We need to try and move some on to create space and funds for any potential new signings

Stokes, Scepovic, Kazim Richards and Cole have already gone, I would suggest we need another 10 out

    Mulgrew allegedly gone ?

    Efe, can go

Forrest, can go (last 6 months of contract)

Rogic, last year of contract with no sign of re-signing, we have other players who can fill in there

Allan, I do not see him becoming a first team regular

Boyata, we are supposedly after a new centre half or 2 (O’Connell or McCart showed today we have youth as back up, or even Ajer)

Fisher, contract nearly over or Janko ? Don’t need both, and young Ralston is there as back up

Johansen, last year of contract, sell

Commons, last year, sadly cannot see him playing much with Brendan looking for pace ?

Many would like to see Bitton go – Ajer in as replacement ?

Ciftci ? – not going to be a regular starter, although has done better last 2 games

There’s a start, and sign 3 or 4 players of a better standard, and pay accordingly ?

  2. I don’t entertain friendlies so did not attend today. Good to see a result and by the sounds of it a more decent performance. Looking forward to Wednesday to see our boys live in action competitively.

Res12 guys. Keep on keeping on. You are and have already done a brilliant job and I believe it is appreciated by the vast majority who are aware of it. Ignore the malcontents. I often question you guys on res12 but my focus in my questioning is not of your efforts but of the efforts of our PLC in assisting and ultimately securing a positive result. I’m not surprised by their inaction and obfuscation. But delighted they have dropped the ball expecting failure only to see you guys have a stronger hand than they suspected. More strength to your collective bow.

FCUK fashion the PLC and their malcontents.

  3. Cowiebhoy

Allan showed well today. He does try more difficult diagonal balls so gives away possession more than others but it forces defenses to move and with more anticipational runs from team he could be a success,

JF`- i think time to move on

Bitton- i always thought was a huge reason for our problems.Hopefully goes and money used to sign others.

    Commons-Go

Johansen and Rogic both should be sold if do not sign extensions.

Rogic has great technique but do not think he suits our style.

Johansen does not seem to see his future with us.

Boyata – can’t tell as i think defense were exposed with hopeless mids in front of them last year so lets see when fit?

Fisher looked good today but not sure of his situation.

Ciftci keeps improving so would give him the season to prove himself.

Ajer looks very good for one so young.Excited about him.

I abhor such language about anyone.

Recently I made a post and a responder used the word “vermin” about some other people. I did not respond as I, rightly or wrongly, did not want to engage with someone who uses such derogatory terms.

Don’t think that a lack of reaction means condonement by me and, I am sure, by others.

I do hope that you will not desert CQN.

  5. prestonpans bhoys on

I decided to give the game a miss and prepare myself for my holidays……to Turkey !

As for the ad’s I did like the suggestion that it was based on browser history, if it were then I must be a very naughty bhoy :0)

  6. Fan-a-tic

How some of us see things

Agree Allan does try to be positive, but loses possession or tries the Hollywood pass far to often for me, pulling the opposition onto us

I actually feel the same about McGregor, although he often just passes the buck, and at times has no positional sense or match awareness

I believe in Christie, Armstrong and Henderson we have better than the. 2 above

Although Mcgregor does find the Net

Incidentally a wee tactical thing today

First half, on a Wolfsburg corner we left a man on half way line, pulling out 3 Wolfsburg players – thank god a change there :-)

Celtic then have 10 players in box against 6

2nd half full team defend in our box

We now have 11 against 9

A wee bug bear of mine

Celtic corner, Wolfsburg left 2 players up the park, Celtic have 3 defending and 1 sitting in front of these 2

So 5 Celtic players attacking corner against 9 – Wolfsburg nearly 2 players to 1 in this situation

    Hail Hail

  7. Cowiebhoy,

Sevco have spent more than us this window.

Lawwell will offload and only buy if CL qualification is achieved.

He has lined up his favourite Israeli agent Dudu Dahan to find 3 or 4 projects. Why do we need St Ninians and Lennoxtown when Lawwell has his special relationship with his favourite agent. How much money has this agent made under Lawwell— nothing in the annual report. Who approves this spend —Lawwell or the Board. Why is Lawwell not transparent on the fees paid to his favourite agent over the last 5 years.

Is Dahan on a retainer where he is guaranteed a fee from his favourite club even tho no business is done—only asking like.

However in a dramatic turn of events forget all of the above time to investigate Scottish referees …or the SMSM…or artificial parks.

The elephant in the room operates under the CQN radar while all and sundry are vilified.

  8. Lucky Cody

Now I like your posts and always read them

    But

I have no interest in Sevco

They have not spent 1 haepenny this window, and will not, big Mike I believe has them by the short and curlies

I do agree with you on the risk averse strategy of Mr Lawell you have pointed out, though :-)

And there is a major problem with the John Park, Peter Lawell set up in identifying players

  9. Cowiebhoy

I never understood the rational of pulling all 10 into box at defensive corner as even if you cleared it gets returned immediately.

I like Armstrong and Christie is getting better while young Henderson has dig and movement.

But McGregor is very good at attacking space.

I would like us to spend most on a real leader at the back who will direct play.

No one seems to do this at present.

Also a solid experienced defensive mid though i think Ajer could be a real find there.

CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION on 15TH JULY 2016 6:12 PM

    ====================================================

Philbhoy, I think you are reacting with overt sensitivity to Canamalar’s post due to your own experiences.

I took it as an expression of exasperation at TD rather than an attempt at abuse.

Canamalar himself could have been seen to be was ‘accused’ of mimcking mental health issues by none other than our host but did he take mortal offence? No, he incorporated it into his monicker…

what I am trying to convey is that everything on here should be interpreted as a matter of CONTEXT.

Plenty here refer to the Scottish rag the Record as the ‘Daily Retard’.

I never assumed for a moment anyone was mocking the mentally challenged (even as I type that I can see some crying foul – is it offensive/un-pc even to use the term ‘mentally challenged’?), I assume it just as an slight against the Record’s deliberate level of competence.

Context. I think you were harsh on Canamalar’s barb. He’s not the sort of guy to use such cruel base insults; disagreed with him plenty myself but he’s no Hunnish mug that would seek to aggravate by low means.

Anyway, hope you get over it and keep posting.

  11. Enjoyed the game today even although it was baltic,

thought we would have seen the team for Wednesday play the full match,

and i am in the minority but i was not that impressed with young Ajer

  12. Oh and Lucky Cody

We do have too big a squad, and desperately need to reduce this – this strategy from Peter and John park has crippled us past few seasons

Many could have managed this situation better

Use the funds more wisely, attracting a better quality

    You’ll understand

If we spend £5m a season on these 10 players, then spend the £5m on 4 or 5 of much improved quality

  13. Clashcitybhoy on

    Enjoyed today’s game

Looked like a 4132 which switched to 442 in first half and 4231 in second

First time I have seen Dembele and I was pleased to see a striker with a first touch.

I’d suggest that those who started the game can be sure of a future at the club for this season at least.

The second half was effectively a trialsts 11, and for me, I wold keep Christie, The keeper and Janko. The rest didn’t show enough.

James Forrest did well when he had the ball, but showd no real appetite for the game ….in many ways not that different from Roberts in first half.

In saying that, I would keep Forrest – if we sold him, we would get <£1m, which these days doesn't buy very much, and given the money we have wasted in transfer fees, I'd suggest the risk of losing him for nothing next summer, outweighs the income from selling him now & renvesting.

Didn't agree with Ajer getting motm, as Brendan Rodgers said he looked very nervous at start.

My Motm was Stuart Armstrong .

  14. Cowiebhoy,

I know of one lawyer/ agent who provided a player to Celtic and feels that the Celtic door is closed unless your initials are DD.

  15. Sandman – Your heart is in the right place and it’s very easy to offend without wishing to.

After the 2014 WC, I remarked that Schweinsteiger at the age of 30, looked anorexic- being so thin for someone that age.

I meant no offence but somebody (I think with a daughter who had that issue ?), rightfully called me out.

  16. GORDYBHOY64 on 16TH JULY 2016 9:36 PM

Ajer, for such a young mhan, has skill, poise, tackling ability, vision and will be a legend for the Celts.

    Simples!!! Top class!

  17. What is J. Forrest the chicken heart for? I do not rate him at all. He has regressed.

    A no trick pony.

    Punt!

  19. Moussa get your boots sorted out so that you don’t slip on Wednesday.

Eric, wear one of those Petr Cech masks, but just play.

James Forrest, you had the captain’s armband today for a while. I hope that Brendan’s faith in you is vindicated. Wednesday would be a great time to start.

Nadir, I don’t know what’s in your porridge, but keep taking it and slip some into the lunchtime soup.

Stuart A., congratulations on passing your yoonie exams & on your play so far. Just last 90 minutes please.

Stuart C, good goal and great running. Composure in front of goal is so rare these days.

Tom, solid show and nice touches. Your best position is top of the diamond behind Griff & Mossa.

Kristopher, your earlier extra touches excluded, you did well. Now get in the gym & develop a Wanyama erchie.

Calum, you are a Charlie Gallagher which is no faint praise. Fine strike for the goal & love your ghosting about making runs into dangerous areas.

Winning is a nice habit & I hope we continue that habit on Wednesday.

Surface will suit us but we need committed guys all over the field – and correct footwear.

    Loved the North Curve.

I can only think of five players, poss 6 that I would associated with the agent Dahan. Given the huge turnover of players we have had over the same period of time, I cannot see that as being enough to suggest anything sinister.

His players are also far from the worst we have brought in, imo.

  21. Gerrybhoy,

yeah he is young and will learn,

but i thought his touch was poor today and some of his decision making just got him into trouble

  22. the glorious balance sheet on

    Dudu Dahan

I am deeply suspicious of this guy.

He has a vested interest in bringing complete and utter mince to Celtic. And has got away with it for too long.

Money to be made in bringing the mince to Celtic Park in the first place. And even more money to be made in securing said mince a loan move again 6 months later when it’s clear his client should never have been near stalybridge Celtic far less Glasgow Celtic. Scepovic and balde being two examples of this on the Dahan roster.

  23. I was far more impressed with Ajer than O’Connell. Thought our goalie was excellent immediately after their goal. He followed O’Connell down the field and tapped him on the shoulder to show support for him. In the circumstances, the right thing to do for the young lhad. He wasn’t at fault for the goal, imo; unfortunately, it seemed to unnerve him.

  24. Interesting game today.

Do I need to duck to avoid flack by being “impressed” with Cifci? The guy put in a shift today. I also think he looks a fair bit lighter.

Got more satisfaction from the second half. Perhaps less talent, but made up by better shape and more energy and desire. Liked Allen, Christie, Ajer, Cifci.

Roll on Wednesday, we should be targeting to absolutely blow this team away.

  25. I enjoyed today. Thought the 2nd half team performed better than the 1st, though I suspect the latter contained the bulk of the starters for Wednesday.

One concern though is that someone (Rogic / Allan?) lost the ball in midfield around the halfway line on the jungle side and, with one pass, Wolfsburg had a man through on goal. Clearly we haven’t learned from the last few years in Europe. It should be OK/expected that we lose position in such positions. It is not OK that the defence isn’t ready for such situations.

We really need to get these lapses sorted. It will cost us again this season if we don’t.

  26. Gerryfaethebrig on

On the Duhan subject…..which I shouldn’t comment as I know heehaw about him (hasn’t stopped me before) Kayal, Biton & Ambrose……. 3 internationals who could have worked, might have worked, maybe didn’t work

Shock horror Celtic board works with an agent involved in transfers makes people money, might make Celtic money, might not work…..

Why no inquest into the agent(s) involved with Ki, Wanyama & Virgil ?????

  27. The huddle @ 9.48pm

    Thanks.

This link highlights the gross incompetence of Lawwell spending Celtics money on absolute dross for several transfer windows whilst selling our best players.

Frightening the damage he has done and continues to do.

Of course he has his puppet plant stories that Arsenal and Sunderland are after him. Absolute nonsense Lawwell is a very poor speaker and would never be accepted at any major London club. I occasionally pop into to them as I am London based these days—more for the corporate chit chat rather than the football.

Lawwell has run our club into the ground——his legacy will be SYSTEMATIC DOWNSIZING and the HIGHEST PAID EMPLOYEE IN CELTICS HISTORY without scoring a goal.

He has dragged us down to Sevcos level and then some based on the semi final.

Why is he still being allowed to damage our club and line his pockets to the tune of £1M/ annum

    ——————

So how many were DD players?

Please don’t say you are making things up??

  29. B2K, I agree with you, always wary of posters who SHOUT during their posts.

If you have something to say just say it, you might get a response or you might be ignored, Big deal either way.

  30. B2K,

Just look at the facts then make your own mind up. We are heading for 3 CL failures under Lawwell totalling £90M lost revenue. The numbers tell the truth.

  31. Kill Ultra,

I agree that the whole agent/recruitment ownership area needs investigating.

Looking at the direct transfers you continually mention Dudu Dahan.

Ambrose, Kayal, Bitton with Gershon on loan. Looking at the reported transfer fees, the fact that they are all internationalists what specifically is your concern?

Efe is Efe, he has 51 international caps however. Kayal looked a class act until the injury. He was Brighton’s Player of the Season. Bitton is everyone’s cup of tea but maybe in a different league/club? There has been talk of other clubs looking at Efe and Nir.

Gershon was only at the club for a short time (loan) and made 3 starts.

I am not saying there is nothing wrong with the recruitment at Celtic but I would be interested to know what specifically is the cause for alarm in respect of Bitton, Kayal, Ambrose given what they reportedly cost, the number of games played and potential re-sale, what is the issue?

Can you tell us how much Celtic paid for each for example? Where’s the evidence?

You’ll note that Dannan no longer represents Ambrose according to what I can see online.

    Thanks in advance.
