Change underway at SFA, Irish Voice launch

650

Some of the reaction to Peter Lawwell’s promotion to the top table of the bowling club yesterday was thoroughly entertaining, including some from our own side.  As a rule, I’m happy to germinate nonsense which distracts potential opponents from applying logical analysis to their world, so now THE EVIDENCE is all there!!

The SFA badly need higher calibre board members and, despite some generous assessments (from all sides), Celtic’s influence over the Association has been akin to pushing water up a marble staircase.  The only genuine solutions to Scottish football’s problems will be to the benefit of all clubs, not just the main income generator.  This is the challenge Peter Lawwell should set himself.  By delivering well-funded, competitive football for all, he will best look after the interests of Celtic.  Big changes all round are required.

I was accustomed today by a suggestion that Celtic were about to announce debts of over £30m after investing in some underperforming bonds!  Fortunately the story teller is listening to the wrong people and this is complete fantasy.  At least this nonsense keeps people from reading the accounts and asking by our board blow so much cash on amortisation each year instead of buying players.

Shout out to the newly launched Irish Voice newspaper, issue one of which is now out.  Focussed on “Bringing you all the news from the Irish in Scotland” it’s a really impressive read – and it’s free!  Check it out online here and look out for the paper copy.

  1. Well said Jeanette Findlay. Cunningham showed her true colours with the OBFM legislation, a bill that didn’t get one opposition vote!

  2. Rangers “confirm” peace deal “close” in boardroom.

At primary school we would have been scolded for that.

    It’s either:

Rangers “say” peace deal is “close” in boardroom.

    Or:

Rangers “confirm” peace deal in boardroom.

    And that’s the BBC…

  3. Is that guy Mather with Sevco not the only one among that mob that has put in big bucks, and the rest want him dumped, honestly I just don’t get it with that mob, but I love the confusion, looks like when all the creditors where dumped, the (as them call them) REAL RANGERS MEN want to come on board, back to the future?

You were lucky. We’d have been belted or – worse – hit on the knuckles with a wooden ruler for mentioning Rangers. Mind you, didn’t do me any harm…

  6. Man City have apparently bought a franchise that will allow them to participate in the MLA. Given our supporter base and potential to tap into that market in the USA surely Peter Lawwell should be looking into this. In terms of available franchises for the MLA I think Boston is up for grabs. Thoughts?

Was working in Stockholm a couple of weeks ago but was way in the south of the city and only had one day, the friday stoatin about the centre. It was scorching and they were all on holiday. Toon was heaving, really really nice people but there were not that many bars. Might change at night. Don’t want to sound sexist but the talent………………………….

  13. If your going to Stockholm mind and get into tons of debt… sorry not debt an unused overdraft facility that you will then have to use, unlike the Hoops.

  14. The more huns in the Board Room trough at Poundland the better. The stupid huns can’t see ,all they crave is their money.Challs robbed the share issue and 2 years ST money,so not sure where the Double Deckers & Co are going to ream them, and i’m sure wee Craigy Bhoy is not finished.Bring it on.

  15. I am astonished that John McLelland is allowed anywhere near Ibrox after being in the chairman’s seat whilst the old club racked up tens of millions in losses and plunged headlong into an obviously provocatively dangerous tax strategy.

Is this the best they can do in the hunt for “Rain-jurz” men?

Yeah but they are more concerned about Jim Spence describing John McClelland as chairman of the club that died and drawing up graphs in which totally unconnected events are presented as evidence of some ludicrous conspiracy than anything that might be of real concern to their club in its current incarnation.

  22. Reading back through the posts today, it didn’t take long for the news of Celtic representation at the SFA to turn into an anti-PL and the Board story.

There is just no pleasing some people.

I haven’t been on CQN much over the past week. I was on a high after last weeks win against SK and the CL draw. True fans will know the feeling…..days later you feel a sense of happiness for no apparent reason and then remember it’s because of the 3rd goal (or something else in the match). I went on to CQN on Sunday and that bubble was quickly burst – back to PL, Bored, Sevco etc etc.

This is a great time to be a Celtic supporter. Some people just can’t see that.

I guess I just don’t understand what a blog is about…….but I do know what being a supporter should mean.

    Embdy been to Stockholm?

I was there a few weeks ago over a sunday night. Got to my hotel at 7.30, went out at 8.00 and wanted to eat at 9.00. All the restaurants were closing as it was a Sunday night.

I ended up in the Sports bar at the station and had horrible scampi and a beer for £20. Worst value ever and , even worse, they had pictures all round the wals of sports stars but no Henrik.

  24. Were McClelland and Jabba separated at birth?

Only to be re-united 60 years later in an attempt to breathe life into a frogs spawn that is floating/sinking in a rancid SFA pond.

Hope they don’t forget the net, jar with a lid, and rubber gloves for their first meeting.

  25. Saw this on hunmedia…. They’re not very happy over on the dark side.

Could Rangers take betting company “PaddyPower” to court over their “Ball of Shame” advert? I’d never actually noticed this until it was pointed out, but if you look at the background, that’s clearly Ibrox stadium, and is completely owned by Rangers meaning surely they’d need permission to use it like that?

I doubt Rangers would give permission to feature in a “Ball of Shame” advert, ran by a company called PaddyPower…
