Confusion as SFA appears lax on terms

1036

Is it really possible that Charles Green made a genuine oversight and believed that monies due to Rangers FC (IA) could be paid by a debtor to selective creditors in order to let his Newco gain access to the Scottish Football League?

Back in May, while Rangers FC (IA) were adamant they would continue in business, the SPL agreed to pay money due to the club directly to creditors.  The club subsequently failed to pay, or agree terms with, creditors and a creditor has asked BDO to liquidate them.  The lawyers have earned enough from this saga in recent months, they would be scrambling for Gratuitous Alienation cast studies if the SPL was to selectively pay football clubs.

It looks like Mr Green is tying himself in knots over the Newco/Oldco routine.  His attention to detail has the potential to become legendary, however, he is entitled to wonder why the SFA have allowed his Newco membership despite apparently not meeting agreed terms. I am sure the SFA president will be all over this issue like a rash, demanding clear and proper process is followed.

Or is the SFA president still the only man at Hampden who cannot participate in any of the important issues concerning Scottish football?

I think you are correct in saying that our young guns could beat Ross County….only if they had 5 or 6 games playing together!

Trying too many changes for one off games disnae work!

    Are you still about?

Yesterday we talked about the Jews and Holocaust.

I would like to post the link to the interview with Jan Karski. Karski was the courier who passed the news to the Western countries about what was happening in the ghetto. United Kingdom and USA are as well guilty of the tragedy that happened in Warsaw. Roosvelt and Churchill were men who got first hand news from Karski. Interview is better than some books about Holocaust. Genuine lesson for all of us. Are you still about?

The Celtic players booing was worst in the 80’s I suspect when Rangers were rubbish and their fans were attneding the Scotland matches in large numbers. I told my dad to stop taking me after Aitken, McStay and other Celtic players were booed for 90 mins meanwhile Swally who was on the bench was applauded for warming up. End of the road attending Scotland matches for me.

I did go back to a few matches when Smith & McLeish were managing and was bore dof the whole tartan army garbage. Elitist crowd of idiots strutting about in kilts and glengarry’s with a feather and a host of badges of places they have visited with Scotland. Normal fans are not welcome. The tartan army are like a club that you have to earn your spurs. Not for me!

The worst booing in recent times for a Scotland player was for Gary McAllister. His crime? Having a penalty saved by David Seaman.

Still support Scotland but from the comfort of my armchair.

  4. ‘during the half time break on the fly’ I assume there are witness’s or is this their version of ‘Dougie Dougie’.

Macedonian forward Adis Jahović has been given a 10-match ban by the Swiss Football League after telling a referee “if I see you after, I will kill you”.

The FC Wil player made the threat just before half time, after being sent off, against FC Biel in the Swiss second division.

He was given a red card after kicking an opponent, and although the incident took place almost two weeks ago, the Swiss league yesterday announced the punishment for “threatening and unsporting conduct”.

The league said in a statement: “The player had threatened him [the referee] during the half time break on the fly with the following words: ‘If I see you after I kill you.’

“In the event of multiple offences, the penalty is calculated according to the most serious offence – in this case the threats made to the referee – in accordance with due increase in the specific circumstances of each case.”

Jahović has already served one match of the suspension, the Swiss league ruled, and the player has five days to appeal the decision.

  11. Celtic FC visit the birthplace of one of their favourite past players, Henrik Larsson, when they take on Helsingborgs IF, with UEFA Champions League football the prize.

Two clubs with a common hero will compete for a place in the UEFA Champions League when Helsingborgs IF host Celtic FC in the first leg of their play-off.

    • Henrik Larsson remains an icon to both Helsingborg and Celtic supporters and his sea-front statue in the town, his birthplace, will doubtless be a must-see for the travelling Scottish fans.

    • Helsingborg have got this far thanks to victories over The New Saints FC (3-0 agg) and WKS Śląsk Wrocław (6-1 agg) while Celtic beat HJK Helsinki 4-1 in their third qualifying round tie.

    Match background

    • Helsingborg are hoping to roll back the years to the turn of the millennium and their only previous qualification for the group stage, achieved following a shock victory over FC Internazionale Milano.

    • Helsingborg claimed Inter’s scalp in the 2000/01 third qualifying round after Michael Hansson’s solitary goal in the first leg in Sweden settled the tie. Today’s Helsingborg squad includes three players who featured against Inter – Christoffer Andersson and Erik Wahlstedt, who started both matches, and Mattias Lindström, a late substitute at San Siro.

    • Helsingborg have had less luck in qualifiers recently, missing out on the UEFA Europa League group stage in 2009/10 and 2011/12. Their last run in Europe of note was to the last 32 of the UEFA Cup in 2007/08.

    • Celtic are looking to return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2008/09 season, since when they have lost to Arsenal FC in the 2009/10 play-offs and SC Braga in the 2010/11 third qualifying round.

    • European Cup winners in 1967, Celtic have contested six campaigns in the modern UEFA Champions League but they have never faced Swedish opposition before.

    • This will be Helsingborg’s first competitive meeting with Scottish opponents.

    Team ties

    • Henrik Larsson hit 242 goals in 315 competitive appearances for Celtic between 1997 and 2004 during a career which featured two spells with Helsingborg – first from 1992-93 and then from 2006-09. When Larsson hung up his boots, Helsingborg retired his No17 shirt.

    • As Norway coach, Helsingborg boss Åge Hareide oversaw a 0-0 draw in Scotland in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying, in which Celtic’s Scott Brown featured for the home side.

    • Celtic’s Mikael Lustig was in Sweden’s UEFA EURO 2012 squad with Helsingborg’s Pär Hansson and is a former Under-21 colleague of Walid Atta. Atta, meanwhile, was briefly a team-mate of Celtic’s Mohamed Bangura at AIK Solna in 2010.

    • Helsingborg’s Erik Edman played for Sweden alongside Celtic’s assistant coach Johan Mjällby – both were in their country’s UEFA EURO 2004 squad.

    • Celtic’s Giorgos Samaras was in the Greece side beaten 2-0 by Sweden at UEFA EURO 2008.

    • Helsingborg reserve goalkeeper Daniel Andersson played in Scotland for Hibernian FC from 2003-04. He appeared in five matches against Celtic, losing four of them – including a 6-0 drubbing at Celtic Park.

    • Helsingborg’s new recruit Alejandro Bedoya spent last season with Celtic’s rivals Rangers FC.

The reason that tool McAllister was booed by the Tartan army was not the Seaman penalty.

He was booed (at Celtic Park in fact) against the Czech Republic because his self – important “I take all the corners and free kicks and I don’t pass to anyone” act annoyed the crowd and he was IMO booed for this.

He had scored another penalty against Belarus in the 1998 World cup qualification campaign so it was nothing to do with that miss at Wembley.

McAllister was bummed up beyond belief by the media North and South of the border and he was rank rotten as was Colin Hendry for that matter. Paul mcStay was 10 times the player McAllister was but never got the credit because he was a Celtic player and it suited Craig Brown to make McAllister or Hendry his Captain – it gave the illusion of neutrality – a non Glasgow team captain.

Not having a go pal but that’s just how I remember it.

  16. I am very okay with my lot in life, but I do wish sometimes, that at the drop of a hat I could do things like jump on the plane to Helsingborgs.

Seems like it would be a great experience. If we get into the CL itself I’ll be makin’ plans to get to at least one of the matches abroad. Never done that….time that I did.

It must’ve been awesome to make it in ’67…. to actually be there,to actually get there.

A while ago on the blog there were some brilliant first and second hand accounts of that time.

It was incredible reading all that.

You would never find that voice of truth so well encapsulated anywhere else.

McStay was the best Scottish midfielder player since the mid 60s and McAllister was lucky to be be on the same pitch.

Also rememeber the 98WC? Who to pick as the Scotland Catain, Tom Boyd (former Motherwell Cup winning captain and the current Celtic captain who had just won the League n LC double) or Colin Hendry (who had never been a Captain at senior level in his puff). Obviously they gave it to anybody but the Tim!

    Thanks again for your consideration.

My family used to speak about the horror of Katyn.

My comments yesterday were simply in response to your opinion of Australia,it`s past and current day attitudes.

Believe me,my fellow Tim,this country,Australia, strives very hard to care for it`s citizens.

Irrespective of their colour or ethnicity.

The past is immutable, and Australia unquestionably, has it`s skeletons, but be certain, every effort is made ,at the highest levels to ensure a ” fair go .”
