Demonising liquidation carries risk

990

I didn’t hear the scores of other games this weekend until today when I read a red card protest (remember the day Celtic fans gave birth to this concept?) occurred at Ibrox to demonstrate disapproval to any potential new owner who plans to liquidate Rangers.

It would be preferable to everyone if Rangers paid their bills, restoring a degree of dignity, although apparently no one is offering to do this.  Publicly bidders for the club will all confirm their preference is to exit administration via a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  Offering pennies in the pound for a company is unquestionably a great deal, for the buyer, but whoever is nominated as preferred bidder this week is likely to have a serious option to liquidate the club.

Demonising the liquidation option carries risks for Rangers fans.  Short of raising considerably more money than they have thus far and paying their bills, there is little fan power can do right now.  If liquidation is the best option for creditors it will happen, better to accept the reality of the situation.  Whatever the resulting phoenix club is called, if the new owners inherit animosity from the start it will only diminish the potential of their new club.

  3. My dear,dear,dear,friend..Invercelt.

    Hiya, pal…

    Do you live in Inverness?

If ye dae, then . you probably can answer this question.

    which Ah wull ask.. shortly.

    But First.. a Leetle Backgrun…

A Guid Few Years ago. Me and several of Ma Compadres.. were visiting Kinlocheven..

Wan o’ Ma pals, wiz contemplating Buying the wee Newsagent and General Store..that wiz fur Sale ,in the Village Center.

So.. We checked oot the Shop.. and spent the rest of the day…

    looking fur something tae eat…

It seemed that , the Only Baker’s Shoap in the Village.. which also,Doubled, as a Fish and Chip shoap. but, only after Six in the evening.. had run oota Inventory.. so , as we wur fair starving..

and the time wiz only.. Wan o’cloak…

we found oot that the Best thing fur us tae dae, aboot satisfying oor Hunger.. wid be tae Go tae Fort William

Then, we fun oot that the Bus tae Fort William didnae come ,until.. Five O’ Cloak ,in the Evening…

    Hmmmmmm

Not tae worry… An auld gentleman Farmer.. we met.. Informed us that , we should climb, yonder.. Mountain.. and when we reached the summit.. We wid be able tae walk tae Inverness..

And tae oor delight.. the auld distinguished Gentleman Farmer,

Vouchsafed .. when asked How long it wid take us tae Arrive in For William.

“Jings, Folks..it wull take Nae time at awe,”

when asked if he could Narrow that time factor.. a leetle bit..

    he , procaimed..

“It wull tak you ,fellahs. aboot.. Half and Hour.. it is Just a Few Miles. over the Mamore Mountains,Tae Fort William..

Fur the English, when they wur chasing the Scots rebels in the Seventeen Whatnots.. Had built a Military Road.. which, is the Road which you wull be following.. and it leads ye directly tae Fort William.”

    Sounded guid.

We then set aboot.. the task of climbing the Mountain.. dressed in Oor Jackson’s Full Drape Suits and Tasseled Slip oans…

and Ah kin tell ye that, all of us quickly found oot..

that Slip ons, are entirely unsatisfactory footwear.. fur.. Climbing yer local Mountain.

Nevertheless,we persevered and eventually we reached the Summit..

It took. us.. Two or Three Hoors!

At the Summit , we found that there was, indeed.. the Vestiges of A Military Road.. which we proceeded tae follow.

This Mountain Range, the Mamores.. Ah believe they are Called.. ..have a Flat Summit… and the Road, which was built oan it… was Very easy tae follow..

    So. off we trooped.

Four Hours Later.. and by this time.. it wiz Getting daurk…

Heck ,it wuz Dark.. we approached a Forrest.. Yes.. A Real.. Hansel and Gretel Type.. Forrest..

And as we entered the Forrest.. well.. There was No Doobt aboot it..

    It wiz Defiinitely Dark…

    And Spooky..and bloody.. Unnerving… tae…

Owls wur Hooting.. and there wur all sorts of Unrecognizable

Grunts and Heavy Breathing.. that could be heard.. coming seemingly, from the Surrounding Forrest.

The Hooting o the Owls, didnae Bother me at awe..

Even, the Sounds of the Grunts.. wiznae Too Scary..

    But.. Thon Heavy Breathing?

Well..Ah kin tell you.. THAT WIZ DOWNRIGHT TERRYFYING.

Well.. it wiz.. until , we awe realized that ominous sound wiz coming fae oor wee Pal. Hughie. who wiz experiencing an Asthma Attack!

    Anyway..

tae get tae the end of MA tale..

We ,finally reached.. Fort William, in the wee Sma’ Hoors.

Ah figger, the journey took Longer than Captain Scott’s Famous Trek tae the South Pole…

    We took aboot. Fourteen Hoors..

Noo the Funny thing is.. it says in awe the Official Handbooks that the distance frae Kinlochleven tae Fort William.. is only

    Approx. Fifteen Miles!

    Say whit??

Mebbe ,as the crow flies.. but. those Handbooks are Way, Way off..

Of Course.. Mebbe.. they should have Said..

    Fifteen .”COUNTRY MILES”…

as Ma Mammie Told me , when Ah recounted oor Miserable walking Adventure in the Highlands..to her..much later..

“Son, everybuddy knows…that Country Folk.. use “Country Miles”.. as a Reference.. and a “Country Mile” checks out at

    Fourteen Point five.. City Miles.”

And . Ah believed every woid o’ that.

    Anyway…

    Noo the Question…

Do you know Whit Wiz the Name of The English General who built that Military Road.. fae.. Kinlochleven tae Fort William?”

Ah canny remember.. the Name of the General , that the Gentleman farmer..said it wiz…

and Ah hiv bin curious ever since…

    Kojo.

Yer pal.. who likes ye aloater.

  4. Just see tommy the taxi drivers so called info on the ebt tax case.

Read it the first time and thought could be legit with some mistakes .

So read it again and though what a crock a poo.

1 wee bit that stands out

Total tax bill £19.5million over 8 -10years or 3-5years,still to be decided.

If this was all going to happen it would all have to be as a whole package and HMRC do not do pay as you go.

What info has he flagged up prior ?

    Hee haw.

If the rtc blog or phil mac have no info before some wee blog post that has the Huns saved and a £134 bill sorted.

Duff and duffer have been there 8 weeks and are running at a loss and the clock is ticking down.

When that ebt verdict is delivered it will be the talk of the uk in hours no matter which way it goes .

Since I’m inexplicably feeling more coherent, a thought re you & Edward: I know that some Catholics have hated Jews (etc.) – I’m not going to apologise for that, tho’ I loath it, because I wasn’t responsible (but regret it, yes). Why shouldn’t he take the same attitude to his team?

  7. Praecepta,

    I will explain best i can,Kuchar was in a 4 way tie for 3,4,5 and 6 places,

so if your place terms cover the first 5 then the bet settles on

3 of the 4 places,so you get 3/4 of the full place return, you should receive

£34.69 for a fiver each way,or£69.37 for a tenner each way,

i have worked for the bookies for 20 odd years, settling bets is my only talent ;-))

  9. TET

I like you and I still think you’re wrong about Edward.

My post to Kilbowie Kelt earlier was about how strong are the early chains that bind us and how difficult it is to break them, even if we can locate them and understand them

We all like to think that, if we had been reared as unthinking youngsters as Rangers fans, we would have had the good sense to rebel growing up. We’d all like to think we’d be brave in a righteous war too but I was never tested so I will never know. Celtic never gave me cause to consider chucking them so I don’t know if I could have done so.

What if Celtic had actually covered up child abuse instead of being confused and inappropriate in their response? Would you be so ashamed as to chuck them?

What if Celtic’s Board had refused Jock Stein’s requests because he was a non-Catholic? Would that be enough to make you quit your support for the club?

What if it turns out Celtic have had some dodgy tax avoidance issues? Would we call down the same sanctions on ourselves?

What would it take to break these chains that bind?

I’d like to think I’d be even handed but I strongly suspect I would rationalise a way to make me less guilty while still opposing what I know to be wrong.

The chains that bound Edward U to rangers were forged early in life and it would involve lots of betrayal to go back on them. At the risk of invoking Godwin’s Law, many Germans found ways to lead good lives having been caught up in the Nazi madness. Some of the ex-Nazi youth like Gunter Grasse and Josef Ratzinger led better lives than some of the Baader-Meinhof hedonists who rebelled so ostentatiously against their father’s sins.

There are enough unapologetic rangers fans out there who need to be opposed without getting too het up about the better examples of Rangers fan out there. Archie McPherson, Graham Speirs & even Andy Cameron get a bye from me, for what that’s worth. Leggate, Dingwall and Super Sammy are the type of hun for whom I’ll reserve my opposition

  12. Kojo @ 23.31,

Since I’ve been accused (by a crackpot) of supporting you in rascism, I ‘ve nothing to lose by replying.

The general about whom you ask was General Wade (if you’d seen this road before it was made, you’d lift up your eyes & thank General Wade – not original). You’ll be aware that Kinlochleven is around 80 miles from Inverness – & even here it can be difficult to get a DECENT bite to eat.

Off to bed before I start laughing.

Are you not proud of your Polish blood ?

I am not a Catholic, I was born in Scotland, I was brought up by parents who had no hatred toward any other human being, my sins are I support what is percieved to be an Irish Catholic club, and for that I have had untold hatred and violence come my way for my troubles.

If you disagree with my post fair enough, I will not take back what I said, and will make no apologie for it, it’s the way I feel, again I will say I do NOT hate, the hate comes from the other side.

There is also much hate coming my way on the blog tonight, that is from Celtic supporters, just cos I said something that goes against the grain.

The self same |Celtic supporters who are at pains to tell the world how inclusive they are.

Well the blog has shown me how inclusive they are tonight, to take the side of the hun over a Tim who’s family has suffered big time at the hand of the hun.

A few other poster all think the Huns are going to escape from this administration. RTC and phil mac have spoken to various legal people and everyone of them have more or less said liquidation.Unless the business gets a massive injection of cash.

Not 1 person has given the Huns an escape route unless the cash is put up .

Just ask the old Celtic board how easy it was to get a cash injection when you are on the brink.

As for the gut feeling ,yeah they had the refs and sfa to assist them but when it’s hard cash required even the 300000 Huns and there worldwide support have given £300000.
