Direction of travel encouraging for Scottish football

759

It’s heartening to see Celtic linked with a raft of players over the weekend and encouraging for many but I’d ignore everything you read about a Celtic target this far out from the transfer window opening.  All an agent needs to do is post a DVD to Lennoxtown to be able to legitimately link his player to Celtic.  The club will also scout up to 100 players a season, enough to keep you busy on the stats sites for hours, but even Ronny doesn’t know who he will be signing at this stage of the season.

After 11 wins in 13 league games Aberdeen’s title challenge inevitably slipped.  They’ve won once since February, coming from behind against Motherwell at Pittodrie, as Celtic, Dundee and Partick Thistle have taken points from them.  We are at the stage of the season when injuries, suspensions and fatigue kick in.  Whereas Celtic were able to add quality to their squad in January, Aberdeen have to work on a tighter budget.  That the gap at the top is only seven points, with Celtic having a game in hand, says a lot for the direction of travel at Aberdeen.

If Ronny gets his treble wish, this season’s title will be a lot tighter than the last treble, won at a canter by Martin O’Neill.  It was a weaker league back then, Aberdeen were rubbish.

Talking about direction of travel, have you been watching the ebay auction for Hospitality for four for a day at this year’s Open Golf Championship at St Andrews?  This is a unique prize and has attracted some incredible support.

The auction is in aid of the Celtic Quick News appeal to build a fourth school kitchen in Malawi for Mary’s Meals.  Shuttle transport for the five minute journey to and from the golf course as needed, with beer, Gin and Whisky tastings throughout the day with the master distiller.

You also have the chance to create a unique CQN single malt whisky cask worth potentially £5000 for future CQN charities, and you will receive a bottle of this very special single malt whisky to commemorate the great day when it is bottled in several years.

Eden Mill is Scotland’s newest and most innovative distillery and brewery incorporated in February 2012!  Located just 2 miles from the famous Old Course itself it provides a perfect base for hospitality for yourself and 3 friends on a day of your choosing at the forthcoming open golf championship on July 16th to 19th.

But this is so much more than just a day’s hospitality at the home of golf.  Before taking to the course to watch, you will enjoy a breakfast roll or two and discuss your perfect single malt whisky with the master distiller.

Whilst you and your friends are enjoying the golf he will seek to surpass your favourite whisky by using the best barley to create the right wash and recommending the right type of barrels for our very own unique CQN 1/4 cask of single malt.  A cask which will mature and provide over £5000 of future funding for our charities in a few years’ time.

You will return to the distillery by shuttle bus for lunch and an optional beer tasting and then for afternoon tea with a tutored gin and whisky tasting with the owner capping off a memorable, unique and very special day for your group and for CQN.

My thanks to Eden Mill for their incredible support.  You can bid on the auction here.

I think that GlibandShameless has just revealed at least one line of argument that his brief used at court.

“You can’t ban me if you haven’t banned them. So what are you going to do about it?”

Oh dear Mr Regan, what a tangled web you weave when you make up the rules as you go along. You cannot relax at all. Never mind you can play at being a trendy teenager with a hormonal imbalance when you next tweet to the paying customers in your arrogant Teflon manner.

James Best who played Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane has died, aged 88.

He lived in Hickory, NC, about 40 minutes from here.

I think his “Doh” (when he was thwarted by the Dukes) was the inspiration for Matt Groening’s creation Homer Simpson to cry out in an identical way.

Is it still the case that you can get away with anything in the USA as long as you beat the sherriff to the county line?

  9. Correct except for defrauding the tax man, Federal offence, so State lines are neutralized.

GlibandShameless would be dealing with Elliot Ness.

Sorry. Read you wrong. Shame Tom has not realised his early potential though.

  14. Hi CQN’ers. This here is my first post. I’ve always tuned into the blog over the years, and sure, some of the regular posters know me. Please bare with the typos that may occur, as I have been moved to post tonight and unfortunately for me it’s on my phone.

I’ll kick off by saying I have been impressed with the posts over the last fortnight. Some really good comment on the game and it’s periphery, and it has kept me Gaun (inductions are murder Eh?). Been heartwarming also to see the tributes for folk I don’t know but held in high regard here. Of course and Turnbull Hutton. Never my favourite person but fair play to him for standing up to his Bretheren.

I’ll get to the crux of my reason for posting.

By the way. Scroll past if that’s your want, but I’m with Kevjungle and Neganon2.

Today we seen the much expected confirmation that the coronation of the Lying King is all fine and dandy. Some of Timdom might have foreseen a different outcome. I certainly didn’t.

After 21 years with a season ticket, last summer I decided tae chuck it. There was a number of reasons, and don’t get me wrong, I’ve still went on a good few away trips this season.

After the LNS whitewash I was all for chuckin it then. The thing is. I have a young son and I wanted him to go tae the Fitbaw and enjoy the times I did following the Celtic. I didn’t know then I was getting shafted by David Murrays overdraft and Id be paying for it in my late 30’s.

Most galling is of course the most controversial point. CELTIC.

What exactly are we paying into?

Zionist Tory Lords . . Celtic Tiger billionaire . . Banned for a painting of Bobby Sands? (Ban Was Overturned, Another Scandalous Episode)

After months of every weekend gutted that I’m no at the fitbaw, today, reading here and chatting to others Im happy with my decision. I hope I’ll be back wan day but who knows.

It’s not Celtic as I know it, but I love them and always will.

    Back to lurking

    Peace out

    God Bless Our Pope

It is. Id like to see him loaned out for few months ..championship or one of the lower leagues in england.

Give him a proper run of games and see if he can make it and also put him in shop window.

  16. Missed loads Ah stuff there.

Point is. The huns got away with it.

    We all know it.

  17. Herbo:

very bold of you to come out of the closet and declare yourself a disenfranchised dissident and although you may no walk with the masses you most certainly do not walk alone.

Re the huns and their sentinels… stigma and shame are twined Timmy aliens to them.

But even if the world does not appreciate what they did and were allowed to do and were officially embraced for doing… we know and so does the rest of Scotland too.

Good luck and be brave and true with your convictions.

  18. Herbo

Very true and our board are far from perfect…they certainly lack the dangly bits.

Its a tough situation giving up your team because of the board. Id find it extremely difficult to be honest if i was in scotland living.

Board members will come and go.. your celtic memories will stay with you and hopefully their is some good times ahead.

Huns will never go away..best we can hope for is growing massive gap between us and them .

Iv no doubt our board are happy with a poor huns team…but i also fully believe they want a huns team in the spl for money reasons.

Lots of us want them dead and buried… we all thought our board were playing it well saying nothing while events unfolded. Then the silence just got embaressing.

    God bless the tic

I’m no trying to be bold or anything like that. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

I was pissed right off earlier. I’m a chef, so I was just in from work. I had spent part of the evening with a few hunballs in my earshot. I needed a let out and the missus is in her bed, so CQN got it :-)

  21. I’m glad someone noticed.

That was my nod to the most intellectual of sights where the leather belts gather. :-)
