CONFIRMED: £3.75m MISFIT’S 8-MONTH DEAL

CELTIC’S £3.75m misfit Alexandro Bernabei has completed his loan deal to Brazilian top-flight side SC Internacional.

The Argentinian left-back made just 28 appearances in 18 months for the champions after his big-money switch from Lanus in the summer of 2022 and has been offloaded by Brendan Rodgers, as CQN forecast earlier in the week.

Bernabei has failed to dislodge Scotland international Greg Taylor from the No.3 position and hasn’t impressed the Irishman in his nine outings.

The 23-year-old defender, who was brought to Parkhead by ex-boss Ange Postecoglou, has sealed his eight-month temporary transfer in time for the kick-off to the Brasileiro Série A league season on April 14 through to December 8.

NOW YOU SEE ME…Alexandro Bernabei in one of his nine appearances for Brendan Rodgers.

Bernabei, who is under contract at the Hoops until June 2027, is due back in Glasgow at the end of the year. The deal with SC Internacional contains an option to buy.

It is certain Celtic will be forced to take a huge loss on their original financial outlay for what has turned out to be one of the most bizarre transfers in recent times.

Rodgers is now light on cover for Taylor who missed four games through injury recently.

Liam Scales can fill in on the left-hand side of the back-four in an emergency, but it is obvious a new full-back recruit will be a priority for the Hoops gaffer in the summer.
