EDOUARD ITALIAN INTEREST? THAT’S RICH

THREE Italian sides have been linked with Odsonne Edouard, but have been put off by Celtic’s valuation, according to a report from Italy.

Lazio, who got a close-up view of the French striker in their recent back-to-back defeats in the Europa League Group E encounters, Napoli and Roma are the trio of Serie A cracks who have been impressed by the 21-year-old frontman, insists media source Napoli Online.

The outlet states several “top foreign clubs” are looking to prise him away from the eight-in-a-row champions, but can’t afford the asking fee, although the report fails to put a figure on the so-called asking price.

The Hoops are bracing themselves for interest in the in-form attacker during the January transfer window, but are hardly likely to welcome bids with a ninth successive title on their radar, plus the ambitions for an unprecedented quadruple of domestic honours and also the Europa League knock-out stages to look forward to in 2020.

Plus Edouard, who cost the club a record fee of just over £9million when he arrived on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, is Lennon’s only fit main hitman with Leigh Griffiths toiling to get up to speed following a thigh injury and a virus problem while Ivorian Vakoun Issouf Bayo will be out until at least the turn of the year.

The Celts ace has claimed 13 goals for the team in this campaign and has been in the international spotlight following 10 goals in five appearances for the French Under-21s.

He is under contract to the Parkhead side until June 2022.
