Christie reward, don’t make eye contact

467

Brendan Rodgers would be happy to have given pretty much his entire first team squad a run-out yesterday. I’d expect a similar usage of the squad in Ljubljana on Wednesday but Saturday’s game against Maribor.

There’s seldom anything more than fitness to take from these games but when a young player scored what proves to be a winner, it’s likely to matter more. Ryan Christie looked stressed at the end of last season when five Celtic players scored before he – when playing as striker – got on the scoresheet. Yesterday’s win against Sturm Graz will count for Ryan.

So Bayer Leverkusen are after Efe Ambrose. Not surprised at that one. Surprise isn’t an appropriate word, not at all. Everyone just look at your shoes, don’t make eye contact, poker faces, please.

    ‘nonsensical scaremongering.’

    ###

    The GERS figures.

£15bn deficit, with worse to come next year, and still the nats chunter on about scaremongering.

  2. O.G.RAFFERTY @ 8:34 PM,

Interesting, what happened to the William Stevenson character that was arrested as “Charlotte Fakes”?

That seemed to go very quiet.

    Hail Hail

  3. MATS NILLOC…

Think you will find Phil was writing about the state of ipox a long time before JJ started blogging about it.

  4. CHAIRBHOY@8:27

If you explain which of my remarks are not based on fact and are “scaremongering”, I will be delighted to respond.

  5. I keep reading about the nats projections that oil would be $110 a barrel and that scotland would be fecked had they got their indy.

It’s all relative I suppose, but at the same time as the nats were predicting $110 a barrel, the UK treasury were predicting $113 and OPEC were predicting $120.

Amazing that the UK is the fifth largest economy on the planet with predictions like that.

  6. I once met our old foe Dr (!) Paisley in an airport lounge. We discussed the lost art of political oratory. At the time he was the Father of the House, the longest serving MP. I asked him who was the most inspiring orator in his long stint in Parliament. Michael Foot.

The rest of the chat was also illuminating only spoiled by his Son staring at me with undisguised hatred as I had called Derry, Derry!

  7. RUBICON on 4TH JULY 2016 8:43 PM

Michael Foot’s distinctive oratorical style was necessitated by the breathing difficulties he suffered as a result of asthma.

He’s not being charged – isn’t he going to be a witness at some point in one of their many court cases?

  9. Hebcelt,

This blog has always covered many topics outside football. Politics and football are intertwined. Political decisions affect football and those who watch football.

Many of your posts are about travel and eating out. Not a problem and absolutely no criticism but not exactly football related.

    Hail, Hail.

The nats’ economic case for independence depended on the price of oil and the tax revenue it would generate.

The case (such as it was) collapsed with the price of oil.

An independent Scotland would have to meet certain fiscal conditions before joining the EU. To meet those conditions public spending would have to be slashed. That’s the reality.

I’ve even seen people discussing black pudding.

    No. Seriously. Black pudding.

  13. ERNIE LYNCH @ 8:41 PM,

As a political animal, I know your always going to fight your corner and present “the agenda”.

    Fair do’s….

The reason I didn’t vote in the EU Referendum was that both sides run a negative campaign and both sides were lying.

The UK is in turmoil because of the failings of the Political Class.

The BBC have an agenda, they had in the Scottish campaign, they did in the EU Campaign.

So ask yourself, why are the having this irrelevant debate at this time?

What is their point, how does it suit their agenda. And why are they wasting Licence payers money on this, when it is obvious that the Country as a whole needs some well informed charity, regarding the clear and present danger the Country has been “lead” into.

    Hail Hail

    Hello everyone

I said at the start of the year that I was going to put some money on Raonic winning wimbledon this year … of course, I”m not really a betting man (except CQN Predictor), so I never bothered … wish I had now.

I hate to go against Federer (along with Laver, the greatest player I have ever seen, and probably the classiest ), but I think Raonic may take him this year.

If Efe goes, I hope he does well whereever he ends up. He scared me sometimes, but there was always something likeable about him.

  15. Greenpinta my point was the sheer volume of political posts, my odd travel or eating questions cannot possibly be compared to them, neither do they have the nastiness and bitterness of a lot of the political posts. If they don’t bother you – fine. H H Hebcelt

I take your word for that, however in all Phil writes now he is at least a day behind JOHNJAMES – that is not to undervalue the part that he played along with Paul McConville and Rangers Tax Case in the exposition of the dirty deeds in Govania.

  17. O.G.RAFFERTY @ 8:49 PM,

Thanks for that, that was my understanding, if it’s still the case then despite the collapse of several of the cases I guess it’s still sub-judice.

Pretty convenient for some I’d have thought.

    Hail Hail

  18. Most of what Phil posts now is just utter scaremongering.

He has got very little right since his initial assertion that they would be liquidated.

In recent times he led us to believe they would lose the initial big tax case,( they still might)

Then there was months of alluding that the Newco would go under.

Then there was the alluding that Ashley would do King in court.

Recently we were led to believe Warburton may have walked out.

Now he and his hangers on are intimating that Ayebrokes will not get a H& S certificate , and that there is no money to repair the stadium .

Take it from me , none of the so called stadium issues will affect materially the progress that the Newco are making .

‘why are the having this irrelevant debate at this time’

    ###

Because the nats have put it on the agenda.

Now, anyone with half a brain knows the SNP leadership don’t want a referendum, but they’ve got to keep their supporters fired up, otherwise they might find something else to do with their time.

  20. I should add that thankfully our board appear to not be fooled into thinking that the Newco will mount a serious challenge .

I wish I knew where they were getting funded from, it has to dry up at some point.

People with money tend not to throw it away, a million a month is a fair whack to pour down the drain.

  22. TINYTIM on 4TH JULY 2016 9:02 PM

At one time it suited someone’s purpose to feed him information, and that gave him an edge.

That no longer seems to be the case.

  23. MATTS NILLOC…

No need to take my word for it, from one of his blogs on 2014….

Sources close to action tell me that Mr Ashley’s men were shocked at the repair and refurbishment bill for Ibrox and, to a lesser extent, Murray Park.

  24. MATS NILLOC @ 8:43 PM,

The scaremongering is not to do with FACTS perse, though Scotland’s share of the FACT that we send £350 million a day to the EU might tide us over:)

It’s to do with an agenda, Scotland are NOT going to be Independent in the foreseeable future…

So why have this irrelevant debate NOW.

There is far more pressing issues that need to be clarified. Real current issues.

    Hail Hail

  25. TINYTIM…

To be fair, Phil didn’t realise how corrupt the sfa and some people making decisions when it came to oldco could be, I don’t reckon most of us could :((

  26. My reading of JJ was that Stevenson was doing Charlotte until ‘caught’ then sold his material to King via Bouffant and re-opened as Charlotte Fakeovers… turned Queen’s (haha) evidence did Stevenson… allegedly.

So far JJ has got as much wrong as Phil in prediction terms.

    £6m for Bitton… biting I hope.

  27. Ernie,

with regards to what is discussed on the blog,

i am sure you once made a post about Celtic ;-))

  28. ERNIE LYNCH @ 9:04 PM,

Or it could be that the BBC want to scare the Scottish voters with the Big Economic Bogey Man.

Didn’t work too well on the Brexit voters.

The short and middle term state of the Economy is dependent on how the UK negotiate their way out of the EU.

That is 1000 times more important than the specious scenario where Scotland currently get independence.

    “Fiddling” while Rome burns eh!

Maybe I can apply for the Diner Tec job. Lol

  31. Seems it’s impossible to run an economy in the UK unless in it’s current format. Every other option induces complete Armageddon and melt down…

On the other hand Iceland with real volcanoes and a burst treasury seem to have found some alternatives that haven’t involved sinking into the North Atlantic.

    Funny that…

  32. CHAIRBHOY@9:10

I agree that actual independence is a no no at the moment – however it is again being used opportunistically by a economically and politically bankrupt SNP to bolster their followers.

They have still never put forward ONE policy and/or proposal that is specific to the poorer in our society – Education – Transport – Social Services – Police – Local Council Finance – NHS – held in a vice-like grip by incompetents in Edinburgh, whilst reducing revenue by introducing cheap tricks like cutting airline tax.

  33. CHAIRBHOY on 4TH JULY 2016 9:22 PM

I haven’t seen it, but I think this was a Scottish made programme, for a Scottish audience and shown in Scotland.

Presumably because it’s the sort of thing the audience might be interested in.

Not least because the SNP have, for their own reasons, put the issue on the agenda.

I’ve no doubt the issues you mention have been and will continue to be dealt with by the BBC and other media outlets.
