Appropriate appreciation is due to Dedryk Boyata for his MVP performance on Wednesday. He scored the goal that won the points, could have scored more and made the most impressive defensive intervention of the game.
If scouts were in the Celtic Park stand watching, he did all he could to entice an offer, but a sample size of one game is not enough to validate a change in form for me.
Brendan has a big selection decision to make for Hearts on Sunday. You could argue he’s got the best from Patrick Roberts by bringing him on as a substitute in Celtic’s last four games, the most recent three of which the player considerably lifted the Celtic performance. Patrick will be wondering what he needs to do to get a start.
Chelsea want to sign Craig Gordon? No surprise there, they did sign Magnus Hedman a year after he left Celtic, after all. Craig is playing well and a reliable cog in an effective defensive wheel. But you know me. This far off the qualifiers, it’s all about the price as far as I’m concerned.
Everyone has a price, to think otherwise is to deny the future exists.

I think you have over-reacted to some fairly accurate comments on Liverpool’s history and their adoption by a section in the Occupied 6 counties.
I did not see anyone claim that their issues were in any way a mirror image of Glasgow- but a fair comparison might be made with Edinburgh and Hearts: HIbs.
My anecdotal contribution of evidence is that I attended a European match in Germany in the late 70s in the home end at Moenchengladbach. One of the Liverpool fans flew the red hand flag without comment or demur from the traveling Liverpool support. Another, having paid to travel to Germany and get a ticket, spent the entire 90 minutes holding on to the separation wire fence, facing away from the match, and shouting abuse in English at the home support. I took great pleasure in shouting back at him in Scottish-accented English at the end of the game.
On balance, modern Liverpool is not sectarian and very few Liverpool fans ever were but it is neither an invented nor a false claim to state they had a sizeable minority support of an Orange persuasion, and they were not all imports from the 6 counties.
Got to laugh at some of the revisionist nonsense some people try to pass of as facts.

Don’t get me started on Rapid Vienna in 1985ish, I had 3 walls in my bedroom decked out in Celtic stuff and one blue wall (our lady’s blue) of Everton…. as well as the Austrian cheats those teachers with their EIS strikes done us 4th years out of a wee trip to Old Trafford, we could have played the cheats at Pittodrie but our board chased the cash…. Sydney Tim I think Peter Lawell was in work experience back then :-)
This Lisbon trip is my modern day Seville :-(

Always happy to see any of the Ponzi scheme rabble in the EPL implode.
How any Tim can take the slightest interest in their games, history and current form is beyond me.
They are responsible with their Sky money, along with SFA incompetence and orange bastards for destroying the Scottish game.
Sky is Orwellian? Jings, help ma boab, dae yae think???

BMCUWPs,
Yes that was a great couple of days:)
My Uncle Rod Docherty is currently in St Margaret’s Hospice, Clydebank. Rod’s a SB holder and lifelong supporter and is currently in transition to much a much happier place.
I was over last week and the staff there arranged for the ‘Big Cup’ to be at the hospice. Rod was photographed with the cup with a delighted smile on his face.
I got a message a couple of hours ago and the news, tonight is pretty bleak.
Any prayers for Rod, his family and the staff at the hospice would be greatly appreciated at this time.

Sydneytim Frankly bang out of order imho
*I’ve been on here almost since the beginning; I come on periodically and debate, whether right and wrong, with a few lhistees. There are some I no longer read and therefore respond tae, they fall intae 3 categories:
1. Those who talk a lot of scheitd.
2. Those who no matter how much you debate with them they won’t wilt and are stuck in their ways. A bit like Mrs. TT.
3. Those so consumed with hate and venom that they refuse tae see any good in the other person(s). A bit like yer average hun.
Yawn yawn yawn, as much as your likely to see a red hand flag displayed amongst the Liverpool support your as likely to see an Irish tri-colour displayed amongst the Chelsea support. So we can assume that Chelsea are a club with a proud Irish heritage by that reasoning
Cast your mind back 3 years ago where a sizeable Celtic crowd were outnumbered by about 5:1 by a Liverpool support at the Aviva in Dublin . If I remember correctly the majority of Liverpool tickets went to citizens of the Irish republic. So much for their orange connections that Liverpool are only second to Manchester United in the allegiances of those in the republic who support British clubs.
ps try asking a barman in Macroom to switch the telly over to a Celtic game when Chelsea are live on the telly
CLOGHER CELT
Prayers offered for your uncle and the family. At a time of distress Faith can be a consolation. HH

*nobodies debating who the Irish support. It’s about the history of the Merseyside clubs.
I was in a pub in Claddaghduff after Mass one Sunday when there was a game on, the 2 front rows were boys with Liverpool and Arse strips on.
Later on in that trip I was walking through Drogheda when I spotted a lad with a Leeds top on. This is the place that cromwell tried tae decimate where every 10th man was killed and the rest sent tae Barbados.
At the time Gary Kelly was playing for Leeds so could have been a family member possibly his nephew Ian Harte who would later sign for them. Still WTF moment.
I had a mate whose da came fae Kerry and he used tae say the best Irishmen came fae the West of Scotland,
mickbhoy1888 on 28th January 2017 7:43 pm
Its happened to me twice.
Once in an Irish pub in Gothenburg and once in an Irish pub in Paphos. Both full of irish. EPL trumped Celtic both times.
CLOGHER CELT
Prayers for Rod and your family at this tough time for you all.HH

That game in the Aviva in regards to supporter numbers certainly opened my eyes.
I was completely dumbfounded.
In saying that I think that our supporters from Ireland are tremendous, especially with the length of travel they endure.

I have taken two lengthy sabbatocals from this site over the last 31 months but would not wish to make any assumptions as to why certain well liked and erudite posters no longer post here – but I noticed when I returned to the fold towards the end of last summer that a lot more of those I was interested in were not gone. RWE was one and another was Captain Beefheart whose political views rarely chimed with my own but who was obviously a literate person and real Celt.
I think the proliferation of ads has not helped but the endless political debates can often grate. As it happens I thought the debate yesterday morning that involved Kitalba, MacJay and others whilst passionate and heated was stimulatong and educated. Above all it was civilised. But last night when the blogs most poisonous contributor made several interjections put me right off. I had been going to ask some advice about reading matter before I logged on but instead watched an old episode of the Avengers and QI rather than contribute until ACGR said what I thought. Nights like last night are too frequent on here for my taste over the last 3 years – most featuring no contribution feom thar creep I must add- and I was close to blocking the web address and finally cutting the cord.
Another perhaps lesser quibble is that the blog can seem a bit like a boys’ club. Very few women post here I think – Dena and occasionally Minx are about it though I accept that with noms de plume there may be others. I am guilty of joining in about the attractiveness or otherwise of certain women but I wonder if that aspect has put people off. The repeated talk of cliques is really boring too.
Sorry for rabitting on but the blog does mean quite a lot to me and I would miss it. But much more of the kind of garbage that fouled this place last night and I will be off. I doubt I would be alone.
