Doubt remains until we hear the words Prima Facie

1323

Neil Doncaster has uttered the words “Prima Facie” more often than any other figure in public life since February when Celtic Quick News first asked if Rangers EBT payments were declared to the football authorities, almost always after the words “we don’t know if there is a”.  While we are all assuming the SPL have now established Rangers have a case to answer for illegally registering footballers for over a decade, it’s important to hear the words.

Rangers refused to submit information to the SPL for three months and only did so under the duress of a deadline, but we don’t know what they have submitted.  I have been concerned that Rangers would simply try to brass the entire episode out, submit the contracts the SFA and SPL already had, and deny having any record of side agreements.

Consider the clubs modus operandi in recent months and years.  Sir David Murray provided cover in March, categorically denying side contracts existed, while the current men in charge have been too busy to spare much time researching the issue.  A response of “We don’t have any information” would not have surprised me.  Rangers submitting full information – including details on the side letters which exist but which the BBC do not have – would surprise me.

The SPL should have realised months ago they would get nothing from Rangers without a deadline but they are in awkward position if the answer from the club is not what is expected.  It’s far from clear that they can take evidence from the BBC and may require information from the First Tier Tribunal verdict to substantiate what everyone knows.  The verdict is unlikely to confirm any names.

Until Mr Doncaster says “Prima Facie evidence exists” we should not assume this episode is on track to be dealt with.

I was at a party last week, and got talking to a good chap, who was also a frequent reader on CQN like myself.

    “Great site” says he.

“Aye”, says I, “I don’t go on as much now, as I used to, because there are too many bigots allowed free reign on CQN for my liking”.

He stuttered and stammered and said, ” This isnt FF or RM, how can you possibly say there are too many bigots allowed free reign on CQN!!!!!!!!!”

“Well”, says I, “Kojo is a bigot, and he is fawned over by the majority on CQN, including the host. And Kojo is a bigot”

“Well”, says my new chum, “that is only 1 poster”

“Correct”, says I, “And one bigot is one too many”

Time for a wee break from this site I think. Too many bigots.

  10. I tried posting a few days ago but the site didnt let me, so this is for the poster that was looking for Bayern tickets and hopefully he’ll read back.

A group of us were in Munich January this year, we got tickets last minute no problem from the viagogo website (just google viagogo and fc Bayern), picked the tickets up at the stadium and watched the game from behind the goals. There were a few tickets being sold outside the ground but maybe a risk if there’s a lot of you going.

A few had said on here that it’s impossible to get tickets but it was a doddle for us and the ground was full so you should be fine.

Great place Munich, would recommend it to anyone. Great people and beer (horrible food).

I think that it is both wrong, and insulting to claim that the conditions faced by Irish immigrants, during the 1800’s,in places like the slums of the Five Points district of New York are even remotely similar…to the relative Valhalla,in comparison that today’s immigrants to both Britain and Ireland reside in.

  12. Bhoys, Paul67 has rules on CQN. Now my language is probably as bad as anyone on here but please remember that many of the posters allow their children to read these pages.

Low Life by Luc Sante is both the original, and the definitive book written about those slums in New York.

  20. I agree…..through anger my language tonight has been atrocious……and to those who it was directed to…..I do not apologise…..but for all my profanities I do not think they were as bad as calling someone a racist….by whatever means….who does not deserve it….

No its a new book,(gods of gotham)

Yes it has it similarities to Gangs of New York (which was a dreadful movie in my opinion) the book written back in the 1890s ( i think wasnt bad)

The Banished Children of Eve by Peter Quinn is probably the best book I read about irish immigration in New York (covers the period around American Civil War/Draft Riots etc)
