Celtic will need to dig deep for victory

1054

Neil Lennon’s most inspirational victory over Rangers arrived in January 2011 when a depleted squad in poor form outplayed their rivals.  Despite this it remains a concern that Gary Hooper and James Forrest, the manager’s two most favoured players, are injury doubts for tomorrow. Whether Hooper and Forrest are fit or not, we’ll need all the fighting spirit from the win last year if we want to leave with another win.

Six days ago at Hampden we witnessed what happens when a team in the middle of a results slump focus on the most game they have left in the season.  Kilmarnock are a team with enormous vulnerabilities and I’m prepared to bet than none of you witnessed their last win over Celtic in Glasgow, but they got the result.  Tomorrow is the biggest game in Rangers’ season.  You can forget about Ally McCoist’s comments that Celtic are firm favourites, that’s what passes as mind games across the city. Any win would be an enormous achievement from Celtic.

Even in despair and poverty they cannot find it within their psyche to embrace the humility and contrition that would be their salvation.

  5. Anyone going to the debt dome be careful, they are hurting, their club is on almost dead and these animals will lash out, the police are prepairing for big trouble. I get the feeling that their on field tactics won’t lessen the ferrociousness of the atmosphere any.

I think we will win by two clear goals. Enjoy the moment , but as the US Marine core advises ” Stay Frosty Out There!”.

    This is our moment.

Very, very envious of fellow bhoys who will be there today. Firstly for the gloat-fest but, more importantly, to see a once-in-a-generation league title win at the Death Star.

    Everybody enjoy the day.

    Looks good to me.

Other option is play Super Joe at LB

    and play Charlie at CH.

That team would do me if Forrest and Hooper unfit. Stokes in reserve. Tall team to Combat the hammer throwers, control the midfield, win the game.

    Cannae wait!

    Mon the Hoops!

  11. Never confident playing them but so want this victory today to make up for the years of cheating by them. Thinking about the characters from my past who would be watching today if they were with us. Celtic men like Michael Dan Boyle, Johnny Boyelan, Francie Whelan, Davie Cuthbert, Jimmy and Joseph Owens, Peter Connelly, Jim Anthony,John Devine, and Big Brian Brady. God bless them all.

  12. CM should be at CH,

Morning all from gay Paree, the sun is up and the sky is bleu.

I get the impression that today could be really special, and the beast will be finally put to the sword.

A wind of change is starting to blow through the game – and more – in Aul’ Scotia. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen.

The eyes of the world are starting to get a look at the dirty little secret.

    The gemme’s a bogey.

We can only hope that the Killies, the Dunfermlines and the Motherwells make the right choices in the coming weeks and months, and we all move on to a better place.

In that better place, there will be no Rangers 1873: they will be slain today.

    Stay safe out there.

  18. An Gorta Mor – The Great Hunger – The Famine from this tragedy Celtic Football Club was conceived. A club groomed to live an ethos and always to remember that we did not all get to the end of our road before we are taken – They may mock our remembrances and our personal grief.

Jock Stein gave Scottish football to the world and in return a nation was awed in respect. For what he did for Scotland and Scottish football -They may mock him.

Tommy Burns did not give the nation humility, he just humbly lived it. He was a good man, he knew the value of family and with him there were no barriers to inclusiveness. For what he did for the needy – They may mock him too.

Each and every one of us has a story that should be told; each and every one of us could shock and shame humanity if we ever did decide to sit down pick up a pen and without malice put down on paper (for maybe nobody to read) our own experienced oppressions – borne of sectarianism, and our own experienced nightmares -borne of intimidation and our own experienced tortures, whether physical , psychological or sociological – borne of prejudice, and in compassion… They to mock with a taught and encouraged passion.

So many have gone before me (and you) and the one I loved the most and looked to whenever I needed advice or guidance, he has gone after decades of mockery and downright filth thrown at him and all that he tried to achieve. I don’t think he would say to me that today is the end and that we can all rejoice, but I think he would say to me that regardless of the score, today is our day, for whether we win or lose, the world is watching and so many questions are being asked as to how we got to here. Journalists’, free of agenda, brotherhood or prejudice, from around the world are sharpening their pencils and asking pertinent questions. Answers are being given and they are being heard. The eternal and indelible shame of Rangers and those complicit in the longevity of the scourge, none more so than the Scottish media, is going under the spotlight today.

Rangers did not set out to embrace prejudice, but sure as hell is hot they were a very welcoming vassal are a very fitting role model for those enslaved to bigotry and with a mind befitting of the KKK.

I hope we send them on their way with a chorus of laments worthy of all the Clann An Gorta Mor (Scottish or Irish), Jock Stein , Tommy Burns and every one of our loved ones who is not with us to witness the end of their shame as we know it.

With their deceit they have written their own epitaph, history beyond Scotland will remember them for what they did and are; we should grace and mock it with appropriate reciprocation to that that they have delivered to us for fifty years and more.

May today be a good day.

  19. Wee Dawylll really hurting on Talksport there, I hope someone gives him a wee cuddle and dries his eyes.

MWD: some post mate. I suspect he’ll have been caught for something else and his cell ‘mate’ will be force feeding him green jelly tonight with a plastic spoon :)

  20. This is the day when Lenny becomes a true legend.

On CQN I predicted Hearts 0-4 Celtic and Hibs 0-5 Celtic. I’m going for the away-day hat-trick with Rangers 0-3 Celtic.

It could be more but I won’t be too greedy. They really are a hopeless shower and couldn’t live with an in-form Celtic team. I will enjoy watching Ally squirm.

Bring it on and let’s enjoy the worldwide party.

    hail Hail.

  21. OK pre game 8k run (wearing the hoops), mass and other good luck rituals over with…..off to my 125th Celtic Rangers game …….how fitting if it is the last one that we win the league there…..

    C’mon the Celtic !

Stand by the Haagen Daz production team ……

  22. Morning all. Lovely day for IT.

I must be getting old (or mature?). In years gone by, I would have hardly slept this week what with last Sunday and this. But, no. I have been able to get what passes for me as a good night’s sleep every night.

My wish for today, apart from the obvious, is that we all get out of that den of iniquity safe and sound.

  23. I feel strangely calm this morning. Of course I want a win. I want the title. I want the party. I want to see them all walk away early.

But a draw wouldn’t be a disaster. We could still take the title at home next week. And if the unthinkable happens then it just delays things a little. We will still be champions and they will still be liquidated.

What a position to be in.

Winning it today would be great though.

  24. the hooped crusader on

Well the day we have been waiting for is here, nerves starting to kick in now reading the blog.

Go to my auld mans to watch the game today, it’s a happy hunting ground as far as these matches are concearned.

My prediction for today is a narrow victory for the good ghuys but it will be a battle.

Let’s hope our young team are stung from last weeks result, they can make some history today.

I think big Sammi could be the mhan for us today.

Let’s gets this mob turn over.

    C’mon the Hoops.

  25. Good morning from sunny Manchester.

Same advice to all you Bhoys and the team at Ipox or around and about in Scotland.

Stay together, be resolute and be proud. We are champions in all nut the points.

Show no fear. Show we are the best team and support bar none.

Rise above their bile. Rise.above their fouls and elbows.

Remember jelly and ice cream. A win is the cherry on the top.
