Celtic will need to dig deep for victory

1054

Neil Lennon’s most inspirational victory over Rangers arrived in January 2011 when a depleted squad in poor form outplayed their rivals.  Despite this it remains a concern that Gary Hooper and James Forrest, the manager’s two most favoured players, are injury doubts for tomorrow. Whether Hooper and Forrest are fit or not, we’ll need all the fighting spirit from the win last year if we want to leave with another win.

Six days ago at Hampden we witnessed what happens when a team in the middle of a results slump focus on the most game they have left in the season.  Kilmarnock are a team with enormous vulnerabilities and I’m prepared to bet than none of you witnessed their last win over Celtic in Glasgow, but they got the result.  Tomorrow is the biggest game in Rangers’ season.  You can forget about Ally McCoist’s comments that Celtic are firm favourites, that’s what passes as mind games across the city. Any win would be an enormous achievement from Celtic.

  2. Referee Conroy

““People talk about the Fortune incident but I’ve watched it, as you would imagine, hundreds of times and I would still give the foul,” Conroy told The Sun.”

His own words condemn him even although others have thrived on such poor decisions.

  3. Come on you Bhoys in green.

#Celtic Forster, Cha, Rogne, Mulgrew, Matthews, Brown, Ki, Ledley, Wanyama, Samaras, Stokes.

  4. Afternoon everyone,

Reckon the huns gameplan (aside from assaulting us) relies heavily on them scoring first and scoring early. Keep the ball for the first 15 20, frustrate the hell out of those who claim not to walk away and i reckon we’ll be set up nicely for a few goals. Got a feeling Commons will score so a fiver on him 3 0 150/1, may as well pay me now. Would love to hear Neils team talk, you just know its gonna be a belter! Cmon the hoops!!!

    Strong bench…

  7. Thats the team I picked last week for this game minus Matthews at left back. id still play Ledley in there and put in Commons. I have a feeling scorers will be Mulgrew and Stokes. Early sending off and early goals

It is most obvious that NL reads CQN and considered my team selection and has decided that is the one to go with. ;-) In Lenny we trust.

Agreed. I worked with Calum many years ago and also played 5’s with him. A fine goalie. He is Hearts to the core, but a good honest referee. Like the rest of us he is not immune to making mistakes. He is fair minded.

  11. An historic day.

And what d’ye know ? Three more consortiums from a distant galaxy will be tabling bids right before kick-off and jetting in soon and etc etc…..

The bluenosed followers must have their bread and casinos.

Just score as many goals, Celtic, as is humanly possible.

And I would like to see them emptying Ibrox long before the final whistle, a mass walking away if you like.

    That’ll do me.

  12. CELTIC (4-4-2) Forster; Cha, Rogne, Mulgrew, Matthews; Brown, Wanyama, Ki, Ledley, Samaras; Stokes

Subs: Zaluska, K. Wilson, Izaguirre, McGeouch, Hooper, Brozek, Commons

Bah, NL obviously thought my team was p**h and went for a 4-4-2 and ignored my 4-5-1 formation

  13. My dear departed Dad arrived from Donegal to Glasgow in the 50s. He supported Celtic with a passion (although he got even more “mad” when supporting the Donegal Gaelic team…..)

Even though we went to a number of Celtic games together, we never went to a derby game. In fact once he forbid me to go one when I was 15. I respected him and did not go.

Today is one of those games my Dad would have warned me about.

I now live in France and will be following from a distance. For those going, enjoy yourselves but be careful. And to everyone in Scotland (and Norn Irn) be careful.

    Come on Celtic!

    Hail Hail

  14. Like the look of the team except the FB postions. Would have ahd Luistig @ RB, Charlie @ LB and Kelvin @ CB with Big Tam

    But, in Lennon I trust

    Hail Hail

  15. Hopefully the Bhoys will we well up for it after the disappointmet of last week. Looking for Ki to take control of this game from the off.
