Doubt remains until we hear the words Prima Facie

1323

Neil Doncaster has uttered the words “Prima Facie” more often than any other figure in public life since February when Celtic Quick News first asked if Rangers EBT payments were declared to the football authorities, almost always after the words “we don’t know if there is a”.  While we are all assuming the SPL have now established Rangers have a case to answer for illegally registering footballers for over a decade, it’s important to hear the words.

Rangers refused to submit information to the SPL for three months and only did so under the duress of a deadline, but we don’t know what they have submitted.  I have been concerned that Rangers would simply try to brass the entire episode out, submit the contracts the SFA and SPL already had, and deny having any record of side agreements.

Consider the clubs modus operandi in recent months and years.  Sir David Murray provided cover in March, categorically denying side contracts existed, while the current men in charge have been too busy to spare much time researching the issue.  A response of “We don’t have any information” would not have surprised me.  Rangers submitting full information – including details on the side letters which exist but which the BBC do not have – would surprise me.

The SPL should have realised months ago they would get nothing from Rangers without a deadline but they are in awkward position if the answer from the club is not what is expected.  It’s far from clear that they can take evidence from the BBC and may require information from the First Tier Tribunal verdict to substantiate what everyone knows.  The verdict is unlikely to confirm any names.

Until Mr Doncaster says “Prima Facie evidence exists” we should not assume this episode is on track to be dealt with.

Also see latest rule change for them ..45 minutes a game. Only fair for the under 18s

This lunchtime, Rangers’ first pre-season friendlies have been confirmed, in the Markus Liebherr – the late owner of the hosts – Memorial Cup, hosted by Southampton.

On Saturday July 14th, Rangers will play hosts Southampton and Arsenal, in a fun filled day of football, at St. Mary’s Stadium.

This pre season tournament, is unlike most others, in that the teams will play in high-tempo round-robin matches against each other, with matches lasting forty-five minutes.

  5. The first Tim Buckley song to capture me was Buzzin’ Fly. Some critics have dismissed the song (I don’t agree) but they cannot dismiss the way he sings it.

I think the captain will off.

Interesting story heard about Whyte ending the EBT’s and that is why certain players had to get a huge wage increase and 5 year deals at the start of last season.

He then withheld PAYE and NI to pay it.

  8. Julian Lennon is highly talented…..it is extremely hard to get out of the shadow cast by his father. Quite often the way.

Nick(Roy’s boy)Harper is largely unknown though very very talented and he gives his music away free via download.Good guy. I’ve posted this before, but bear with me,it’s worth it. Just my opinion, though. Music is a very broad church.

You won’t be in the least surprised to hear that I was at that Knebworth Festival too – Google tells me it was on 9/9/78 and featured The Tubes, Frank Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Boomtown Rats, Rockpile & Wilko Johnson’s Solid Senders.

I also went on 21/8/76 – The Rolling Stones, 10cc, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia , Hot Tuna , Don Harrison Band.

  18. Good work Duff and Phelps. By the time the Southampton tourney comes around, the players (the ones left) will be on pay-as-you-play. Forty-five minute games – pay them half and play another XI in the next game.

Alternatively, good work Southampton. Invite a club that won’t exist by that time and so be awarded 3-0 victory when you’re due to play thems, thus helping you to victory in your own tourney.

No, I am not surprised in the least. I take it you had been stalking me since that Family concert in late September back in ’73 (oh, what a night).

On the day of Knebworth 1978, John Greig went to Celtic Park for the first time as the manager of the Managerless and lost by the margin of 3 goals to 1

July 14 means that the players on mega-wedge will have been paid for June and haven’t exercised their ‘GTF’ clause. It also means that RFC(ia) have managed to fund the insurance premiums for their prize assets.

This sounds more like a kiddy-on ranjurz team, full of players no-one has heard of, will participate in the fun day. Incidentally, good luck having fun at a stadium called ‘St Mary’s’ two days after the artificial fibre parades!
