  1. Great result tonight.seen lots of nonsense posted. Don’t forget. We are the champions. Every kid that plays football wants signed by us. So will play there heart out against us. That’s the way of it. HH and god bless….

  2. Much better performance second half.

Good that Ryan found his freewheeling way again..

In this formation the importance of the central midfielders in attacking the last third cant be underestimated.

The more they develop the instinct and habit it will create so much space for the forward and wide men.

    Re Broony pass.

At the time on Live Updates, I called it exquisite.

And that didn’t do it justice.

No announcement on his 2 year extension?

Apart from the great Frankie Miller I know a venerable Tim from Norman Street who lives here in NJ.

Liverpool one up drop 2 points at home to Leicester, just shows there is nothing easy in football. The clowns here who denigrate our performances calling us Pub Team Skelpers probably never played a game in their lives.

How true,it’s difficult to break down 6-4-0,i thought we tried to keep tempo high, and got our just reward HH

  7. Loved that tonight, was fffffffreeezing cold and oor Cal and oor Ryan made the difference. Magic.

Great to see loads of old and good regular names on and plenty positive comments. And some great satire too… hope you enjoy that tea T.

    2 things that I hadn’t seen mentioned until – HRVATSKI JIM on 30TH JANUARY 2019 10:57 PM

Spot on… what a ball, also the pace of oor Jamsiebhoy… would have been the icing on the cake. That was the first, the other was the touch by oor Ryan, before the sublime finish. He took 2 defenders out of play with a dummy… genius…

It’s great to be a Tim. Night all Hail Hail??☘️

I am hearing Celtic are linked with a 6 ft 2, international right back.

retired from international football after his last tournament he made 75 appearances for his country and is now wanting to prolong his playing career.

to date he has won 17 trophies in 2 countries.

suprisingly this veteran has played 42 matches allready this season for his club, following 48 and 46 the 2 seasons previous.

    he might slot in.

  9. wjere could the bbc reporter have got his paragraph title from ?

    ——————————————–

Celtic send out ‘ominous’ warning – analysis

In this extremely competitive season, Celtic have used their game in hand to establish a more commanding advantage – something that seemed unlikely pre-Christmas when the league lead was being exchanged almost on a weekly basis.

Celtic’s dominance and eventual attacking prowess is an ominous warning to others in the top-four positions, who have to muster the season-long title-challenging stamina to reel Rodgers’ men back in.

If captain Scott Brown does finally commit his future to Celtic in the next few days, it might offer the club that one extra spur to complete the job in the league this season.

St Johnstone were always in for a difficult night and their initially resolute performance was worn down. Wright will look to Sunday’s meeting with Celtic on their own McDiarmid Park patch as a better chance to show what they are capable of against the leaders.

  10. SS- VG,i thought the back 4and Bain, done well tonight, considering little game time together.

  12. that was never a penalty – ball to hand and unintentional. id be very disappointed if that was given against us.

great result and good to have Eddie back.

Overall happy with forward option. Not happy the board are not going that extra mile to bring in a couple of defensive players. We have a problem in both full back positions. These areas have cost us dearly for some time. We need to fix it, we have the money, but instead willing to risk the title.

I’m not saying we will lose the title – I’m saying why even give them a sniff – with the referees in full flow , we need guys that can defend properly.

PS the new RB from dortmund looks very poor – this is what you call panic buying!!

  13. We’re always told the January Window is hopeless, Summer Window is much better…..what happened last summer….fed up with excuses and loan players we will never own.

  14. BADA – me a naw. Fed up hearing about goalkeepers being able to pass the ball, center half being ball players , right backs able to get up the pitch. That all great, but first and foremost they need to be great a tackling. Results/tankings in Europe suggest we are not capable of doing that. Rangers tore us apart and should have scored 6 because we can’t tackle. Worried of further exposure for the rest of the season. Still think we will win the league , but we are taking a massive gamble at a critical moment in our history. IMO

“PS the new RB from dortmund looks very poor – this is what you call panic buying!!”

Nope- it’s what you call a rush to judgement- before an appearance has been made in a Celtic shirt.

The boy was in the U-21 team of the Tournament final 11 in 2017 alongside Dani Ceballos, Saul Niguez, Max Meyer and Marco Asensio and Federico Bernardeschi. He has played in the Bundesliga and CL and Europa League and was bought for 6 million Euros by Dortmund.

that was never a penalty – ball to hand and unintentional

    ===============

Agree that ball was to hand.

However – I’d make a couple of points:

    1. Was it a penalty?

Both of the defender’s hands were extended upwards (the ‘unnatural position’ explanation first aired on British TV when justifying a ‘penalty’ awarded against Bobo Balde) to deliberately create a larger barrier to a successful pass across the St Johnston goalmouth.

In those circumstances, it is definitely a penalty – I would not have been surprised to see it given against Celtic or any other team; that’s not paranoia – it is because it is a clear penalty.

(For the record, Bobo’s ‘hand-ball’ was never a penalty in a million years – the attacker’s head glanced a crossed ball in a direction going away from goal onto Bobo’s hand which was about six inches behind the attacker’s head away at the time).

    2. More importantly – why did the Referee not give the penalty?

I don’t know if you were at the game, but me and Wee BGFC sit behind the goals in the Celtic end, so has a clear and very up-close view of the whole incident.

As the Celtic players were protesting to him, the Referee indicated to the Celtic players that the ball had, in his view, hit the St Johnston player’s shoulder – the Referee very clearly motioned to pat his own left shoulder to indicate where the ball had hit.

He was indicating that the cross had not hit the St Johnstone player’s hand, but had bounced off his shoulder. That was the justification he was giving for not awarding the penalty – nothing about it being a non-deliberate hand-ball.

That’s what made this an even worse decision – it was blindingly obviously a hand-ball – nowhere near his shoulder. In full sight of both Referee and Assistant Referee .

It is – in my opinion – implausable that both officials thought it hit the player’s shoulder, as the Referee very clearly indicated.

Sorry – as my spelling illustrates – need my bed. Will check in in the morning.

I hope some of you see a replay that includes the above gesture by the Referee – I think (others may disagree) that it highlights a very strange decision – where both officials seemingly agree that the ball never actually hit the defender’s hand – which it very obviously did.

I’ve heard no suggestion that anyone thinks there was anything other than a hand-ball – whether you agree or not that a hand-ball would have resulted in a penalty.

Watch the Referee’s gesture of explanation – not indicating ‘accidental’ – he’s indicating that it hit the shoulder.

    Maybe I imagined it.
