Confusion as SFA appears lax on terms

1036

Is it really possible that Charles Green made a genuine oversight and believed that monies due to Rangers FC (IA) could be paid by a debtor to selective creditors in order to let his Newco gain access to the Scottish Football League?

Back in May, while Rangers FC (IA) were adamant they would continue in business, the SPL agreed to pay money due to the club directly to creditors.  The club subsequently failed to pay, or agree terms with, creditors and a creditor has asked BDO to liquidate them.  The lawyers have earned enough from this saga in recent months, they would be scrambling for Gratuitous Alienation cast studies if the SPL was to selectively pay football clubs.

It looks like Mr Green is tying himself in knots over the Newco/Oldco routine.  His attention to detail has the potential to become legendary, however, he is entitled to wonder why the SFA have allowed his Newco membership despite apparently not meeting agreed terms. I am sure the SFA president will be all over this issue like a rash, demanding clear and proper process is followed.

Or is the SFA president still the only man at Hampden who cannot participate in any of the important issues concerning Scottish football?

Well some on CQN feel that the Celtic board lack ambition and the lack of new signings before the Champions league qualifiers is proof.Well what does that say about Helsingbourg selling there striker and top scorer virtualy on the eve of the Champions league qualifier either they badly need cash or they dont see anything to fear in Celtic whicever it is the sale cannot have strengthened them.H.H.

How on earth do you think we are capable of deciding on the best team for the game against Ross County?

  6. Celtic manager Neil Lennon admits he will take the Champions League qualifier against Helsingborg into account when he selects his team to face Ross County on Saturday.

But he knows he cannot afford to field a weakened team against a side who have not lost in the league for a year.

Derek Adams’ side extended their unbeaten run to 36 games at Pittodrie last weekend and have shown how difficult opponents they will be in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League by holding both Motherwell and Aberdeen to goalless draws.

Celtic avenged their 2010 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat by County with a 2-0 Scottish Communities League Cup win at Dingwall last September but they experienced the tight pitch and organised system of County and will know they are in for a tough encounter.

“We played them in the cup last year and coped quite well,” Lennon told Celtic TV.

“But they are unbeaten in 36 games and that speaks volumes.

“The thing is, with going there so recently we know the environment.

“I think they have improved their squad and Derek has done a fantastic job.

“But we have got our own agenda and have to win the game and go into the Helsingborg game in good spirit.

“I’ve been delighted with the players’ attitude and football they have played over the past few weeks but this will be a different game and we will have to change our mindset a bit.

“They are a proud club, as most of the Highland clubs that have come up are.

“They want to create their own identity and will see us as a big scalp. If they take that they will know they have arrived in the SPL.”

Lennon has a number of injury doubts and lost a number of players to international duty during the week.

“I’ll have half a mind with the Helsingborg game on the Tuesday as well but I’m not going to radically change the team that much,” he said.

“I’ll put out a really strong team to win the game.”

Striker Daryl Murphy has been ruled out for up to four weeks with a hamstring injury while Dylan Mcgeouch has had a plate inserted in his jaw following a sickening collision in last weekend’s defeat by Real Madrid.

Lennon also had injury concerns over Scott Brown (hip), James Forrest (groin), Anthony Stokes (ankle), Gary Hooper (hamstring) and Paddy McCourt (groin) but they could all be available for the Dingwall clash.

  10. I will never play politics with a story of striking miners being shot by state forces anywhere in the world. I condemn it unreservedly.

This story is just breaking and will result in much condemnation, if Western governments can spare a second from their planning to transfer the next war from Syria to Iran.

Cannot escape the thought that some using the “baiting” approach here, that’s you TSD, are showing more hatred towards the colour of the perpetrators of state violence ( you do know these ones aren’t Islamic, don’t you?) rather than concern for the colour of the victims.

Go on, condemn the evils of apartheid!

Condemn the influence of colonial oppression without promoting the fantasy that the trains ran on time and the “country” was profitable!

And finally, let’s hear your views on whether Mandela was a terrorist or not?

No more side steps, now. Time for some straight talking.

    An interesting post

Assuming the SPL don’t pay the oldco cash in satifaction of footballing debts …given that the payment of same was a condition of Sevco’s league entry ….how long will they be given pay

It was also interesting that Green comment on the payment of sums owing made no mention of the debt to non Scottish clubs …how long will he be given to clear these

  12. Its quite sad that people on here are saying we should keep players for CL game its quite sad that people on here are saying it doesnt matter if we dont win tomorrow

Listen if our club had a structure or a plan we would be able to go to Dingwall and leave 3/4 important players out and still win up there

For us to be going into last 2 weeks of August having shipped 10/11 players off wage bill having not strengthened our squad is nothing short of disgraceful

I said in june that we should stop looking at them and concentrate on what our board are not doing And for those who say we cant buy before we sell Rubbish!!

I want my club to show some level of ambition but i dont see it Mr Stein used to say he couldnt care less about what was going on over in south of Glasgow

Seems to me our policy is now dictated by what happens over other side of town Sad really

When Dan Penn and Chips Moman paused during a poker session to write The Dark End Of The Street, in a Nashville hotel room in 1966, they created probably the most beautifully proportioned and viscerally affecting of all soul ballads. The song was to enter the repertoire of many great singers and musicians, from Aretha Franklin to Ry Cooder. But in James Carr, who has died aged 58, the composers were fortunate to find its first and finest interpreter.

There are plenty of eminent observers – Peter Gural- nick, Charlie Gillett, Barney Hoskyns, Andy Kershaw, and the Memphis music historian Robert Gordon among them – who consider Carr to have been among the most remarkable singers of his type.

  20. Its going to be an interesting team selection tomorrow. I’m of the opinion that we should pick the strongest team available, but anyone who is injured or struggling to be 100% fit then they shouldn’t be risked. With McGeouch & Murphy definitely out, and Brown & Forrest also more than likely to be out, we still shouldn’t take any chances with Hooper, Stokes or Paddy if they are doubtful. We are still strong enough in midfield (Ki returning, Kayal needing game time to add to Vic & Joe), and at full strength in defence (though we are threadbare in numbers in central defence). Looks like up front is going to be Sammi + 1, hopefull Tony Watt.

Commons will be key man, especially if given the roving role just behind the strikers.

    =============================

Shimmies33, with you there. Someone said on here a couple of days ago that they didn’t care if we didn’t win a league game for the entire month of August if we got into the CL and that by beating Aberdeen we were already 2 points better off than he would have hoped!

To me it stands to reason that if we didn’t win a single SPL(yes, its the SPL remember, folks) game for the entire month I wouldn’t want us to get into the Champions League for fear of what might happen to us- it would be immaterial anyway because if we can’t beat anyone for a month in the SPL we wouldn’t have a hope against Helsingborgs.

The counter argument is that we’d be resting big players for the Helsingborgs game- I thought professional clubs were over this nonsense of resting players for so called bigger matches, it guarantees nothing and only increases your chances of dropping league points. We have a big support getting up at 6am tomorrow to travel north and they don’t deserve to see half a team play, or settle, for a point.

Play our strongest available team in every game.

That was a thoroughly nasty post….

I have only paid cursory attention to this news story….I have only read the news reports…not watched the video or the TV news.

I presumed that the victims amongst the miners are most likely black..

I have no clue as to the racial identity of the police…has it become an issue??

As to the religious affiliations of those involved….I’d be guessing……Evangelical Christians..? Surely not Buddhists…?

You certainly have a problem in a country, when the president sings a Hate Anthem…with the line “Kill the Boer”..especially in view of the fact another prominent leader of the ANC was dismissed from his post and tried for a hate crime for singing the very same song…

So are you suggesting that President Zuma’s behaviour was totally acceptable.

Can only certain races be guilty of racism….because that would seem to be your attitude,as far as I can discern..

I don’t even know why anyone bothered to post this news on here…but since they did, some context of the underlying situation in the country helps to throw some light on the incident…

You must learn to avoid being so controlling…

    You’re Welcome…

They will be hard to beat/break down.

They will be right up for it.

That said i wouldn’t be risking our game changers, who at the moment are Sammi and Chris imo.

I would settle for a draw and a good result on Tues…it’s paramount we get through to CL…we will make ground up in league if we drop points just now..

If you are using the browser that came with the blackberry then you will want to change to opera mini, its far superior in functionality and ease of use. An added bonus is it cuts down data usage when browsing and is faster too.
