It’s a well-established fact that we don’t have Beckenbauer and Baresi at the back, so the reason why we chose to play so high up the field is the most alarming element of last night’s debacle.
Dedryck was bound to misplace a pass, or Efe was bound to misread play. We all knew this. Regret over the last time mistakes like this were made doesn’t mean they won’t happen again. So when the inevitable occurred, our two full backs were 30 yards in front of the line of opposition attack, with our defensive mids well into opposition territory.
Efe’s failure to cover Kamara and Dedryck’s pass were consequences of the main mistake of the night, which was tactical. We didn’t lose the opening goal because of a bad pass, it was lost because we left an acre of Norway unattended.
Ronny, you should never have left so much space at the back away from home in Europe, we’re clearly not good enough for such an open system, not even close. We’ve learned nothing since what was supposed to be a lesson in Warsaw, when the same expansive errors cost us. Molde played rope-a-dope football, they could have watched us against Malmo, Maribor and Legia, as each opened their home games against us in exactly the same manner.
It must be an absolute joy to face a European opponent at home who leaves so much space at the back, begging to be exploited. If we had played with the same tactics we used in Amsterdam I’ve no doubt we would have won the game – no one in that Molde squad would get into the Celtic team.
There’s more. After dominating possession and creating genuine chances, the defeat looked inevitable from the 11th minute when we went behind. Body language changed in an instant and Celtic went out like a light. I’ll spare you what I said at the time in case it’s misconstrued, but the evidence suggests there’s more to worry about than repeating the same tactical mistakes.
Celtic have nine months and one and a half transfer windows to get ready for the next Champions League qualifiers. There’s plenty of time to put things right, but we can’t sleepwalk into another failure. More immediately, we could be out of a cup if we don’t pull our act together this week.

Here’s a wee prediction for midweek. To add pressure at a vulnerable time we are likely to see a belter of a refereeing performance in our league cup game. I’m guessing we will have a sending off fairly early to give Hearts a chance. If we win there the SFA will have little chance of stopping a cup win.

Like yourself they only want what is best for Celtic and if they, myself included are angry about an inept performance by an inept management and board, they have a right to air their views, as you have.

Whilst I agree we are like a Ship sailing without a Captain I agree with the sentiments in that post. It does my head in when I sit and listen to some of the bile spouted at the Team during games. Time and place for criticism and discussion.
In my opinion we have not progressed under Ronny, certainly not in reaching the next level, if anything we have gone back the way.
He has no plan B and certainly does not have the quality to play the game as he sees it; this is frightening as by and large the Players that are playing are his. We have been screaming out for a Striker, Left Back for God knows how long. And why oh why does he continue with one up front. Why he has signed Carlton Cole for two and a half years is beyond me. Cole will never start a game for two reasons, Ronny does not play two up front and he will never play the long Ball game.
Sorry to say but the Taxi is at the Door with the Meter running. Yes Ronny will probably win domestic Trophies but he neither has the tactical ability or quality of Player to play the European way.
In my opinion our Board/Club have no vision, no appetite to move to the next level. All we are interested in is the Bank balance. However, I am not saying we need to spend millions or live out with our means but something has to change or there will be an empty Stadium. We need to get back to basics and dispense with the Student of the game. I have said it before and will say it again, we are living on our history, 67 and nine in a row. We should be repeating that history regularly not once in a lifetime.
I will always support Celtic but things have to change, Ronny’s philosophy and tactics are not working. We need a blend of young exciting Players mixed with some experienced ones. Not full of young Scottish Players.
I will stop from criticising individual Player as we all have our opinions who is worthy but the buck stops with Ronny.

It’s the job of CEO or Chairman to state whether what he asserts is true or not. Either way it needs to be made clear. A journalist made that kind of assertion about any publicly listed company needs to be very certain that what they say is accurate.
