Defence need to play-up for their keeper

812

First the treble then the double slipped through the net leaving Celtic absolute certainties for the inaugural Scottish Premiership title, but with only a couple of higher aspirations to aim for.  Fraser Forster is closing in on Bobby Clark’s Aberdeen league shut out record, which if he keeps a clean sheet at home to St Johnstone on Sunday, he would be able to eclipse 31 minutes into the visit to Tynecastle on 22 February.

Neil Lennon called Saturday’s defeat unacceptable but it would be just as unacceptable to concede to St Johnstone at home this weekend when so close to an all-time record.    Saints have scored only one league goal away from home (at Firhill) since winning at Tynecastle on 2 November last year.  Notwithstanding their four Cup goals at Forfar on Saturday, you could not wish for a more goal-shy league visitors.

The manager was rightly critical of his defence on Saturday so will hopefully use this weekend to ensure they are ready to play up for their goalkeeper this Sunday.

One of the highlights for the Celtic community last year was the incredible Ben Nevis Huddle, completed on the snow-capped mountain in June. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 28 June. Applications opened on Friday and there are only 77 places left (big mountain but limited safe standing capacity). Go here if you want to get involved.

I was not embarrassed by Celtic’s performance in the Champions League, the tournament went to form, we are a pot four team and we came fourth as expected, we were unlucky not to get better results from higher ranked teams, that was a bonus, people expecting better results are spoiled, people who demand we perform like we did last season are simply deluding themselves.

Saturday was poor from both players and manager, sometimes shit happens, if arrogant spoiled brats cant accept that thats their problem, stomping around and banging doors scweaming and scweaming that everything has to change because they dont like it is not going to make things any better.

I am as annoyed at Lenny as the next man, I thought he had learned that sometimes you have to stick to the traditional 4-4-2 when playing relatively strong teams, wing backs playing along side wingers is just plain silly IMO but Lenny thought differently, and knows if its unsuccessful the usual posse will be out to hunt him from Celtic Park the good thing is he’s going nowhere and he’ll lead us to ten in a row before he goes.

I will, however, start a debate about the managers though. I’ve selected WGS as the manager over MON for 2 reasons. Both managers had to combat the filthy cheating huns, aka EBT FC at their cheating peak, and although MON took us to Seville WGS took us through to the last 16 of the CL twice. The 2 reasons are that MON was given a pot load of money to spend, WGS wasn’t and that may have cost him 4-IAR, and more importantly MON had Henrik – unlike us in our team selections, shame on you Doc and CRC ;-)

Ps I also think WGS would have taken us to Seville with the team of 2003.

  13. 67Heaven, absolutely they do and this is one of those poor seasons. So let’s not pretend that shut outs or unbeaten runs in a poor league make it anything other than a poor season. Yeah we have no right to win every game, but Morton at home …….I know that even if we don’t concede another goal all season, Albion Rovers and Sevco gave gone further than us in the SC. And make sure and whisper that cos it’s pretty embarrassing.

  14. Ah the olde MON vWGS DEBATE!

MON all day long for me

Think of two consecutive games against the deid Huns

We lose 4 going on 6 or 7 at the bigotdome -then at the start of the next season we beat them 6-2 at CP

Anyone who thinks WGS could have turned that around lives in dream land

And let me add that I think WGS did a great job for us but MON burst them on and off the park -TAF – at £12M -yes that’s £12M !

Hidding resigned from Anzhi post in the Russian way. He was asked to resign and say few good words about the club. Official statement was given on Anzhi website. The truth is, he was given 1+1 year contract in April 2012. “Said thank you” in July 2013 after two rounds that were defeats.

Only assistant to South Korea coach? Hmm. There is more in the story.

He took his full Anzhi coaching team with him to Korea. He is the mentor to first coach there. South Korea will play in the same group with Russia, Belgium and Algeria. Hidding knows much about these two teams. His role in korea is more important than first coach.
