    The Glorious Balance Sheet,

Scepovic, as alluded to in your post, was on loan at Gijon and they activated the agreed transfer fee. Celtic paid the fee that was being demanded and remember Getafe had offered slightly less the day before?

  2. Mullet and co there are laws against short term ceo behaviour. Should shareholder be consulting lawyers?

  3. Foxy ,

Only opinion HH was not a bigot.

He was an alcoholic — the snooker version of George Best. From a loyalist estate , with a God given talent and couldn’t handle the fame.

The Hun is threatening. Big time.

Are this shower up to it?

Had to laugh at various sites mocking them and reckoning they are 3 or 4 years away from threating Celtic’s dominance.

    Utter laughable nonsense.

They are right up our arses and our board have allowed it to happen.

Lawwell and co appointed an utter hapless manager in Ronny to run us totally into the ground and in utter desperation give us Brendan Rodgers in order to sell season books.

Well, can anyone explain what is happening now.?

  5. FOXY, 11:50 PM

My cousin knew Higgins, they used to go to the same AA meetings in the late 70s or thereabouts.

    A real bigot, then

    Neganon,

I’m not a shareholder you would have to ask them if they think the short term actions of the board will result in loss of profit in the coming years.

  7. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Who was on today saying the manager has the final say in who signs players for Celtic?

Think there might have been a few?

Half sauced so I apologise for a few things.

Neganon and Lucky C.All the best lads.

  8. Gerryfaethebrig – I love sumerlee. Great museum of ordinary people’s lives. Love the gates on way in. In memory of those who lost their lives as a result of work. Not many Lanarkshire people or connected to it that don’t have some experience of that in their families. these are the people who really genuinely sacrificed themselves for the rights we now enjoy (and are in danger of losing – which is an insult to them).

Didn’t mean for that to turn in to a soap box moment!

    Enjoy your days oot!!

A cursory glance at scepivic’s career record showed he never stayed more than a season at any one club.

Now that highlights major problems to me. Itchy feet? Consistently discarded as not good enough wherever he goes? Under the control of ruthless agents who want to sweat the asset?

    All of the above?

They All point to don’t touch with a barge pole.

And he had only ever been a consistent goal scorer in one season in the Spanish second tier, failing to set the heather alight in Belgium or Israel or Serbia and other stellar leagues where he came he saw and he left again very quickly

Ronny Deila jettisoned him with great speed.

As I said, a curious business.

  10. mullet and co 2 on

At the moment without further player transactions or European football, I believe Celtic would turn a profit

  11. TCR – the sevco that shipped more goals and dropped more points in the second flight against part timers than Celtic did in the top league despite us having a pretty poor season?

Even with joey Barton and clint ‘over the’ hill, I think you may be giving them more credit than they deserve.

    Greetings from The Azores.

We hired a car today for a few days to see more of Pico Island. Madalena, where we are staying is nice, but fairly limited in terms of places to eat and drink etc.

Anywhere on Pico Island, the view is dominated by Portugal’s highest mountain, Mt. Pico. We drove on a road which passed the extinct volcano to the north. The roads around the Islands are impossibly beautiful at this time of year with brightly coloured Hydrangeas and African Lily’s forming the hedgerows, with a backdrop of the conical extinct volcanoes.

We headed down to sea level, on the south side of the Island to the town of Lajes do Pico, right on the coast. Miles of Pristine blue Atlantic Ocean stretch out in front of you to the South. We stopped on the terrace of a wee bar for lunch and a beer.

Lajes do Pico was the main town for the whaling industry which the Azores became famous for. For two Euros the whaling museum was great value for money, and a fascinating insight into this most brutal occupation. The Azores only stopped whaling in the mid eighties. They must have been men of steel. Chasing large Sperm Whales in open boats powered by one sail, and oars. The Islands are historically poor, and whaling was an extra source of income to top up the money they made as barbers, bakers, carpenters, or from small holdings with a few cattle. We watched a narrated film of “the hunt” from 1970, Brutal to watch, but a necessity for the Islanders at the time. The museum featured the boats, harpoons and tools that the whalers used to catch the Sperm Whales. There was a fascinating display of “Scrimshaw”, etchings engraved on to the bones and teeth of the whales. The men who sailed in the global hunting boats from Nantucket and New Bedford, killed downtime by whittling their intricate etchings on teeth and bones.

Thankfully a new industry is growing up around these giants of the oceans, in the shape of tourist boats, taking paying customers out to watch the Whales. 50% of the worlds species of whales and dolphins can be found in the waters around the The Azores.

One thing myself and Mrs H have enjoyed here is the relative lack of tourists, especially from the UK. To offset this, there are more Amurkans than I am used to seeing.

After Lajes do Pico we followed the coastal road back around to Madalena, and after a stop in the supermercado to pick up some cold beer and cider, went back to the guest house and watched the sea, and the Islands of Faial and Sao Jorge from our balcony.

Great that Celtic won today. Thanks to all contributors to Live Updates. Hopefully the graph keeps going in the right direction for the imps on Wednesday.

    Ambassador Hunderbirds, Azores.

    What is happening ?

All I can see is some fans getting in a state about a team that pretends to be a now defunct team of the past, and they have learned no lessons of the now deceased team and are heading the same way spending what they don’t have.

Keep on acting in a professional manner Celtic pay the bills make sensible investments like we’ve done in our manager and we’ll see them off again.

  15. NEGANON2 on 16TH JULY 2016 11:52 PM

I think there’s an emotive angle that clouds or judgement as to whether or not Lawwell, Desmond etc are fulfilling there duties to the very best of their ability.

Are their fiscal responsibilities to shareholders something that can be set aside to include semantics?

We football supporters (and Celtic is even more special to us than what other fans are priviledged to feel right?) are ike what happens with journalists reporting on a conflict getting caught up in the “fog of war” .

I have more questions than answers. Yes of course I want Celtic to get the best product on the park. Who among us doesnt?

Question remains if Lawwells and therefore Desmond are going about things in such the wrong way why are they still there?

Surely others with a like minded perspective to yourself would see the opportunity to help Celtic and make money in the process. I cant think of many better way to live than that.

Thanks for putting me right on scepovic transfer fee, those career statistics are horrendous. Who does the due diligence on prospective signings at Celtic? Whoever they are, they missed a whopper with that one

    Robert and Aiden,

Warburton realises his team of last season wasn’t good enough to mount a challenge to Celtic. So,he has addressed the situation and signed about 10 players, some of them on big wages.

Make no mistake they will challenge Celtic

In my opinion shouting is a very Trollish trait but then again as the bold Brendan Behan said, “Every tinker has his own way of dancing”.

    ———————————————————————-

Thanks for that. Devoured much of his writings when I was younger and you’ve wetted the appetite to return for more.

For anyone that hasnt read Behan do yourself a favour. Even if you’re not big into reading, Behan’s a treat

  25. Only read to bottom if page 5 BTW… Was great to ‘watch’ the game live on the comments… Cheers to Gary67 for posting the goals.

Gotta say… I think a special CQNl award should be given to BMCUW…. However infrequent I’m on now… He’s always there

  27. AIDEN BHOY on 17TH JULY 2016 12:15 AM

See that’s what I’m talking about.

If Lawwell and Dermot are doing such a bad job which is apparently obvious to people in the know ( I’m not casting doubt on their word) then why are they still there?

Why wouldnt others see the op to do a better job and step in?

Including those moving in these circles many of us will never be in, why dont they cease the opportunity?

  28. CultsBhoy - likes Brendan Rodgers level of ambition- well done DD on

Lawwell’s game is now up… He’s in a precarious position at the moment.. BR is almost certainly less controllable than Deila. BR also has the direct ear of DD. BR has been a silver bullet to shocking attendances. He has a lot of leverage.

PL has ran out of cash cows to liquidate to make good the books following poor European outings.

It’s make or break – he invests and hopes or he doesn’t invest and fails,

I think most right thinking supporters who have paid close attention to the narrative are now on the same page…

The sooner he goes the better and if he fails and clings on BR will not risk his own reputation by remaining – he’ll be off and Celtic will end up managed by Lawwell and Park playing to empty stadiums …

I don’t have many ins at Celtic but I have one well placed source and by all accounts PL is no longer DD’s representative on earth as he once was…

Just noticed that Mary Shelley’s “Rangers” wiped the floor wi’ Murderwell today.

Sounds like McGhee wizny very cute today.

Kev J, if you are on, why do you hold McGhee in such high regard as a manager?… Serious question.

  30. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Brendan Rodgers,if he knows anything and has a firm hand has to do the essentials.

    Jettison Brown,Bitton ,Johansen,Ambrose and Lustig.

Then, and only then we might see a new vibrant Celtic.

    Get them out.

  31. Holy moley the delusion of some on here is scary, we can only hope it’s only in internet land they act like this and not in real life (though one of them did once let slip an awkward work conversation)
