Christie reward, don’t make eye contact

467

Brendan Rodgers would be happy to have given pretty much his entire first team squad a run-out yesterday. I’d expect a similar usage of the squad in Ljubljana on Wednesday but Saturday’s game against Maribor.

There’s seldom anything more than fitness to take from these games but when a young player scored what proves to be a winner, it’s likely to matter more. Ryan Christie looked stressed at the end of last season when five Celtic players scored before he – when playing as striker – got on the scoresheet. Yesterday’s win against Sturm Graz will count for Ryan.

So Bayer Leverkusen are after Efe Ambrose. Not surprised at that one. Surprise isn’t an appropriate word, not at all. Everyone just look at your shoes, don’t make eye contact, poker faces, please.

I thought, Jobo being in Spain, you were doing a little Spanish pronunciation with `Hobo`. Especially coming after your `rock and roll`. If I liked puns, I would have liked that one .

“…imo there is probably something in our collective make-up that gives us this disposition – mibbes because we’ve always known the game in scoddland was bent…”

Agreed and, for many Tims, not just the game that was/is bent in Scotland.

I was up the Hills yesterday and was , once again, struck by the contrast between the wondrous splendour of Scotland physically and the social structure. permeated as it is by the sickening undercurrent of Protestant superiority .

Generally speakin’ the huns are humped in most ither ares f scoddish society……..

We’ve educated ourselves and got on better than them…generally.

Proddy superiority as evidenced in the hun support is as potent as an oranj ordure march……. a thing of the past, not the future (imo)

The fitba’ is their last remaining stronghold of sleekit, masonic chicanery and it won’t hold on for much longer. We know it…..they know it.

The blatant nature , in most areas, is a thing of the past but I believe an insidious current still worms its way through Scottish Society. It is a factor which can make Celtic Park such a passionate place at times so I don`t have nightmares over it!

    JJ

  5. For the sake of clarity, my final sentence could have made it more clear that I meant our response to the `worm` engenders the atmosphere at Celtic Park !

Philbhoy and BMCW…my post yesterday was never a criticism of CQNers. It was about my ‘millions’ of ‘friends’ on Facebook who were looking at their shoes whilst remaining poker-faced…not a peep from any of them.

Hope EK’s weatherman had a good birthday…very mild in the foothills this morning…

  7. Probably should not be asking this on here but has Sevco Assault played Charleston Battery yet?

Can anyone tell me the difference between Celtic TV’s Online Subscription at £40 per annum and the Premium Subscription at £80 per annum? Can either be viewed on a TV? Can Celtic TV be viewed on an iPad?

  9. Hot Smoked –

I prefer to believe that the passion generated at Celtic Park is predicated on our love for our club and our culture, rather than as a reaction to our enemies.

  10. TOSB –

The higher price is for HD quality.

You can show anything from a laptop on a TV if you have an HDMI cable.

CelticTV cannot be viewed on an iPad or other Tablet.

  11. Sorry, don’t like the away top.

What’s wrong with an all green one?

    Too radical?!

    HH!!

  12. Auld Tam

That is almost certainly the main part but other clubs` supporters could argue that they feel the same. I think the way we were (are?) treated in Scottish society is an important extra and differentiating difference . Awareness may be subliminal but I feel it is there nevertheless.

Anyway, must dash. I have a golf match at Strathmore.

    Cheerio for now,

  13. i had the premium Celtic TV but I could never get the HD stream to work so just went back to normal, I have BT Broadband so it was not an issue at my side.

Hi mate,, was interested in the chat you were having re origin of the term hun

Hun was a slur mostly used by the irish population against those who ‘tuped’ their loyalty from the saxe coburg house(now in germany) to the English sounding, house of Windsor in the 19th century britain.

A wee reminder to the outsiders that they in turn are led by outsiders.in an irish context.:-)…….come tae hink thats as true today.they just need to be led haha not b4 the lying king harvests their giros :-)

  16. I watched the match yesterday on my phone.

Players looked tiny and the ball was the size of a pinhead!

When I re-read my post, I thought some wag is going to say ‘£40’. Then, right on cue, your comment appeared.

    I asked for it :-))

We’re a wee bit harsh on Efe in my opinion. I watched Efe in the WC finals two years ago, v Argentina, the best players on the planet. Up or down, defence attack, winning ball, passes, shots, crosses, change of pace into space with or looking for ball, he was immense. Not great in the air for a big lad, but that’s fixable.

Then you see him for us for the last seasons. We have spectators on the park. Now and again (with us it’s often) the guy on the ball has no decent options because everybody is static. Then he has to knock it in behind the opposition full back. You might get a throw, even a corner. But Efe can’t bring himself to do that. He dithers and dallies, blunders, and oh dear Lord! Trouble.

Then there’s defending set pieces. Aerial judgement poor. John Kennedy’s was immense. Why no passing on of know-how? Just to show that there is a bit of rocket science in it, you jump a split second earlier than you think you should. When your upward momentum = force of gravity, you are suspended for a split second at the apex. That’s when you head the ball. The Griff does it instinctively.

Handling Efe correctly could give us a new highly successful badly needed defender, most likely right back, but if he improves aerial judgement and heading ability, centre back also. Only my opinion!

    theoriginalsadiesbhoy,

I’ve had the premium service here in Oz for the past few years, to be honest it is not much different from the normal service but the stream has been improving, I think it depends on your broadband download speed. The new beta service might make a difference as well. I watch most games on my iPad, no problems with that over here.

Hope that helps, from your big Hun mate :-)

Thank you both for your quick helpful response regarding the price deferential in the Celtic TV package. However, you have both given contradictory answers on the iPad compatibility of CTV.

Can anyone help with a definitive answer on this?

    Thanks for the information.

I’m still embarrassed about that very big mistake. To be honest I don’t know how I ever got the idea into my head that you were a sticky. I must have confused your monicker with someone else.
