Efe and Izzie getting hard time on TV

754

I was slightly miffed at Neil Lennon’s TV comments on Efe Ambrose yesterday, “He can’t cross”, but on reflection, better Neil points out the player’s flaws to the nation than gives him a ringing endorsement.  I’d a similar sentiment after Emilio Izaguirre’s dangerous looking forward step against France, which was never in danger of making contact with an opponent, when an ever-unhelpful commentator assured us Izzie, “has that in his locker”.  Anyone who has watched him for four years will know he doesn’t.

Based purely on what’s been offered up on UK TV, neither player will be attracting an offer, which is good.

Both Honduras and Nigeria have a difficult task ahead if they are to remain in the tournament beyond the group stage.  Fraser Forster’s England also have it all to do.  It’s been great for the three of them to get to the World Cup but the sooner they’re home, uninjured, the better.

Did you not just slaughter Efe……………………………….

  2. Welcome back John.

Very much looking forward to what Ronny and John will do, how they’ll have the team set up, what approach they’ll take.

A new Chapter, loved the last one, looking forward to the next, C’ mon the Hoops.

  3. Back in the land of the living (scans/tests) and just heard the news.

Delighted that John Collins is now our No.2 – professional!

Watched the guy play – a technical player! Met the guy – talks sense!

Articulate, competent, tactically aware and a Celtic Mhan.

Will do for me – welcome aboard JC and H!H!

It will be very, very difficult to quality for the CL group stage this year.

With the early start, possibly against a team already at full fitness, and our WC players absent.

Add to that, a new management team, who, I think, will merely try an consolidate the style that the team are used to.

Throw in the Murrayfield factor and you have a whole bunch of banana skins lying in wait.

If, after all that, qualification for this year’s Groups will exceed any previous achievement.

This may be the year we miss out and build a new team for the following season.

    KTF time.

Don’t believe that. Commonwealth games will have left town the week before. First game will be at Celtic Park on 9th or more likely 10th August – with a kick off time to piss off anyone who lives outwith the Parkhead area.

It certainly is diappointing reading some of the negatonians, who criticise for the sake of trying to be controversial, and for no other reaso……bless the attention-seekers

Neymar, smashing player, but too selfish, ( and goes down too easily!)

    Hh

He was kicked and tripped all night. The only Brazilian player on the park that deserved to wear the jersey.Alves, waste of space, likewise,Hulk,Oscar,Fred,.Neymar very unlucky not to get a couple of goals.

  11. Welcome back John !

Seems a good appointment to me -the guy is a complete professional and a good role model for young players

Also knows his own mind and not afraid to speak it!

We need to get behind the new team and see how far it can take us

Now to weed out anyone who doesn’t fancy some hard work on and off the park!

I see you want a whisky to get you to sleep,

A pal came to my house today with a bag of drink,He asked if I fancied giving him a price for the booze that was in the bag, I asked what was in the bag, A bottle of Black Label,A bottle of Glenlivet.and a litre bottle of Glenfiddich, he was a friend of mine so I wanted to give him a fair price, I offered £60 for the three. He grabbed the cash.

    More drink for Saturday.

Good yin – months to get Celtic park ready but only need a week to tidy up and lay a new pitch

  14. Personally I think Joan Collins brings a lot to the table as assistant to Ronny.

Nope.I think Efe is a very good player.Great athlete, but never a top CH.He gets away with it the SPL,but not in Europe.Cant jump, like a CH should.

I have said before his best position could be in front of the back 4 pushing on,but even then,I really dont know where his best position is.

    Absolutely right.

Any idea that we’re downsizing, that our ambition is shrinking, is rubbish.

I’m glad we’ve got a new management team and have no doubt that it’s better than the old one who I now realise were rubbish all along.

And,despite the kicking and tripping, shoving, etc. he never hides. He has his faults, but someone actually accused him of being a coward the other night. 10 stone dripping wet if he’s lucky , but takes defenders on all the time. His header tonight was brave as well as technically excellent.

They need to find some way of supporting him properly up front, otherwise it’s going to be too big a burden on those young shoulders. It probably already is.

33 goals in 51 internationals at 22 let’s you know how good he is.

Heard one of the pundits tonight saying that 20 murders have been reported since Friday in one of the Brazilian cities.

Pretty high considering sevco didn’t lose at the weekend.

  19. There are certainly a few guys on here who are rarely happy unless they’re moaning about something.

However, in my opinion, they’re vastly outnumbered by those who just think everything connected with Celtic, from the tea lady to DD, is absolutely wonderful.

These posters often strike me as the sort who’ve never discussed Celtic on a supporters bus or in the pub and been confronted with a different opinion to their own.

Capello needs to restore his rep after carrying the can for England stinking out S. Africa in 2010.

Phil Neville just blamed Capello for never mastering the English language. Phil Neville makes Derek Ferguson sound like Peter Ustinov.
