Celtic will need to dig deep for victory

1054

Neil Lennon’s most inspirational victory over Rangers arrived in January 2011 when a depleted squad in poor form outplayed their rivals.  Despite this it remains a concern that Gary Hooper and James Forrest, the manager’s two most favoured players, are injury doubts for tomorrow. Whether Hooper and Forrest are fit or not, we’ll need all the fighting spirit from the win last year if we want to leave with another win.

Six days ago at Hampden we witnessed what happens when a team in the middle of a results slump focus on the most game they have left in the season.  Kilmarnock are a team with enormous vulnerabilities and I’m prepared to bet than none of you witnessed their last win over Celtic in Glasgow, but they got the result.  Tomorrow is the biggest game in Rangers’ season.  You can forget about Ally McCoist’s comments that Celtic are firm favourites, that’s what passes as mind games across the city. Any win would be an enormous achievement from Celtic.

Not sure if you know I’m only a Regional weather reporter and one of many on this fine site. ;-)

  2. Morning bhoys

    When we win today .

Would love to see the whole Celtic end do the huddle towards the pitch and Hun stands so they can see the happy faces of every Celtic fan and send the TFOD home to hide in a dark cupboard.

Come on you bhoys in green……just win.

    Good bless Neil Francis Lennon

  3. My son tells me Emilio Izaguirre starts today. I hope that means Mulgrew partnering Rogne with Ledley in midfield.

  4. Today could be one of Celtic’s greatest ever days, I sincerely hope it will be. Neil Lennon deserves to win it there and this will probably, in their shallow minds, be Rangers worst ever day.

Make it happen Celtic and finish them for good and let the whole World see how they react in their songs of defiance, is Platini going to be there today?

As always, I hope all Celtic fans are extra careful today and tonight and try to make sure everyone has a safe passage home. It is a lot more important that everyone gets home to their family safely.

To the players and the management team, step forward and become Celtic Legends.

No quarter given on the field today Celtic.

  5. Celtic Supporters live the Celtic ethos as and when they can and in general they do fair justice to our mission.

If it was not for Celtic Supporters, rather than watching this game at home surrounded by family and friends, this Supporter would be squashed in a wee sterile hospital room.

Celtic Supporters gave this man the ability (albeit limited) to continue to live and experience the Celtic Story too.

  6. Good morning everyone – a bright and sunny day here in Lanarkshire!

Linked below are some thoughts re the plan A for Rangers to exit administration – the share issue. It was meant to be how was that affected by the Ticketus decision, but the more I worked through it, the more it struck me that the gravitaional pull of Jupiter has as much impact on the issue of the share issue as the Ticketus Scenario.

It has far more bearing on an asset sale though, which will be mentioned in the next post, and seems good news for D&P, to some extent.

Carpe Diem Celtic and write another piece of The History.

Stay safe, and tell all your young ones to stay safe today and tonight.

Mark Burchill – now playing in Cyprus – in today’s Scotland on Sunday:

“The football is completely different. It is less physical, more tactical, almost like chess, and there is not one long ball played. They try to learn from the big countries here. They don’t have the football tradition that Scotland has so they’re open to anything. Their coaches go to Spain to get better. I’ve learned more about tactics in the last two years than I did during the previous 15 in Scotland and England.”

Burchill, whose club are based close to the holiday resort of Ayia Napa, lives in Larnaca, where his children go to school, but he has been back in Scotland to do his coaching badges, and never loses touch with his homeland. When Kilmarnock, one of his former clubs, lifted the Scottish Communities League Cup, he pointed out on Twitter that he had recommended Dieter Van Tornhout, scorer of the game’s only goal, to the Ayrshire club.

Thanks, Mark ! But, mainly, Thanks for the last goal in that 5 – 1 game.

You deserve your time in the sun………Son.

  9. Hope Sammi has a couple of good runs at their defence. He tend to draw the fouls

and resultant yellow cards early as his pace and control are difficult to contain.

I expect them to lose the rag and at least 2 players.

Elbows will be told to behave and will hide for the duration.

We have nothing to fear from this mob today.

    Isnt Karma something else

It’s like the planets aligning or something to bring us to this particular

    time and place.

Neil Lennon leading his young team out at Ibrox to destroy their season

is every huns worst nightmare unfolding in front of them

I hope we show no mercy

    Stay safe everyone

  11. time for change on

On the day of the Glasgow Derby.

Good luck to the team today for the first time ever I’ve bet on the game 7-0 to Celtic at 500/1.

    You can tell I don’t bet often……

See that the group of ten are trying to get their advantage out of the current situation, let them come out and say what they really want and how this will improve Scottish football…yeh right.

Hoping for a victory today Neil deserves it as much as any man and following the so called ‘shame game’ last season so does his direct opponent….

Whatever happens enjoy the game one and all of the Celtic family and stay safe.

Anyone have link to Paul’s appearance on Five Live this morning.

Good Morning all from a sun kissed Dublin. Losing an hours sleep meant the day of reckoning came even quicker :-)

    I

Incredibly I won’t get to see the game as my young daughter makes her stage debut today and we promised we would be there. To be honest I’m looking forward to it as I think today could be very tough for anyone connected to Celtic in bigotdome. But God is good and the truth will out.

    Hail hail

We need leadership and bottle from the bhoys going in to the cesspit today..They will kick, elbow and provoke from first whistle. We must show restraint and not give Murray a chance to issue a red card.I’m sure the Match Commander has told the MIB which outcome he favours.

  15. Joe Filippis Haircut on

What a stoater of a morning… A hunskelpin day if ever there was one

Kit, smashin post. I read Phil’s post on the point that all of the major cities affected by Famine immigration had a memorial in commemoration, with the exception of Glasgow; the only one in the whole of Scotland being at Carfin. A poster on that article hit the nail on the head for me – stating that Celtic is our memorial.

BTW, Sally is gettin funnier and funnier… I see that he used “unleashed” and “Lafferty” in the same sentence. Sorta like tryin to beat sumbdy to death with a wet bogroll.

  20. We have a win/win situation today.

Obviously if we win then we win the SPL.

Even if we do not, we get to laugh at Rankers. Sing Cheerio as they ‘walk away”.

It is a party. Enjoy it.

    Farewell, goodbye, cheerio.

    We shall not be moved.

  21. Good to see Calum Murray is referee today. I know he has his detractors on here but I honestly believe he is fair and has the bottle to stand up to the Ibrox bully boys.

  22. MIB..Callum Murray?

  24. Sunday Morning.

The day of the apocalypse. Armageddon and Parousia all rolled into one great big square slice sausage, thinly spread with some brown sauce and a touch of mustard.

It sits on the plate staring back at me with that sort of coquettish look that Angelina throws my way in an attempt to stop me going for my early morning run.

I give in in the same way as her beguiling, bewitching lingering whisper draws me into a search for the meaning of life; I make that first incision with my sharply honed surgical knife and place the answer to Scotland’s love affair with heart disease on my tumescent taste buds.

    Anyway enough of that nonsense.

Today like so many on here we all face that problem that comes with age, failing eyesight and a reflection that tells mire lies than Tony Blair.

It’s the 25th March, sun shining, and as I prowl around my bedroom with great views over the southern necropolis, suited, booted and pacing the room like a demonstrably dazzling, demure, dolly-delighting debonair dandy, out of the corner of my eye, in the full length mirror, I pinch an inch which seems to have metamorphosed in to yank a yard!

    Hmmmmmm

    Should I wear shorts?

    Can the women stand it?

“ More mustard please Angelina” I shout

“Come back to bed” she whispers in that drunk ravaged guttural way that coal falling into an empty cellar does.

“Only after you’ve put spread some mustard on yer shoulders, and splashed some essence of soda scone behind yer ears”

    “I’m ready she calls”

I’ll worry about my dressage a bit later I think!

    Hail Hail

  25. Well, for my money we have one of the best hunskelpers of our modern age in the coaching staff.

    Mr Alan Thompson

Like Lubomir and Henrik, he knows everything about going to Megiddo and leaving with the honours.

I hope our young men are talking to him today.

More importantly I hope they’re listening to him.

    Carpe Diem
