Demonising liquidation carries risk

990

I didn’t hear the scores of other games this weekend until today when I read a red card protest (remember the day Celtic fans gave birth to this concept?) occurred at Ibrox to demonstrate disapproval to any potential new owner who plans to liquidate Rangers.

It would be preferable to everyone if Rangers paid their bills, restoring a degree of dignity, although apparently no one is offering to do this.  Publicly bidders for the club will all confirm their preference is to exit administration via a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  Offering pennies in the pound for a company is unquestionably a great deal, for the buyer, but whoever is nominated as preferred bidder this week is likely to have a serious option to liquidate the club.

Demonising the liquidation option carries risks for Rangers fans.  Short of raising considerably more money than they have thus far and paying their bills, there is little fan power can do right now.  If liquidation is the best option for creditors it will happen, better to accept the reality of the situation.  Whatever the resulting phoenix club is called, if the new owners inherit animosity from the start it will only diminish the potential of their new club.

    Thanks for your honest answer.

Coincidentally , I’m also a fan of juvenile and amateur football like yourself.

I believe you’re an ayrshire man , so I guess your money’s on Hurlford for the Scottish.

I think them v Colville Park will be a great amateur final.

What age group of juvenile football do you watch most ?

Hate is a horrible word, and maybe I have never experienced hating someone.

Well, I’ll just get on with it.

You seem to have a rough ride at times, i remember a horrific story of an attack on you.

But you seem to meet it head on, and enjoy life now.

    Ed,

a lot of, big boys did it and ran away about that post, head buried in the sand, seems to be the party line.

Where do you stand on the scratching of titles and trophys ?

Will you accept our long standing claim about the sfa’s bias and cheating on your clubs behalf ?

or is that still paranoia ?

has your cognitive dissonance become a mental disorder ?

  6. L&M :-I agree with you on the probable finalists and trying not be biased I do think this will be Hurlfords year, I don’t know about the final but I’ll definitely be at Meadow Park for the semi on the 21st.

While I watch a few age groups from under 14s up I tend to concentrate on the under 18s as at the end of the season those are the players we can sign. Amateur clubs can sign under 18s but we then come under the protection act and it would cost us too much to arrange separate dressing rooms, separate travel and put folk through their compliance certificate etc.

At this time of the season you always get a few players who are due to turn 18 or just have turned 18 and are too old to stay at youth level so hopefully we can snap them up.

Thats 22 Tainted trophies in the EBT era plus all the tainted European money they squanderedthat could have went to other Scottish clubs especially the untainted Celtic. I wonder how many European teams will be after compensation when the facts are laid “bear”.

    Bloke109,

there’s only one person been called a hun all night :oD))))

  9. Canamalar :- If my post came over like that it wasn’t meant to, I thought I laid the blame squarely at those responsible, the folk who have ran Rangers when it was happening.

As far as removing trophies from the record, if that’s what the rules say then that’s what should happen.

Do I feel the SFA have favoured Rangers? at times yes. I’m not saying it didn’t happen before but the earliest I know of would be the Jorge Cadette registration, I also feel they don’t allow Mr Lennon as much leeway as other managers get.

Do I think Celtic fans are paranoid? Nah, just mental ;-)

Has my CD became a mental disorder? Not that I know of but would I know if it had.

Ed…is it Hurlford and Glasgow Harp in the semi ?….If I’m right , I think Hurlford will progress although Harp shouldn’t be discounted as they are a team I watch every season. Colville Park knocked my team out earlier and since then I’ve felt they were a good bet for the final, although Drumchapel will give them a good game in semi , and I won’t be surprised if Drum win on the day.

As per the boys , I agree with you about how the good amateur sides have to snap up the good 18/19 yr olds , and win the battle between football and bevy / women that the young guys go through at that age. My amateur side have a 21s and have had 19s in the past. My own son goes 17s next season and to be fair the distractions are plentiful , between schoolwork , other sport (golf in his case) , women , and drink. I only hope he’s still playing for as long as he can.

To be disappointed that some show civility to Edward… That is your right and privilege.

Everyone on here is disappointed in what others post at some time.

The civil response is indifference, or as we say scrolling on.

To call posters fawning hun lovers. That is incendiary, in different levels.

My late father differentiated between a bluenose and a Hun. Although he never used the word Hun. He had a synonym which was a weary shake of the head followed by one word repeated twice… “Bitter… Bitter.

To quote Martin Luther King Jr

“Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness”

  17. L&M :- I don’t mean any disrespect to Glasgow Harp but I know a few of the Hurlford boys and I know the fancy their chances especially with the game being in Ayrshire and just a few mile from their home.

I know Drumchapel are a strong team and will make a game of it but I fancy Coleville Park to go through.

It’s been a while since an Ayrshire club have taken the Scottish (though I seem to recall an Ayrshire club winning a national trophy just a couple of weeks ago so that may be an omen) and I think this could be Hurlfords year.

  18. They will follow the one called Glasgow Rangers.

  26. Why is everything so much sunnier and brighter today?

On my visit to the local supermarket this morning to pick up some multi grain bread, all the ladies, young and old, were smiling at me and wishing me a Happy Easter and a Good Morning.

After checking my flies, properly zipped, I put it down to the outsize smile on my face and my jaunty step.

After the pain of the last three years Neil Lennon must take credit for our raised spirits and my positive, even sunny, disposition. Not a bad achievement for a grumpy old sexagenarian.

If Peter Lawell could bottle the atmosphere and feel good attitude of Saturday, he would open up a valuable revenue stream and probably provide a non opiate pain killer for the relief of sufferers all around Timdom.

Having been here from your “baptism” (can I say that?) on CQN, I see no need for you to apologise or explain to others.

I think I speak for all the long term CQNers in saying that your presence here is welcomed and encouraged. We are lucky to attract intelligent, reasonable people like yourself searching for sensible discourse.
