Creative options

Since July I’ve written about the over-dependence we have on Kris Commons as a creative player.  He’s pretty much our only option, and if he’s not fancied, injured, suspended or just off-form, we look like a team full of energy but without a key to open the door.

It may be that Ronny doesn’t figure on having a classic No. 10 in his team, and it’s more than possible that we won’t play one against European heavyweights, but against packed SPFL defences, we need someone who can create space in dangerous areas.

As we mentioned last month, some years ago Celtic reportedly looked at Bosnian international, Semir Stilic, while he was at Lech Poznan.  His star faded before a journey through Ukrainian and Turkish football before he returned to Poland with Wisla Krakow 12 months ago on an 18 month contract.  Since then he’s been a sensation and has kept Wisla in touch with the top of the table.

He’s refused a new contract offer from Wisla and is subject to a bid from Dinamo Zagreb, thought to be in the region of €250k.  He’s likely to be on circa €2k per week.  We’ve scouted the player, he’s soon out of contract, going cheap, on low wages, on form and we’re short of what he can give.

This is the kind of player Dinamo Zagreb pick up for buttons and enables them to compete as effectively as they did against Celtic with a fraction of our budget.  He has the making of an effective January signing.

Just got this, Gist of things. Cash flow warning to SE tomorrow about the possibility of Admin 2. (Meaning all shares would be worthless, ie King etc

Charles Green openly said in media up here 6 months ago he was in USA seeking new investment. Yank was being lined up to buy WHOLE club. They are trying to collapse the parent company therefore appointing an administrator and all dodgy deals are therefore kept secret. (Which they want). However I believe King et al have made extra investment immediately to be converted into extra shareholding stake in future thus making admin illegal

Dunno about Android, but on an iPhone, place and hold finger on URL until ‘copy’ appears.

Click on that, then when you make your post, place and hold finger on screen until ‘paste’ appears.

Click on that, and it will transfer the URL.

    Hope that makes sense!

Set in or about An Gorta Mor ? – isn’t that one and the same thing.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

No. If it was a comedy about the Irish Famine then the jokes would be about the impact of the famine on the Irish population whereas if it is set in Ireland at the time of the famine, it would not. Allo, Allo was set during World War Two as was Dad’s Army. The humour centred around the characters and the background was the second world war an tragic event where is is estimated between 50 and 80 million people died.

    ==

Nonsense the very idea is offensive in the extreme. The population of Ireland fell by 25% during the years of hunger. Over 1 million Irish died of starvation in a land of plenty, millions emigrated and further thousands died in coffin ships fleeing to the new world to survive. Yet some see no harm in comparing that to Dads army or Allo Allo – FFS.

Perhaps a chorus of the famine song is in order, that is also just a bit of harmless fun isn’t it?

    ———————————————————————————————————————

So it’s ok to set comedies in the First (Black Adder) and Second World Wars but not the Irish Famine?

    =====

What do you not understand? Black adder, dads army etc are not shows about a defenceless peoples misery, fact is most historian now class it as attempted genocide. An English TV company making a comedy about the great hunger – how about a German company making comedy show about the mass murder of Jews during WW2. Why stop there why not a wee comedy show about Rwanda or the Albanian genocide, oh how we laughed.

  16. When I heard about this I was a little confused…

Historical revisionism suggests there was a Famine. There was not a famine. It was a systematic starvation. A potato blight yes… A famine? Only for those undeserving according to the powers that were. It was a systematic starvation to feed more productive elements of the “empire”.

Personally I cannot see any laughs in that…? Even if the revisionism was addressed and the true narrative was expressed….

Still cannae see or feel the laughs…

    We live in weird times.

    And those who cite Blackadder…

That was satire designed to make a point about “empire”, whilst respecting the dead.

  17. Keith Chris Hugh and all the other MSM characters should simply be known collectively as Winston Smith.

The Rags and particularly the BBC should be known as The Ministry of Truth.

    George Orwell was correct.

After a generation or two of this nonsense they will come to be accepted as fact. Those who aspire to truth will be dead as our offspring are distracted by social media, a love of the present and a disdain for history.

I have posted for a long time that while this is most evident in Fitba, it also applies to business, politics and war.

The fact remains…Sport, much as I love Celtic and its traditions and ethos, is all about tradition and family values. But values, traditions and family values change over time.

We are being played like a violin. That is why when any political expression is expressed, it is illogically crushed, because Fitba is one of the only arenas or collectives where political expression can be found. That is the reason for the GB being villified. They are dangerous. They express an opinion, a collective opinion that must be snuffed out. Dramatic statement. No. A fundamental truth…. Freedom of expression. Freedom of speech…But not when you are in large crowds where you may gather support.

Unions have been emasculated by careerists.

Politics have been shoved to the sidelines.

    The market dominates.

Political parties have moved to the center right and are dominated by PR groups who control the careerist leaders.

    Tell you what…

To quote one of Paul67s favourite songs…

A Hard Rain Is Gonna Fall…

    (On Our Kids heads)

Excuse the rant but it is difficult to take the BS sometimes…..

  18. Let’s all hope that we can clear out the ‘deadwood’ – bring in a couple of new faces – and be ship-shape by the end of January.

Kayal, Boerrigter, Berget, Rogic, Tonev, Wakaso, McGeoch, Baldie and Pukki, must be cleared out.

This would leave us with a first team pool of around TWENTY seasoned pros – add in the likes of Fisher, Twardzik, O’Connell, Fraser and Irvine and Fridjonsson back from loans.

We must then add experience – a central defender (out and out ball winner) – cover at left wing-back – two creative mid-fielders.

This would give us a compact first team squad of thirty to see out the season successfully and on to the CL qualifiers.

At the moment our nominated first team squad is FORTY, of which TWENTY never play – yes 50% of our squad are either out on loan, or, just don’t get a game.

This represents a colossal waste of money, even allowing for a proportion of the loanees wages being paid by their respective clubs, I reckon we are frittering £80k/week (£4m/year) on wages for players who have no future with the club – more than enough to fund 4/5 good quality experienced and well chosen replacements.

I sincerely hope Kris Commons stays!!!!

Seems to me a case of not seeing the wood for the trees!

I, and when thier doon they might want to ask RK why he ran a mile from the Celtic job?

RK would have been a ‘storm’ of a Celtic manager.

Was RK’s managerial record any worse/better than – WGS or BTM or Neil’s, afore they got the Celtic managers seat?

Would RK have allowed Liewwell to foist a load of ‘foriegn’ p#shy, carboot sale players on him?

Anyway…Celtic visit Killie tonight and should take care of the team that the died huns put out the SC, eh?

Aberdeen are p#sh but, Celtic are p#sher.

If I had the choice of….

Aberdeen winning the League ‘if’ it meant getting rid of the ‘bored’, Liewwell, DD and all the other faceless feckers who roll about the bed with the hun establishment on your behalf.

Or, RD’s Celtc winning the League and then having Liewwell’s media-puppets telling us how much of a visionary that, RD and Pete-the piss-ripper are and that, there will be no limit to what RD can achieve at the club.

Then, I say – give Aberdeen the League flag and trophy right now!

Celtic FC dont exist anymore – time to rip-up the charade and start again.

Michael Kelly was no snowman but, he saw through the McCann charade.

Please dont blame RD for Celtic being p#sh – blame the plick who brought him in just like he brought in, WGS to compete wi the downsizing huns, BTM to pick-up the shambles left beind by wee wonderful Gordon and, Neil – the last chance saloon manager who took the job coz, the managerial circuit who were, wise to Liewwells ways – rubbered the approaches made by, Liewwells 3rd parties….yeah, RD is ‘NOT’ the problem…he’s merely the latest shield to cover Liewwell and Parks racketeering with the foriegn agent circuit. How they have got away with – rank, rank, rank bad management of the resources available that could have developed the club for the next decade at least but, instead they have ‘chanced’ their arm and, got away with it by foisting a p#shy-product onto the, gullible-brainwashed-happy-clapping-retarded-seals who just bend over for more and, what they get and have still to get…they fully deserve for being the coco the clowns supporters club/association of world football or, to cut out all the waffle 30k of dicks.

Moan the sheep – deliver the medicine and, deliver us all from this evil axis at the core of the charade called Celtic FC.

    Off oot, bye.

  23. Kevjungle,

I would refer you to Alfie Noakes post.

He dissects part of the squandering of the football budget by Director of Football Lawwell.

He can add in the shambles of Lennoxtown / St Ninians under Chris MCCart. You know Man City sent a group of their 14/15 year olds to St Ninians which was interesting for the locals. Conclusion interesting approach , very poor execution by Celtic.

We have a football budget 8x our nearest rivals in SPFL. As Alfie Noakes explains and Kev Jungle is angry about it is being grossly mismanaged resulting in a poor team in the park a bloated squad no pipeline of talent ( apart from what he buy from Hamilton centre forward Quinn, Kerr etc )

On top of that we have paid out close to £15M on projects who failed to make the grade incl Bangura who was not mentioned.

We should be light years ahead of the competition in the CL with a functioning youth system of our own.

When you have a Beancounter like Lawwell as Director of Football this is the mess you end up in. I wish we had a Sean Fallon to stand up to charlatan and to find and develop the talent which still exists today.

Under our current beancounter/DOF Lawwell the downsizing will continue and Celtic Park will be pay at the gate soon.
