Dedryck after his MVP performance and Craig

1282

Appropriate appreciation is due to Dedryk Boyata for his MVP performance on Wednesday. He scored the goal that won the points, could have scored more and made the most impressive defensive intervention of the game.

If scouts were in the Celtic Park stand watching, he did all he could to entice an offer, but a sample size of one game is not enough to validate a change in form for me.

Brendan has a big selection decision to make for Hearts on Sunday. You could argue he’s got the best from Patrick Roberts by bringing him on as a substitute in Celtic’s last four games, the most recent three of which the player considerably lifted the Celtic performance. Patrick will be wondering what he needs to do to get a start.

Chelsea want to sign Craig Gordon? No surprise there, they did sign Magnus Hedman a year after he left Celtic, after all. Craig is playing well and a reliable cog in an effective defensive wheel. But you know me. This far off the qualifiers, it’s all about the price as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone has a price, to think otherwise is to deny the future exists.

I know a lot of fans have a 2nd team , I followed Villa when working in Brum late 70″s early 80’s

    ———————————————-

You must have been in Brum the same time as me (78 – 84) and I used to go and see the Villa as well but can’t see them far enough these days due to an @rse that is married to my oldest daughter. He doesn’t even come from Brum, he comes from Blackpool but supports Villa.

I honestly would say none or very few consider Celtic to be Irish.

They are a Scottish team founded by Irish immigrants who are generally considered to have strong links to Ireland. But no one I know considers them to be an Irish team.

Or is it a trick question

Indeed so. Hope you are well. Rather regret booking Las Vegas and not Lisbon.

  6. Gerry,

I have an extended crew from County West Meath (my home land). We are arranging an extended family meet this May in Babbity’s on the Friday before the Scottish Cup Final. We did this the year of the ICT/non-hand-ball semi, but hope for better luck this time. (Patch Man in Babbity’s was fair impressed with the number in attendance that night, probably because of the money we were spending!.)

Meeting up with the relies is fun any time – on a Celtic occasion it is doubly blessed.

Do it any time you can!

Take care H, I have enjoyed our beers immensely and look forward to our next pint, you and that bampot Philbhoy are very good company :-)

  9. I made a comment, about the transfer window, this January,I said that Celtic wouldn’t do much business,in this window,so far 1 player has been purchased, Celtic like all previous Windows, they talk a good talk, without adding recruitments, now quote if I am wrong, but Brendan stated he would like to see a bit of quality,in the team ,in January, rather in the summer, we’re are they, because I think there will be no more additions, it’s all spin, winning the league, getting into the Champion League,20 million, sell a few players, balance the books, keep the shareholders happy, one final question were is all the money gone?

@Pog……..Whit area of Brum where you in?

I stayed in digs in West Heath to start with then moved to Great Barr then eventually settled in Harborne where my local was the Plough. Spent most nights in there. I also brought one of them back to Scotland with me and have been married to her ever since but she is a Baggies fan after the Bhoys of course.

  11. @Timbhoy……Ach naw tonight mate…………..

When me & the missus got hitched the family from across the water were over the moon for the invite, seemingly they said they had a few months to decide who was coming over, the only invite they usually get is a funeral so it’s a case of who can go in the next few days :-)

I will make sure I get over and meet the lot of them, in fact let me know where your meeting this May and I might turn up and buy you a pint and talk rubbish about Celtic :-)

  13. Update from the lhads visit to the stadium in Lisbon today.

Saturday morning it was being used by an athletics club. They walked straight in and wandered wherever they pleased. They met another Celt from Paisley and two Portuguese staff saw the Hoops tops and welcomed them around the place. They knew the history.

Expect it will be a bit busier come May.

Something to be remembered when they sing that dirge.

  16. gftb- aye without CQN a lot of friendships would never have happened. Personally i have really enjoyed meeting up at Hoots and putting a face to a blog name.

Most have been a good laugh/company and you get to hear some great stories and on occasion, some sad ones. I have found them to be generous and their love of family and Celtic shine through.

Those that post negatively or rudely are just that in real life. More to be pitied than scorned.

I flounced once after the Indy vote and those posters i clashed with are mostly gone, with one or two notable exceptions still here and still causing rancour.

I mainly ignore them now as they are not worth my energy.

So CQN is still worth being part of. How it evolves in the future is down to Paul and how we ourselves contribute.

Best wishes to the lot of you!

  17. Geez, been busy and missed the news – predictable Hun/Gollum interface aside.

Then reading back CQN informs you of a real poingnant popular cultural loss.

RIP John Hurt. Dies at 77 after a long battle with horrendous injuries received aboard USS Nostromo.

    Fantastic actor.

Alien made his name and The Elephant Man secured his legacy. Throw in his great trippin’ part in Midnight Express and there’s a prominent role in three of the greatest films of the 70s and 80s right there. Great work, fella.

I don’t even know who you would like to purchase but I think they would be a squad player……

Enjoy the good times, we might even see a treble barring any cheating influences

I was in Derby for two years 84 and 85. Went to see DCFC a few times. Gave up when the DLF Derby Lunatic Fringe objected to my Celtic t shirt and subjected me to a Racist anti Irish attack. Scum were singing about burning Irish and Blacks. Found acceptance at Villa Park, where I watched most of my football in England.

  20. @Pog…. I worked out of Smallheath,then Bordesley Green

  21. Why Liverpool are so popular in the Republic confuses me. Liverpool is not short on orange lodges and bands. Dalglish etc aside aside it’s Everton for me. At the end of the day most football guys first choice of team come from within their own country.

I know where my family came from on both sides hence the reason I am whatI am an unapologeticTim. Ultimately I know that the one thing that my grandfather could cling to and express himself through was football. CELTIC.

A very intelligent man who was amongst the few Catholic provosts in Scotland of his generation. Hehelped shape me into the well balanced individual who has well balanced sons. As I have always said we have got to better than them. It annoys them more than anything.
