On the road back to Edinburgh. Just scanned through Live Updates. If I’m not at a game I watch on TV. Looking at the negativity in the updates, I’m glad I never have to rely on CQN for live updates. Unbelievable level of moaning, even when we’re ahead.
It was the same in the second half v Rangers when we were 3-0 up and controlling the game.

Two disparate observations from me.
Hatate was looking more like the guy who got off the plane again – hooked to save him from himself and Beaton.
Mikey looked short of match sharpness (understandably) but more significantly; bereft of self confidence.
Sorry to see that. If he blooms one day, it won’t be in Paradise.
A below par performance, on a dodgy pitch. Yet we win 3-0 away from home.
So, mixed emotions. In a cup tie, the result is most important – and we won. Job done.
Yet, Ange will quite rightly assess the performance and see there is much work to be done – either in improving some of these players or in the upcoming transfer window. Probably both.
Beaton was poor. Incompetent rather than biased perhaps. Hatate gave him the perfect opportunity to be red carded…yet the ref resisted and only issued a yellow. If you see the replay in real time, you’ll see Juranovic (I think it was him) at the top if the screen – on the opposite wing – put both hands on his head immediately when he saw Hatate’s challenge. He too expected a red card.
If Beaton is anti-Celtic, why did he not take this opportunity, whereby the colour of the card was very debatable, to send off Hatate.
Yes, he made some decisions against us which I disagreed with; including allowing us an advantage after a bad foul – but did go back and rightly book the Utd player who commuted the foul.
The disallowed goal is a puzzler. The ref MUST know the change of rule/law that was brought in at the Sumer. Did Beaton rule that the hand ball was deliberate? I assume so. As that is the only reason to disallow the goal. Which, again, brings me back to competency (or lack of).

The linesman gave the goal it was the Beaton loyal who took it upon himself to re-write the rules. Cheating bassa.
There were tackles from Utd players that were just as bad as Hatates, yellow was the correct call. No cheating there from the Bellshill loyalist.
Are the post-split fixture dates set? As in, are they every weekend, or do we have a midweek league game after the split (which has often been the case previously)?
Is the final league match before or after the cup final (21st May)?
The last game before the split is 9th April. The following weekend is Cup Semi weekend. There are only 4 weekends between then and the Cup Final.
So either we have a midweek league game, post-split, or the league finishes after the cup final. Or have I missed something?

Beaton saw the handball and blew , just as he would have in the 80s.
Scottish refs can’t do the mental acrobatics to work out the over-complicated rules. The English ones can’t either but they rely on a VAR delay to sort it

With all due respect, I don’t recall any Utd player challenge that had me thinking “oh, that could be a red card”. Which tackles did you think were worse than Hatate’s?

I’m sure it was Starfelt who played a lovely ball to Maeda in the build up to the 2nd goal.

Early in the game, 3 Celtic subs went behind the goals for a warm-up to a chorus of Pedo-Pedo-Pedo from the United fans behind them.
I wonder if Beaton will apologise for his error? I won’t hold my breath. I reckon he’ll try to cover his misinterpretation of the rules by suggesting the handball was, in his opinion, deliberate; and therefore a foul.
I was confused, as many on here were (last week) commenting that we had no more midweek football this season. 🤷♂️

Loving the MIB excuse frenzy that is ongoing.
RH’s tackle was poor but not a red — his foot was on the ground when there was contact.
I did expect the MIB to show him a red but that would have just highlighted how forced / partial / slanted his decision would have been and invited comment about how MIB players are refereed to different standards.
He returned the favour with his unique interpretation of the handball rule.
And his continued refusal to yellow card various DU players for sleekit / dangerous fouls.
The GG yellow showed his snidery attitude in full.
I am not sure if the MIB help for the TFOD2.1 stopped at 22 games this season or their efforts in the first half of the season meant that the scrutiny levels were getting to high to continue the TFOD2.1 luv that the brothers naturally aspire too.
The stats imbalance was ridiculous and impossible to explain or justify so they had to reign it in a bit.

Dumping TR on his erse 5 seconds after he played the ball would be a good place to start.
The late tackle on CS at the end of the first half — not as bad looking as the RH tackle but caused a lot more damage.
The RH tackle looked bad but in terms of damage done — not in the Top 10 tonight.
DU started at 100mph and i thought we did well to stand up to it. The early goal was a killer for them and threw their game plan out of the window. For all their hustle they didn’t lay a glove on us, Joe Hart was redundant. Cal ran the show from minute 1, he is still so underrated, just absolute quality. You can bet all they DU players will be talking about how good he is. We were wasteful at times on the ball and in the final third particularly during or after the transition. Make no mistake guys like Kyogo would have run amok if afforded that space and time.

Your luck with away briefs this season interests me. Am I wrong to think you put on the blog, this season was your first travelling for a period of time?
