Chaotic life of SPL chief exec

957

The seemingly chaotic life of the Scottish Football League chief executive, David Longmuir, appears more predictable after First Division clubs made their feelings on league reconstruction known. Significant amounts of trickle-down money is available from the SPL to second-tier clubs from next season if they vote to merge the league organisations, which is likely to result in an 18 team bottom league. Longmuir managed to put a spoke in the wheels of a considerable majority in favour of reconstruction but his hopes will be denied.

Three weeks ago we reported speculation that Longmuir aspired to a job at Newco Rangers. Yesterday he responded by saying, “I know there are different expressions of conspiracy going on but I don’t deal in conspiracy, I deal in fact and honesty”. You can bookmark that for future reference.

I predict that the conspiracy will soon merge with fact and honesty – if Newco can still afford to recruit next season.

  1. Unbelievable.

Charles Green admits to the fact that he and his fellow cohort , have lied to Craig Whyte , to hoodwink him.

How can he possibly be trusted by anyone?

What a fool to admit this in a national newspaper , when a legal trial awaits.

    Chuckles stated:

Last night he said: “Whyte is trying to tout that he was behind the whole deal. He says he has tape recordings of Imran and me saying that he is Sevco 5088. Which is all true. We were warned before we ever met him that he would be taping things

Who warned Chuck that CW was taping all his business conversations? Was it his deputy head of media? Was it the oldest young manger? Was it Paul Murray?

Whoever it was, given that, unlike Sandaza, Chuckles knew he was being recorded he would have been incredibly stupid to say something that could potentially implicate him in something dodgy!

The most explosive part of the whole jing-bang isn’t the allegation that Chuck was the front for CW in removing assets from a soon to be liquidated company, or the allegation that investors were misled in that pertinent information was withheld from the market prospectus, or the allegation that Chuck told porkies in order to acquire an asset, no, the most shocking, baffling, stunning, mind-blowing and earth shattering thing is that….BOMBER WAS RIGHT!!!!!!

  19. The Battered Bunnet on

The piece Celtic_First has pasted above is essentially the rebuttal piece by Green to the main story, pasted below. There are a couple of interesting aspects to it.

Firstly, from a reporting perspective, the rebuttal has been given the same prominence than the main story, which itself rather glosses over what looks to be fairly explosive material – that Green was Whyte’s puppet who reneged.

Secondly, if Whyte’s story is true – that Sevco 5088 was his vehicle and that Green unlawfully transfered the assets of 5088 to Sevco Scotland following the acquisition, why has he waited until months after the floatation to attempt a remedy?

Surely it would have been much more straightforward to obtain an injunction to the float, and get the matter settled at that point?

Or is it simply that Sevco in whatever form needed the share issue to keep trading, and a challenge at that point would have sunk the whole project?

You got to hand it to Whyte though. The man simply adores disaster. It follows where ever he goes. We should rename him. How about Whirlwind Whyte?

DEFIANT Craig Whyte claims he STILL owns Rangers — and chief executive Charles Green was a frontman for HIM.

Disgraced Whyte insists he has a dossier of evidence which proves his case.

And he claims he has proof to back up his allegation that he was conned.

The Scottish Sun has seen a bombshell warning letter Whyte sent to Green and former Rangers director Imran Ahmad days before the recent £22million flotation deal.

We have also obtained secret recordings Whyte made in meetings with Green, Ahmad and Ibrox finance director Brian Stockbridge apparently discussing the takeover of Rangers.

Whyte — who plans a £50million court case — says the evidence proves he and partner Aidan Earley were conned in that deal and the subsequent flotation in December was ILLEGAL.

And he says he also has evidence his involvement in the takeover was kept secret from the SPL and SFL. Last night a source said: “These are dynamite claims and it will be interesting if this does end up in the courts. Conspiracy theorists will be having a field day.”

Sevco 5088 Ltd and Green bought Rangers for £5.5million in June, 2012.

Green transferred the assets — including Murray Park and Ibrox — to a new company called Sevco Scotland days later. Whyte claims the £50million assets were transferred illegally because Green didn’t have his or Earley’s permission. His warning letter — prepared by a London QC — says Whyte and Earley intend to sue Green and Ahmad for deception and breach of contract.

It says Earley approached Ahmad at finance firm Zeus Capital to participate in the takeover, as Whyte wanted a frontman. He believed his negative publicity would “hinder any deal”.

The letter says Ahmad then told Earley he had ‘just the right guys’ — referring to businessman Rafat Rizvi and Green. Whyte claims Ahmad introduced Green and Rizvi to him at a London hotel on May 1 last year. It’s alleged Rizvi and Ahmad agreed to raise funds for the deal while Green would front it. The letter also says that all parties agreed Earley and Whyte would have a majority shareholding in Sevco 5088.

And it alleges that Ahmad, Rizvi, Green and Earley would share a £250,000 fee and ten per cent of share capital raised.

In one of Whyte’s recordings of their meetings, Green says: “You are Sevco, that’s what we are saying.” In a second tape Ahmad discusses Rizvi and how he will represent him on the board. He says: “Charles can’t do anything… you should regard us as your reps (inaudible) no loyalties to Charles, to Rafat (inaudible) as well.” And in the third Ahmad says he could only be the chief executive officer of Rangers if he got the go-ahead from Whyte, and that Green was terrified of the job.

Ahmad says: “I could do that but that can only be at your insistence, only with your majority stake. He’s terrified of the job, it’s a high pressure job.”

Green, 59, has always denied that venture capitalist Whyte was part of his consortium but has admitted meeting him in London.

Last night he said: “Whyte is trying to tout that he was behind the whole deal. He says he has tape recordings of Imran and me saying that he is Sevco 5088. Which is all true. We were warned before we ever met him that he would be taping things.

“What we had to do at the start was get the confidence of this guy for him to give us the shares, to give us the debentures, to do a whole raft of things. I’m not worried about what I’ve said on tape.”

Whyte’s warning letter says December’s flotation on the AIM Stock would “perpetrate a fraud” on himself and potential investors as the assets were still owned by him through Sevco 5088.

But Green hit back: “The only agreements that I entered into with Craig Whyte were that he would hand the shares over and the indemnity to enable the CVA to go ahead and in the event that it didn’t go ahead then those shares and that company would go back to Whyte.

“It would be no good to me anyway because we were now going down the Newco route and that’s why we had this Sevco 5088 and Sevco Scotland.

“The agreements between Craig Whyte and Sevco were that that was conditional on the CVA.”

Great reading this morning…..and our Board knew this would happen …….

  27. Battered Bunnet – so whyte held off til chuck got the money or maybe whyte thought chuck had no chance on raising the money – like of all of us ( in fact many of us believe part of the reason for the cash-flow issues is that all the share money never turned up ).

So if whyte sees green has he money he is interested again – big time. He also knows it’s time for the gullible to stump up season ticket money. He couldnt have picked a more strategic time to go after Green and his Sevco assists – cash-flow issues / season ticket golden goose. Chucks ruthless cull of sandaza , pip, Murray and stadium manager shows whyte that he will need to play hardball to win. Hence the sun, court case etc. Seat belts on for the sequel and it could be better than original. Whatever happens the only losers are the club from ibrox.

From today’s DR (save them the hit!)

RANGERS are about to be hit with yet another bill after a panel ruled they are liable for the legal expenses of five former players they were in contract disputes with.

Sone Aluko, Kyle Lafferty, Steven Naismith, Jamie Ness and Allan McGregor all quit the club when it was placed in liquidation last year.

The players refused to transfer their contracts from the old company to the new one, which the club challenged.

Now the panel has ruled that Rangers should pay all legal bills relating to the dispute.

The panel was established and facilitated under the SFA’s articles of association after agreement was reached by the club and players over who should represent each side of the dispute, with a chair appointed to review both parties’ claims.

However, the SFA is not directly involved in the arbitration process and has no influence over any decisions taken by the panel.
