Creative options

Since July I’ve written about the over-dependence we have on Kris Commons as a creative player.  He’s pretty much our only option, and if he’s not fancied, injured, suspended or just off-form, we look like a team full of energy but without a key to open the door.

It may be that Ronny doesn’t figure on having a classic No. 10 in his team, and it’s more than possible that we won’t play one against European heavyweights, but against packed SPFL defences, we need someone who can create space in dangerous areas.

As we mentioned last month, some years ago Celtic reportedly looked at Bosnian international, Semir Stilic, while he was at Lech Poznan.  His star faded before a journey through Ukrainian and Turkish football before he returned to Poland with Wisla Krakow 12 months ago on an 18 month contract.  Since then he’s been a sensation and has kept Wisla in touch with the top of the table.

He’s refused a new contract offer from Wisla and is subject to a bid from Dinamo Zagreb, thought to be in the region of €250k.  He’s likely to be on circa €2k per week.  We’ve scouted the player, he’s soon out of contract, going cheap, on low wages, on form and we’re short of what he can give.

This is the kind of player Dinamo Zagreb pick up for buttons and enables them to compete as effectively as they did against Celtic with a fraction of our budget.  He has the making of an effective January signing.

Very funny, mate. I might use that myself for my next PL rant!

After all,not much has changed since my first one…

  5. Bring on the Killie! Really looking forward to seeing our bhoys get back on the pitch tonight. After hearing so much about Aberdeen over the past few says this is a chance to remind the media who the champions actually are.

We will need to be up for this one as the Ayrshire mob will discover a fighting spirit they have been lacking otherwise. Funny that.

  6. Why did the latest tranche of sevco share swappers not buy in at the outset if they were so emotionally invested?

I don’t get that aspect of it.

I do get the onerous contracts, the massive maintenance bill for the stadium, the need for an entire new playing squad and no access to normal credit.

So if the berz have circa £50 million to get them to square 1 and are then prepared to live on their income and not on debt, they have a fighting chance of being a top half SPL club who could challenge for a European place.

As we keep being told on here and elsewhere new rangers run properly is not going to look like old rangers run on tax dodges and borrowed cash.

Insolvency or austerity. Or insolvency followed by austerity….. Nothing has changed that.

    Forget about them.

  7. Let’s stop all this stupidity about the Ibrox club – there is nothing that anyone at Celtic could say that will change the historical position. The obsessed ranters on here should face reality, but of course they won’t, so skipping their guff is the only way.

There is no doubt that as last season progressed, Neil’s heart was not in it – he was looking for a way out.

So it was right to look for a new direction and methodology – Ronny may, or, may not provide it, however he deserves a chance. People resist change, but if we don’t change and progress, we die.

The Lawwell hatred is really perplexing – it is so entrenched that the usual suspects are hoping for failure to back-up their wild assertions.

These people are NOT Celtic supporters, they are agitators and conspirators, who after getting ‘stuffed’ in the referendum. are now setting their sights on causing havoc at Celtic FC.

Remember the environment in which Celtic operates, fighting for a share of £5 million TV money, while the EPL clubs fight for a share of £1 billion.

So, one half, of one percent, of EPL money available to Scottish clubs – let’s get real, we do the best we can in the circumstances – expecting CL group stages EVERY season is a nice though, but totally unrealistic.

Finally, those on here who want to tear our club to pieces, let me tell you – WE WILL NOT LET YOU!!!

I personally don’t think PL is doing a good job.

With our income we should be in the CL every season, yet we fail to prepare every season.

Our scouting system is a joke, we pay way over the odds, wages, for run of the mill players, I could go on…..

As for statements, no that bothered, nothing we can do or say, as for not tackling the cheating that comes from the referees, that is unforgivable imo.

  18. All the club have to do re the refereeing, is draw up a system where they are assessed after every game, make it public, where they are demoted for making wrong decisions.

Make them accountable, make them justify why they give certain decisions, Mr Z has told the blog that in Poland they have a system where something similar happens, it works fine.

The club should tell the msm this is what they are proposing.

In any fair footballing league this is the norm, I would like to see the msm squirming their way out of this.

    Let the footballers flourish.

Sort the referees, sort the problem.

  19. I wonder if Mr Sarver knows the kind of people he would be getting involved with.

Perhaps he should have a word with Bill Miller.

Bill took one look, was hounded by the fans and said, ‘no thanks’.

Would Mr Sarver want his name associated with the bigots and thugs who follow the club/company he would be buying into?

Week after week, singing their bile, trashing towns and cities wherever they go and all under the watchful gaze of Mr Sarver.

The markets have been informed today that Server has expressed an interest. He now has a few weeks to make a firm decision. I’d be very surprised at this stage if it’s a yes. Was a US based investor not ‘interested’ shortly before administration the last time?
