I didn’t hear the scores of other games this weekend until today when I read a red card protest (remember the day Celtic fans gave birth to this concept?) occurred at Ibrox to demonstrate disapproval to any potential new owner who plans to liquidate Rangers.
It would be preferable to everyone if Rangers paid their bills, restoring a degree of dignity, although apparently no one is offering to do this. Publicly bidders for the club will all confirm their preference is to exit administration via a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). Offering pennies in the pound for a company is unquestionably a great deal, for the buyer, but whoever is nominated as preferred bidder this week is likely to have a serious option to liquidate the club.
Demonising the liquidation option carries risks for Rangers fans. Short of raising considerably more money than they have thus far and paying their bills, there is little fan power can do right now. If liquidation is the best option for creditors it will happen, better to accept the reality of the situation. Whatever the resulting phoenix club is called, if the new owners inherit animosity from the start it will only diminish the potential of their new club.

As to your last accusation of lies, please read a little more carefully. I do not and would not accuse Pope Benedict of having been a Nazi. In common with all boys in his position, he was conscripted into the Hitler Youth. As far as I know he was not enthusiastic about them but he did not actively resign the position. I don’t believe there is any great moral failing in that omission. He has more serious charges to answer as an adult in his handling of clerical child abuse than he has in this period of his life.
Enough tedium. Please try a bit harder to think rigorously before jumping at errors you imagine you have read.

If the club were to embark on a no pay policy, fair enough, it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us, unless they get what should be coming to them that is, and then no way.

First post from a long time lurker. Been a very happy Easter weekend and as the Championship celebrations move into day 4 my attention is turning to Hampden on Sunday. I heard a Redemptionist Father say that there was a theory that human beings were “wired” towards doing good. It was a consequence of being made in God’s image.
This being the case the way that we do wrong is to convince ourselves through rationalisation that we are doing what is right. On such a basis are wars fought and blood spilt.
I think there is a lot to the theory and it helps understand when another person does what we perceive to be wrong.
On some issues the moral argument is clear and the consequences of the wrong thinking (the justification) do not take long to manifest themselves. In other cases it can take years, during which time the consequences unfold at a steady and unstoppable rate. Its as if life is designed in such a way as to allow free will to act but teach through the consequences what works and what does’nt. (its called reality.) The consequences of what works are generally pleasant and so encourage more of the same behaviour, the consequences of what does not work are usually painful and discourage a repeat of the wrong behaviour.
Just taking what has happened at Rangers since SDM took over is a great example. The lesson is that it is best to be ethical and uphold moral values and if that lesson is ignored it will be more pain until there is some gain (in understanding) and a change to adopt ethical values or die.
