  2. Best five I seen in the flesh,

Danny Bhoy, excellent captain as well as world class player

Paul McStay, excellent footballer, unfortunately at the time he did not have the same class of player around him for most the latter part of his career

Henrik, king of kings, what can you say

Lubo, one of the most naturally gifted players I have ever seen in the hoops, scored goals for fun with both feet, and was at the twilight of his career.

King Kenny, only seen his last few years with us, different class.

    HH Dan

  8. Having already posted who I would have liked to have seen in the flesh – now comes the difficult part – who I’ve actually seen over the past 60+ years in the Hoops.

    1) Jimmy Johnstone – without doubt the most entertaining individual.

    2) Kenny D – the most technically gifted ‘all-rounder’.

    3) Bobby M – the most accomplished midfielder.

    4) Big Billy – an extraordinary leader of men and ambassador for the Club.

    5) Henrik – the most lethal weapon in front of goals.

And a special mention for the Lions – an exceptional Team – masters of Europe – a collective that I am unlikely to ever see again wearing the Hoops.

Lisbon as a teenager – Seville in my 50’s – is there a Swansong before I kick the bucket?

I live in hope CSC. H!H!

  9. Best 5 Celts I’ve seen in the flesh…..in Oder ….

    Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish

    Bobby Murdoch

    Henrik Larsson

    Jinky

    Lubomir Moravcek or Paul McStay

  10. Captain Beefheart on

    Mention for Pat Spillane earlier.

He has a few connections with Celtic. If memory serves me well, he was given a pair of boots worn by one of our players.

  11. Best I’ve seen that I was old enough to appreciate how good they were

George Connelly ( my hero when I was growing up – was 11 when he destroyed the Huns in 69 with the third- strolling up and taking it off Greigy – waltzing round the keeper and stroking it firmly in to the empty net in front of 130K fans!!!!!!!)

Danny McGrain legend doesn’t do him justice!

K -Dal – what was his best position? Attacking midfield for me – could drive awhile game from there!

Lubo (just sublime – easily the best two footed player I have ever seen – remember those corners swung in from left and right with either foot!)

King of Kings ( love that man)

    HH

  12. My computer is giving me problems, when I start it up there’s a page full of instructions but it only gives me 15 seconds to read them, I’m not that smart a cookie that I can read all the instructions in 15 seconds, I was speaking to Zbyszek about 5 minutes ago and he says that I have to press a certain button on my keyboard but he forgets what key to press and he suggested asking some of you bright sparks if you know which button do I press.I await your instructions.

  13. Parkheadcumsalford

Not sure but I think there were some pitches off Carntyne Road – as you looked from St. Bernadette’s towards the dog-track.

My Dad (so he told me) used to do his kennel boy (Fri/Sat) and got the odd 2/6d (half-crown) when he tipped a winner to the ‘Dog’ MSM!

I vaguely recall some strange looking mutts at my Granny’s when I was a nipper!

  14. One of the issues raised by Latchford was if Celtic were involved in the 5 Way Agreement.

It is a belief held by many that may or not be true because on the surface how come it was reached without Celtic’s agreement?

Well what if instead of other clubs and Celtic getting around the table to stitch up a deal it was done like this.

All the other clubs don’t want to lose Rangers to the industry because of the money. Some would go to the wall they think.

What club wouldn’t go to the wall and might be happy to lose their cheating rivals or demand concessions?

Celtic – so let’s keep them out of things.

The terms are discussed by other clubs and presented to Celtic as what the other clubs will vote for.

Celtic appreciate those clubs dependency on RFC money and

    a) don’t want to kill them off

    b) realise that if it comes to a vote Celtic are powerless to object anyway.

Far fetched? Did anyone read the link to the LNS blog with regard to how the SPL reached a decision on response to LNS with Celtic sidelined?

    No?

Well do that before you decide here.

In the mean time accept that we just don’t know and are driven by our suspicions.

Fair enough but let’s leave a bit of room for uncertainty and benefit of the doubt. It might let the disinfectant of fresh air into our heads.

  15. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Croppbhoy

I never witnessed George Connolly but from a very early age my father told me he was the best he ever saw….. and he probably saw better than me

Good night and God bless CQN

Brisbane 67 all the very best apologies yet again my use of words could be better but also my us of words might not be needed if Ajax & Fenerbache could be described as also rans, I would love to sign Van Persie

    Hail Hail

  16. Oldtim,

If it’s a black screen with white writing and mentions something about safe mode, best to try to scroll to that option and hit your return button.

  17. For anyone feeling a little nostalgic I would highly recommend a wee scroll back to pages 22 to 25 and look for the various short you tube links provided by Saint Stivs. Had a great half hour there…

  18. Dan.

There’s a lot of writing on the screen but I only have 15 seconds to make a choice,by the time I read the first line the computer shuts down.

  19. Cannot stop adding players to a top 5 list, however I have a favourite image. I even have it on a t shirt, it’s the one of Big Bily leading the team out onto the pitch at Lisbon.

The look of a man on a mission? For sure, but to me looked like a man in a state of grace.

  20. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Rudi

Paul McStay could make the Lisbon team Henrik & Kenny wouldn’t

  21. Sorry Oldtim, not sure what it is then, maybe of the computer guru’s here might be able to help buddy.

  22. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    Roy,

I have seen those five men you mentioned, although I never saw Mc.Grory or Gallacher play.

I have also spoken to them, with the exception of Patsy, whom I saw at a special showing of the film Song of Bernadette in the Seamore Cinema in Maryhill Rd., circa 1950 ish.

He stood up in the hall and took a bow.

  23. Greeninbingley on

I was at Elland Road Leeds in 1970, first leg of the European Cup semi, to see two great George Connelly goals, at the beginning of each half.

Only one stood, the first. There was feck all wrong with the second either BTW. Wrongly chalked off.

Connelly was a player a team could be built around. He was world class.

  24. Auldheid…..

    Sunlight trumps disinfectant all day…….

Too much ambivalent disingenuous terminology on Resolution 12 these days…..

Rory Bremner joke isn’t funny any more…..

Resolution 12 is dead and buried and we know it.

  25. Rowley Birkin QC.

I’ve tried the F8 button,it didn’t work but I will try the other suggestion now.

  26. Danny McGrain

    Henrik Larsson

    Paul McStay

    Kenny Dalglish

  27. Greeninbingley on

    And still on the lists…
