Determined by Dundee

364

It will be 4 May before action resumes at Celtic Park, by then we will know if we have reached the Scottish Cup Final and positions at the top of the table will be significantly determined by Dundee.  I’m pleased our manager has not spent the best part of two weeks throwing material to be pinned to the dressing room door their way.  Maybe Brendan is too experienced to do this?  Maybe he’s just not over-anxious.

We have scored 13 goals in three games against Dundee this season, conceding only once (when we were seven goals ahead), so Brendan Rodgers will have no complaints that the post-split fixtures send us away there, instead of another trip to St Mirren, which was the alternative.

It is also good to get this game out of the way first, leaving us with three games at home from the final four.  All will be difficult, but the incentive is a huge motivation.

  1. Hope the pitch is still heavy, Dundee dont have a game for another two weeks, but their opponents tonight do. If it is, wonder if the ref will be so keen to add ten minutes to each half to guarantee the win. Easier to send a Dundee player off early doors (a la Tynecastle) or award a penalty or two. Main thing is to take something out them, one way or another. Free hit for Dundee, might not benefit them, might help Hearts though, if they were up for it that is. One bad result at a time though….

I’ve got more chance of winning the lottery than Dundee have against the hun. Penalty and red card bingo by the Silvery Tay.

  3. The Blogger,

“A place in Europe is just icing on the cake for Dundee”As if that’s enough, don’t care about tonight.

A while since I heard such a ridiculous comment on here. The sheer audacity of that statement should be on the pages of FF.The world does not revolve around Celtic, other clubs are entitled to their hopes and dreams. To just discard them is Hun like in every way.

Having played football at a good level,I have never went out to play, not wanting to give my best, like every footballer I have ever known, and played with.Everyone wants to be better. If you think different you know nothing about football.

Honestly, sometimes, this place does my head in.

  4. I think Luis Palma will have a great effect on our bid to win this league.I have no qualms about nailing my colours to the mast.No hindsight.

I was a very good footballer when I was younger. Fast, direct and a great left foot. Only problem was the ball. Taking the ball with me was helluva difficult.

Happy birthday Phil. If I’ve missed it, too bad, never liked you anyway. If it’s tomorrow, all the best ya Bo’ness Bampot. 😂

  7. I really hope that we don’t need Hearts to take something from The Darnel in the last league fixture of the season .

Especially if they beat The Darnel on Sunday in the SC semi – final .

The wee Huns will field a weakened side ,and I can’t see Shankland trying a leg against a team that he supports and may have hopes to join in the summer transfer window .

Let’s hope that we have it won before then .

I expect a win for The Darnel tonight ,as I did at Dingwall last Sunday .

  8. Tinytim..don’t worry huns v diets…..diets won’t win either ….if I had a choice I’d want them to win on Sunday and us to take care of our business.

Do people really believe that Craig Gordon, Atkinson, Kent, Rowles, Cochrane, Baningame, Devlin, Oda, Grant etc. are just going to roll over on Sunday because it’s the famous Glasgow Huns. I doubt very much any of them have sympathetic leanings towards their west coast cousins…

  10. Weebobbycollins on

Even Shankland and Barry McKay…they would give up the opportunity to play in a cup final because they are Rangers supporters?

    Hmmm!

  11. The Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park… hoping there will be many puns about the stadium name tomorrow morning. Good luck Dundee.

    I agree,

Apart from the occasional — the VERY occasional — game where strange situations are in place, I believe professional footballers ( and amateurs) will always give of their best.

  13. Weebobbycollins.

I think Hearts will give their all in the semi.

It’s the last league game of the season that concerns me .

    As do I .

But I still remember Jimmy Calderwoods Dunfermline not looking that motivated to beat The Darnel on the last day title decider after Seville .

TinyTim…almost all Hearts players are non-Scots and will have no leanings towards the hun.

  16. Dundee started off very sharp, with several attacks and a shot inches wide of the far post.

Of course I’m hard at work but just sayin’

    KICK-OFF

    Dundee 0-0 Rangers

“It’s about how you react,” Rangers boss Philippe Clement says.

Let’s see what his team have got.

    CLOSE!

    Dundee 0-0 Rangers

Oh my, Dundee were a couple of inches from taking the lead there.

Amadou Bakayoko is played in behind James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.

His cross finds Malachi Boateng to the right of the penalty spot, and his low shot just goes past Jack Butland’s far post.

    A let off for Rangers.

  19. ‘Nearly a terrible start for Rangers’

    Dundee 0-0 Rangers

    Craig Levein

St Johnstone manager on BBC Sportsound

I genuinely thought that was going to nestle in the bottom corner from where we are sitting.

What a terrible start that could’ve been for Rangers!

    Dundee 0-0 Rangers

Now Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron gets to the by-line and cuts the ball back along the six-yard box, but it doesn’t fall for a team-mate.

The hosts are right up for this one.

    Dundee 0-0 Rangers

A Dundee long throw finds Jordan McGhee in the Rangers box, but his attempted header hits off his back and goes straight through to goalkeeper Jack Butland.

    Rangers are still asleep

  22. Won’t be posting anymore of those. Just to highlight the good start from Dundee.

See their captain has just gone off injured. Have you ever seen a luckier team than Sevco? Even in Europe, they get huge amounts of luck and good fortune.

    Intae thum Dundee! 😃👍

    For Dundee? 😳🤷🏼‍♂️😃

  24. I don’t know who is on VAR, but Dundee were denied a blatant penalty. Now they have a goal ruled out for offside.

    Huns are very nervy
