Change needed at Premiership, Dave at it again

258

I know people are sensitive about their place in the football food chain, you and I certainly are, but when two clubs are promoted to the Scottish Premiership, only to find their managers leave before May is out, we should contemplate why?

Jack Ross finished top of the pile with St Mirren and left for a dysfunctional, but comparatively wealthy, Sunderland.  We played St Mirren in the Scottish Cup on our way to the Invincibles Treble and Brendan Rodgers suggested they were the best Scottish team we faced that season.  Ross might become a top manager, or he might be a cheap throw of the dice by Shredder Martin Bain the new chief exec, who is now working his magic as Sunderland chief exec.

Livingston lost David Hopkin this morning amid rumours he is set to take over at another English League One team, Shrewsbury Town.  On paper, Hopkin ticks boxes, albeit based on two seasons of successive promotions.

I cannot blame either manager as both will be offered deals that St Mirren and Livingston, but there is disappointment that the Premiership will be left with two significantly weakened promoted clubs.  As well as Hamilton Accies.

I hope St Mirren prosper as they have solid fundamentals and if they punch their weight will comfortably survive, but the league does not benefit from having teams smaller than St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Motherwell.

Two divisions of 10 teams sharing the bulk of SPFL commercial income, while recognising the already-semi-professional rest of the clubs as community enterprises, with play-off-only access to the second tier, would allow clubs like Falkirk and Dunfermline to share a bit more of the cake and take a longer term development view, instead of binning their youth strategies, as Falkirk just have.  Middle order clubs like these two would benefit enormously from budget predictability.  Community enterprises can be a great focus for an area, but not if a director is trying to play Fifa (reference for the youth demographic).

Another day, another Dave King statement.  ‘But, but, but……’, I paraphrase.  How to burn bridges and lose influence in one easy lesson.  He is trying very hard to put pressure on the Scottish football authorities.  It will be interesting to see if they are inhibited when it comes to dealing with Oldco’s 2011 Uefa registration.

They have him in ipox somehwere holding a flag above his head.

The scarf, him and the background do not fit, they are all at different colours/contrasts and brightness.

Have a look at the position of the scarf, his fingers and his wrist. he must have 3 foot fingers!!

Didn’t see it on Etims but you’re very warm with the ex hun description. I’ve read some funny stuff over the years and I really shouldn’t continue to be surprised at the absurdity of the recent outpourings from Govan but I am. Radio rental over there.

  4. From yesterday’s New York Times:

“European soccer’s top financial investigators have recommended excluding the storied Italian club A.C. Milan from continental competition for violating rules that limit spending, according to two people involved in the process.

A final decision on whether UEFA, the governing body of soccer in Europe, banishes Milan, a seven-time European champion, from participating in the Europa League is due in early June. But after scrutinizing the club’s finances for several months, UEFA announced last week that the club had failed to convince officials that it is on sound financial footing and referred the case to the adjudicatory chamber of its financial control unit to recommend an appropriate punishment”.

I suppose ‘Dundee Utd pick up young Celtic defender deemed surplus to requirements’ just doesnt sound dramatic enough!

    For what it’s worth-

According to a Sicilian radio station –

Mr Li has told UEFA that he will be giving AC Milan 37.4 million euros ” this weekend ”

According to another Sicilian radio station – Elliot ( a US private equity fund ) has told Mr Li that if he doesn’t then they will cough up the necessary to keep UEFA sweet -but -that done – they will consider that they effectively own AC Milan.

It’s just that many years ago my brother in law told me a different story

    I.e. It was her fault.

But he is of themz persuasion.

They just can’t hide they’re hatred of us or our faith.

    Enjoy !!!.

My limited understanding re AC MILAN is that they are skint , heavily in debt and that Berlusconi was so keen to sell that he failed to do much due diligence re the Chinese chaps.. Many claim that they don’t have the money they claimed to have .

To paraphrase another poster,it’s Friday,it’s five o’clock so it’s bury the bad news time…

  13. Bobby, you’re so obvious. I know why you are on just now. Going for the podium. Aren’t you?

  14. Traynor’s cunning plan is to enlist every known name with connection to either Gerrard or Sevco.

Harry Rednapp – dodgy barrow boy who has more skeletons in his closet than dodgy Dave

Archie Knox – Mr No Personality-but-he-worked-with-Wattie

Dick Advocaat – My team’s would have won loads without EBTS

Frank Lampard – My experience as a football manager speaks for itself

All lined up to hype up a new manager at Sevco on the day when he is supposed to start, but who in fact won’t be “in the hot seat” as he has another 2 weeks of doing…well….anything but his new job.

Smoke & mirrors, spin & fluff.

All designed to cover for the absence of their new man – which, if they were all serious, would be the only genuine way to introduce him to their hordes.

Instead, a write up in their in house rag & some well kent names talking him up.

Can you imagine how their hordes feel? How underwhelemed? How totally let down? How confused?

    They all deserve one another.

  18. So are we sayin’ the boul’ Stevie’s first day is fishally……a damp squid?

  19. I keep reading on the Celtic Sites from different posters that “the game is afoot” and that something bad is happening at Ibrox. This explains Kings statement o’clock.

Does anyone know answers to the following questions

It has been suggested that another administration is on the cards anytime between now and November. Any evidence available?

Why has Gerrard not turned up?

Have Sheriff officers called at Ibrox?

Has the Close Brothers Loan been repaid? Has any Directors had any of their loans retuned?

Have Rangers been granted UEFA license For Next season?

What has happened with the Takeover panel enforcement?

The answers to these questions might explain the mad behaviour
