever it is,he’s seen it,and done fk all about it….

  9. We have watched our standards drop massively since Brendan Rodgers left, there is a distinct lack of leadership that has allowed that to happen, management and board.

    It’s a real shame !

  10. Some suggesting Steve Clarke, imo he wont take it even if Scotland don’t make the Euros.

Eddie Howe would be a huge gamble. A no for me.

WGS another huge gamble, he’s been out for too long and another step back.

Peter and Neil are tight. But at what point does self preservation kick in? The big hitting shareholders cant be happy at watching consistent failure on a major KPI. Player asset value is plummeting.

I don’t know where we go from here.

  11. Ray Winstone's Big Disembodied Heid on

Martin O Neill, Eddie Howe, Gordon Strachan, Jack Ross, Chris Hughton. Fuxxake we are Celtic. We should be able to attract a shitload of established managers or rising stars to our world famous club.

Just need the will to do it.

  12. By my reckoning Neil had around £20m of his own signings on the bench tonight and yet that was the level of performance.

Even with all those signings, our starting midfield and attack were players who were here before Neil arrived, save for ME and even then, I’d bet that Neil would play MJ if fit over ME.

What a colossal waste of money. And people complained about Brendan’s signings and European record. What a joke.

  13. the entire midfield lacked any sort of energy tonight – rogic doesn’t have it in his tank and looks done. Brown has not looked on pace this season (age or form or something else – he appears mooted! who did he punch? ), Mcgregor needs a break and christie needs a break , both too leggy covering for brown and rogic.

We have been seeing this for weeks (defensively in the middle of park) – this puts our already weakened back line under HUGE pressure. Lennon as a midfielder and as a student of O’neil , should have shored this up.

El Hamed in defense – Biton in midfield – Welch in there – Turnbull /Soro

Time for the board to show the fans that our standards will not be allowed to drop – before its too late

  14. onenightinlisbon on

We are all hurting on here tonight and I don’t see any evidence of “Sleekit” huns as some of us have been called over the last few weeks.

I take no pleasure in calling for the manager and his backroom team to be sacked. However if we really want the ten (do our board actually care?) then it’s not too late to make the change.

We must however stop all the In Lenny We Trust pish now. He is a dead man walking and prolonging the agony hurts even more.

  15. There is no chance he will walk. He wouldn’t get another job.

I said after Ferencvaros shambles that he should have been sacked then and hoped we wouldn’t wait until it’s too late. Well it’s still not too late but it soon will be and another league defeat and it’s all over

  16. glendalystonsils on

A change of culture? That’s an admission that the culture has been wrong up to this point . A seriously damming admission . In pontoon terms , I was for sticking now I’m for twisting . I really fear that the 10 is lost either way though.

Our team is like an alcoholic who tries to fool people by staying off the bottle for a week or two then hits it harder than ever , thereby losing all trust .

Tonight we saw an average team , well set up and well motivated , hammer another team who were neither of these things.

  17. Ray Winstone's Big Disembodied Heid on

Aye. The only peepul saying in Lenny we trust are huns, or fellow travellers.

  18. DAVID17 on 5TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:29 PM

Eddie Howe is a gamble. Any managerial appointment is a gamble.

However, keeping the status quo is beyond a gamble – we’re playing Russian Roulette with 10IAR.

I’ve always been of the mind that changing manager at this stage is a massive risk. I’m now at the stage where I think doing nothing is a far bigger risk.

Rangers will be three points clear IF we win our games in hand. They’re improving and we’re going backward. We struggle against them in head-to-heads and our whole hope of winning the league is if they collapse again. This won’t end well.

  19. MARKIEBHOY on 5TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:13 PM

Guy said to me today -” the Hun are far better than you

with far worse players. And that’s down to the manager”

    BANG ON !

  20. P8DDY on 5TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:26 PM

Sorry to say but we have had several “the heat of the moment ” games already.

The time to act is NOW.

  21. Ray-we can only attract a shit load if we give them the keys .

Martin and Brendon where DD picks.

Let’s hope he is up for a 3rd😉

  22. we are a team who have won everything for years – good teams come to an end. The key is knowing when and taking action to stop the rot – how many indicators do the board need. This season has been a train wreck in so many ways (not all the manager or players fault).

Sometimes, change is all that’s needed to galvanize the team and freshen up.

not only have we not progressed or maintained standards – we have gone back into the shell of a team that reflects Lennons personality. Moody, anxious, cautious ,nervy –

I love Neil Lennon and always will – but I love Celtic more and its time for the board to take the situ by the scruff of the neck and get a plan in place to shift the energy and momentum!

Yep they are all a risk

Keeping Neil is also a risk

The question is …. what is the bigger risk ???

We have been hard to watch all season (a couple of times we have played as we should – but not very often)

You need a lot of faith to believe we will win 10 from here

    Has to be now pal.

Lennon talking about the culture in the dressing room? WTF

  25. ROLLING_STONE on 5TH NOVEMBER 2020 10:29 PM

To be fair to Brendan’s record in Europe, it was in the Champions League and not against a much-weakened Sparta Prague.

Could you honestly imagine the cricket scores getting racked up if we were in the CL?

  26. No Bobby Does It Petta on

Duffy has been an unmitigated disaster.

And oh the irony, it was him who injured Julien.

  27. When long established cqners, most of whom are known for being fairly circumspect and level headed, are calling for change in the dugout you know things are bad.

I don’t think I’ve ever called for it but we need a change. I don’t expect lawwell or Desmond pay much or any attention to us, but in case they do – frig sake lads, get yer fingers out!

  28. I’ve worked in supportive and toxic organisations

In toxic ones the effectiveness continues for a while but with inefficiency and growing stress on individuals in key roles

The most recent toxic org i was in resulted in lots of good people leaving and then a takeover where all the toxic people were punted

Instant change in output and more gradual increase in mental strength of the survivors

Imagine that was Celtic and you had it the other way round

Nail on head, and everybody except the manager could see it after the initial 10 minute burst of energy.

At 2-1. Ntcham was asked to warm up. Last time he came off the bench, it took 8 minutes, because it looked as if his laces weren’t even tied. Tonight, it took the same time, after he very slowly removed his layers of clothing. By the time he and Ajeti are on the line, it is 3-1. Our game management is just so unprofessional.
