CQN 11 Knocking it out the park

1030

Where to start on last night’s CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner?  We knocked it out the park.  Hundreds came, thousands of pounds were raised, enough to help Mary’s Meals build a kitchen for a thousand more school kids in Malawi, and a £5,000 donation to Lisa Hague’s 30k Challenge for Marie Curie Challenge for Cancer Care.

My sincere thanks to everyone who came along and made the night so special, especially those who stepped forward and helped Mary’s Meals and Lisa’s Challenge.  The night could not have happened without Phil Agnew’s experience, work and charm.  He is a credit to everything good about the Celtic support.

Special thanks to Tom Boyd, John Hughes, Joe Miller and Tommy Coyne, who added range to the night at the Q&A session.  Thanks to Stuart Armstrong, who dropped in to spend an hour with us, and share some of his undisguised joy at being a Celtic player.

Archie Macpherson spoke about the world Jock Stein blew apart when he arrived at Celtic 50 years ago this week.  Archie’s range on Scottish football is peerless.  He became a friend and confidant of Jock, and gave us an insight into the extraordinary man.

No St Patrick’s Night would be complete without great music and for that our thanks to Patricia Ferns and Liam McGrandles, and a special mention those who put their shoulder to the wheel on the night, especially Geo from Biglens and the great hospitality staff at Celtic.

I’ve many people to catch up with but I’m planning to sleep for the next several days.  Cup Final apart.

If all weekends were like this weekend………
If all gatherings were like Celtic gatherings……….

Last few days have been all about the wonderful CQN11 and the less wonderful reaction to a `news`paper writing a negative story about our Captain before a big game. Time now to concentrate on all the positives ( there are many) and generate a solid confidence which will transfer from the terraces (?) to the players. Come on you bhoys in Green!!

    Cheerio for now.

    Yer up early big fella!

3 and 6 are the only parts of your plan that might not happen…… just a few? ????

5 is a racing certainty, especially seen as we haven’t has a game all week. If the pitch has taken and knitted well at least 3-0 to Celtic today.

You’re not the full shilling ……. are you KevJ….?

As usual, I have woke up too early on a Cup Final morning….. breaking a 30 year rule of not going to an away ground, due to the bigotry encountered.(but, in my defence, going on CELTIC Hospitality package with my wife , son and friends.)… HAIL HAIL to all lucky enough to have been born a Tim……..prediction ….. 4-0 to the Celtic….

Must be getting old, since I still haven’t recovered from CQN11 …. :)

  9. United gave us a game last week and I’m sure will make it tough for us today.

However, I think they’ll miss Ciftci and the inclusion of VVD for us will swing the balance well in our favour.

    Celtic to win 2-0.

Morning and a happy mothers day to mothers everywhere.

Was just thinking that the Griff will be up for it today, he must need the win bonus by the time he sends flowers on his kids behalf to their mothers he must be a skint this week.

Anyway before we get to the cup final wee shades team have a game in Hamilton this fine morning, sunglasses and gloves needed me thinks (for me not him), then its off to the dump, can I ask that if you really must bring flares (I know I know ).That you don’t let them off till after the 3rd minutes applause, cheers.

If. Nir makes it then 4 nil the hoops, if not 3 v 1 the hoops.

    VVD with the first.

  13. Don’t buy the rag so haven’t read the article but, in my ignorance, does it say anywhere how much Broonie had to drink? Any pictures of him holding a drink / Downing a shot etc??

If not, how do we know he was intoxicated to a level that would affect performance 60 hours before a game ? Because he sat down?

  14. Bitton and Commons starting would fill me with even greater confidence.

If Bitton doesn’t make it I’d prefer to see Henderson in the holding role beside Brown.

  15. 50 shades of green on

Another thing, when We start a chorus of lets all do the Broony, does that mean I get to sit down for a change.

Life is good, and in 30 years time there will be young tims saying they wished they were around during the decies.

My question for today is, will KC and Jamsie both be in the starting 11?

Easter in Dublin next year sounds like a cracking idea.

Do they still shut all the pubs on good Friday? .

Just had a vision of 40 or so lost souls stoating about Dublin trying to find the bus to the Guinness factory for the tour. :-)

  30. Off to the first of 15 Cup Finals for Celtic this year until the end of the season.

15 huge games toward what would be a historic treble.

Big support needed to play put part.

We will be up against more than 11 on the other side if pitch each week.

No one, fans or support should be turning up and expecting to win.

Likewise, it was a total pleasure and will be spoke about in years to come, a few of my mates who didn’t go mainly to keep money for today’s festivities are gutted as the ones that went hav been rubbing their noses in it

  32. Yesterday at 2pm C Young on BBC radio. Rangers in hot pursuit of Hibs in 2nd place expecting a crowd well over Tuesdays 35000 at ibrox today.

Since when did 2 draws and now 3 in a row constitute hot pursuit. And the attendance was actually lower than Tuesday ?

This guy did of course previously say on air ibrox was going to be full today just before kick of v hearts on opening day. 40000 were there.
