SPFL chief executive, Neil Doncaster, is clear on the subject of offensive singing at football games: “It remains the SPFL’s position that if it can be established that clubs have done everything required in overall management of the event pre-match, during the game and post-match then they have no case to answer”.
This may be the case, but if clubs fail to communicate appropriate instructions to fans after one transgression, which is quickly followed by a second transgression, Doncaster’s defence is moot. The club has failed to do “everything required” pre-match and post-match, and is guilty under the rules, if applied.
Doncaster has employed a rhetorical technique. When faced with a difficult scenario, make a statement which is in itself true, but the parameters of which do not match the scenario.
The chief executive of the Scottish Professional Football League’s comments this morning appear like an attempt to protect a member club from the League’s own rules. He is paid to ensure rules are applied, not negated.
It is no business of his to defer responsibility to the police, or the Justice Ministry, which concocted this inept Offensive Behaviour Act in order to “equalise” criminality, where it didn’t exist, but will not lift a finger on this issue.
What do you know about Andy McAtee? He signed for Celtic from Mossend Hibs in 1910 and left in 1924, having played 438 games on the right wing, scoring 75 goals. He won six league titles and four Scottish Cups and was one of the earliest Celtic heroes. During the Great War he fought in the Alps, and in Haig’s bloody field in the Somme.
When he, and other members of our first genuinely great team, retired, Celtic found it impossible to replace them. We didn’t win another six titles until Inter manager, Helenio Herrera, watched our title win in May 1967.
The Celtic Graves Society mark his final resting place at Kilsyth Cemetery (G5 0TA) at 12:00 on Saturday 28 February. After a graveside blessing, there will be a Q&A with Jim Craig, Tom Boyd and Pat McCluskey, at The Curling Stone pub, High Craigends, Kilsyth. If you can make it along and support the great work of the Society, get there.

Is Man city back in the game, or just fired up Barca?
001 bhoy
That footage of celtic playing in dalymount brought back some memories, I wasn’t there for that game in 1924 but I grew up very near dalymount and was always there as a kid, seen celtic play shamrock rover’s there in 1967. They brought the big cup with them and did a lap of honour with it 2 2 draw. Saw Pele play there in a friendly for his club Santos, saw Ruud Gullit make his debut for Holland there one night, they came back from 2 down to beat the Republic 3 2. Saw bob marley play there also
Great ball from Messi, but Suarez offside.
Well, surprise, surprise ….. The SPFL seem to be of a mind to ignore the ongoing anti- Irish bigotry from the knuckle-dragging sevco hordes….and, I’ll say it again, some CELTIC Supporters want the bhun infestation of Scottish Football to return ……thoroughly gobsmacked to forehead….. Will NEVER understand THAT one !!!!!!
The reason that nothing has been done about sectarianism/bigotry/racism is that our supporters have failed to give them enough rope to hang us with.
For the pedants …… to give them enough rope with which to hang us.
clichy off for city
Hoping to go to Malta for the first time in September.Would appreciate any tips on what area to stay would prefer somewhere quiet.Hotel or apartment and any other tips. Thanks in advance.
Clichy off. Second yellow.
Pity, was shaping up to be a great last 15 mins.
++++++Last Man Standing 3 – week 7 results
Good evening fholks
Last Man Standing 3 was halved to 2 survivors, with the following unlucky bhoys crashing out…
Sponsored by Cheetah Chelsea
Sebo Celt Inverness
So with an initial entry field of 99 teams we are now down to the last 2 who qualified this week picking the following teams
Martybhoy59 Aberdeen
GG Celtic
So hopefully there will be a winner very soon, remembering if both teams lose at the same time then the prize money will automatically default into LMS4 prize money, the final LMS competition of the season.
No pressure then, Bhoys,

Collymore is a very obvious and topical example
There is no interest in bringing Sevco to book for the behaviour of their supporters

How goes the battle?
Not surprised by that at all …. I seem to recall some stats from a few years ago that showed there were more marches (3/4 of which were OO marches) in Glasgow than in belfast and derry combined.
Yet, suggest a St.Patrick’s day parade and its a sign of the apocolypse …
Praecepta, David Silva would also get in the Barca team.
Both would be a great fit for Barca. Silva could do a similar job to the fabulous Iniesta.
Man City seem to have a mental block when it comes to playing in Europe …. seem to lack confidence, and dig themselves a hole… then when they start to dig themselves out (and they have good enough players to compete at the top level), they find a way to shoot themselves in the foot.
Have to ask if Pellegrini is the guy to lead them…. seems too laid back.
I hear that Simeone has been offered a new contract at AM, but, if I were Man City, I would roll out the red carpet for him… think he has the attitude that City is missing.
*** LAST MAN STANDING 3 – THE FINAL……POSSIBLY ***
So, we now have a final showdown between those 2 gunslingers, names MARTYBHOY59 and GG. Well done to both of you for getting this far.
The week 8 fixtures are below and the usual rules apply.
There are 5 teams that neither of you can now choose – Aberdeen , Celtic, Chelsea, Dundee United and Manchester United.
Good luck with what may be your final selection.

I have no problem with the hun songs. I prefer up front in my face bigotry rather than two faced behind my back biggotry.
When the Huns stop singing their bile I want it to be because they have realised the error of their ways not because they want to keep it hidden.
Also I would love the Green Brigade to drop ‘Build a Bonfire’ from our repertoire,
whilst we sing about burning people we can hardly point the finger at the Billy Boys.

I agree.
I just felt that if ever this board would have spoke out it would have been after the LC semi. New club etc, lower division, first time meeting them but no we say nothing. Tells you everything. A friend of mine who went and whom I trust said it was worse than ever before. He was amazed that Celtic never made a statement about the joint statements. We are first and foremost Old Firm under this present board. Whixh makes supporting Celtic difficult never mind the board.

Ha!
I’ve been found out after all this time.
DD
Agree – but David S a bit lightweight (over 90mins). Doubt he would get the shout for one of the; LM/AS/N or AI positions.
Like him and from what I hear he is a nice guy and total professional.
Exquisite Messi chip to finish, but flag goes up.
the onlooker,
You’re having a laugh, until they ban the polyester wearing huns marching through our streets, it will always be there.
Penalty for Barça!
Going nowhere – reckless!
BT -me no understandy?

Checking the fixture list for after the Dundee Utd trilogy so that I can plan my work trips around it and see we have Partick Thistle at home on Wednesday 3rd of April.
So is that 3 home fixtures all on Wednesday evenings for the Glasgow derby this season?
Messi buzzes around, into box, penalty.
Has never given them a minute’s peace all night.
Misses, and heads rebound wide
Diddy!
Missed, twice!
Evening all
I find it sad that in a week in which Celtic are set to play two massive games with several more to come that so much on here is devoted to the aftermath of a match played on Friday night in Kirkcaldy
I should add that I have every sympathy with the bulk of the comments I have read on the topic. When Doncaster and Regan were appointed I naively thought that two people from England would be above the petty bigotry that permeates the governing bodies of the game in Scotland. Instead they are every bit as crass as George Graham, Willie Allan and Jim Farry ever were. Todays comments by Doncaster almost beggar belief even if they were dismally predictable. A lazy, cowardly, dishonest sphincter of a man
I do not know if there is much we – supporters or club- can do on this. I know that many will blame our board on this and make assumptions about what happened in the summer of 2012 but I do not know any of these assumptins to be a fact. On this latest disgrace by this country’s biggest embarrassment- a symbol for everything backward thinking, nasty and stupid about our country- we could be treading on very thin ice should this be the time when our club’s leaders choose this moment to actually say something that might reflect the absolute disgust many ( Celts and non Celts) feel about Friday and its aftermath as the backlash against our own supporters and on the reputation of our club could be fierce. But sitting about doing nothing no longer feels like an option.
Absolutely dismayed

Sipsini I think your missing my point.
They are not bigots because they march
They march because they they are bigots
What a bad header from Messi.
That Messi – pish with the head from 6 yards…
Messi hopeless – can’t head a ball for toffee! :-)
