CQN 11 Knocking it out the park

1030

Where to start on last night’s CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner?  We knocked it out the park.  Hundreds came, thousands of pounds were raised, enough to help Mary’s Meals build a kitchen for a thousand more school kids in Malawi, and a £5,000 donation to Lisa Hague’s 30k Challenge for Marie Curie Challenge for Cancer Care.

My sincere thanks to everyone who came along and made the night so special, especially those who stepped forward and helped Mary’s Meals and Lisa’s Challenge.  The night could not have happened without Phil Agnew’s experience, work and charm.  He is a credit to everything good about the Celtic support.

Special thanks to Tom Boyd, John Hughes, Joe Miller and Tommy Coyne, who added range to the night at the Q&A session.  Thanks to Stuart Armstrong, who dropped in to spend an hour with us, and share some of his undisguised joy at being a Celtic player.

Archie Macpherson spoke about the world Jock Stein blew apart when he arrived at Celtic 50 years ago this week.  Archie’s range on Scottish football is peerless.  He became a friend and confidant of Jock, and gave us an insight into the extraordinary man.

No St Patrick’s Night would be complete without great music and for that our thanks to Patricia Ferns and Liam McGrandles, and a special mention those who put their shoulder to the wheel on the night, especially Geo from Biglens and the great hospitality staff at Celtic.

I’ve many people to catch up with but I’m planning to sleep for the next several days.  Cup Final apart.

If all weekends were like this weekend………
If all gatherings were like Celtic gatherings……….

Any you Bhoys know the Phil Agnew Phil mentions was at the CCQ show last night??

  7. I too have fond memories of the ’85 final. Took a girl for her first match, big crushes on the North terracing, people stretchered out and the infamous rivers flowing down the terracing. Doubt she ever went back!

But hey that wonderful girl will always be in my memory for breaking my duck in another non football sense….

Realising that I age with a lot of posters on here who also perhaps travelled regularly with the Glasgow Uni bus. Great days.

  12. Now tomorrow, as per usual in Scotland it’s all about the Celtic. In saying that it’s good to know what the opposition is doing, so if anybody has the bat line to Ronny give him the nod.

I posted Sunday night that McNamara, in his post match interview, stated it was a penalty, when he knew it wasn’t. Job done, no ban for his diver after his admission of guilt. One line for the press etc.

Friday, I noted him saying he hoped it was a good game, well he is at it again, as he is out to spoil as a spectacle by flooding the middle of the park and making it a 3 v 2. No major surprise, he has realized he does not have the tools to go toe too toe, so make it as scrappy as possible, and hope to nick one on the break.

He was born with cerebral palsy, but thanks to many CQNers and indeed his own family, he is receiving alternative treatment which may allow him to eat naturally, talk and maybe even walk.

Long way to go but improvements already showing.

I will post an update from the family tomorrow

I love ham ribs as does the kids but hate making them.

I always kept the kids away from the pots while cooking them, as it would have put them off.
