Efe and Izzie getting hard time on TV

754

I was slightly miffed at Neil Lennon’s TV comments on Efe Ambrose yesterday, “He can’t cross”, but on reflection, better Neil points out the player’s flaws to the nation than gives him a ringing endorsement.  I’d a similar sentiment after Emilio Izaguirre’s dangerous looking forward step against France, which was never in danger of making contact with an opponent, when an ever-unhelpful commentator assured us Izzie, “has that in his locker”.  Anyone who has watched him for four years will know he doesn’t.

Based purely on what’s been offered up on UK TV, neither player will be attracting an offer, which is good.

Both Honduras and Nigeria have a difficult task ahead if they are to remain in the tournament beyond the group stage.  Fraser Forster’s England also have it all to do.  It’s been great for the three of them to get to the World Cup but the sooner they’re home, uninjured, the better.

Disgusted listening to you supposed Celtic fans.

    Welcome John Collins.

    Well said that man!

Watched the Brazil v Mexico game in deepest Mayo tonight. The Tall Poppy syndrome was prominent there too. This is the year of the anti-championees it seems.

  3. Thought England looked really good against Italy, especially their young guys. Gerrard (sadly) looked old, Rooney …..well ? Italians were much fitter and it showed in the last half hour. Thanks Big Jock for building a super fit Celtic for 1967.

    Good luck Ronny and JC

  5. Sorry went before finished – so far 14 Round 1 winners. Lowest % in previous 4 cups 75% therefore should expect at least 10 to go through. Now looking for odds and bets.

John Collins is a professional. He applied for the job, he got it. I like that. He is not an unaware person. He will accept being number 2

  7. Drambowiecel Oh well, this could be good win. On the other hand, who would guarantee Putin would not invade South Korea to get Ki if Russia had lost?.

I have questioned why the euphoria about Ronny (for me a bit of an unknown)

However I have never said he is not good and I will hold judgement on them both until they actually have some game time behind them. JC was one of my favourite Celtic players during a very had time for the club.

For me the CL qualification games will tell a lot

Domestically even 2 monkeys wearing celtic track suits and fitba boots could lead us to the title this year. It really should be that simple. Its all about Europe for me

Usual shambolic Russian defending. Were they to visualise 11 Napoleans or Hitlers in the opposition shirts, they would kick backsides. They don’t though. Don’t bet on them.

Just reading back.. Page 2 i think u mention something about tony watt interview .. Whats that about ?

Read few comments from him and seen twitter updates.. Seems he is really knuckling down. Delighted to see it, love him to save us millions and be great goalscorer.

  19. Good morning CQNers,

Best of luck to John Collins.

Soap box time I’m afraid –

The following statement is from a report produced by the respected Commonwealth Fund.

“The United Kingdom ranks first overall, scoring highest on quality, access and efficiency,” the fund’s researchers conclude in their 30-page report. Their findings amount to a huge endorsement of the health service, especially as it spends the second-lowest amount on healthcare among the 11 – just £2,008 per head, less than half the £5,017 in the US. Only New Zealand, with £1,876, spent less.”

It debunks those who would have us believe the NHS is a failing organisation and is a welcome piece of good news about the NHS.

There may be problems with the NHS as highlighted by the Francis inquiry but the crux of that matter was the balance was skewed by the administrators trying to balance staffing levels with efficiency savings. The administrators were prepared to let nursing care standards drop in order to meet financial targets.

This morning we hear the NHS faces a £2 Billion deficit over the next year yet the Dept. Of Health spokesman has stated the necessary saving will be met.

One can only conclude this government’s agenda is akin to that of the failed Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust who sacrificed quality to meet politically driven targets.

  20. Morning all.

This must be Scotland at its best. Wall to wall sunshine from first light. How often does this happen? Brilliant down here at the moment.

Things may be on their way to being brilliant at Celtic Park, imo. Just a feeling I have. Although I was prepared to have Neil Lennon as manager for life, if he chose, after the nonsense he has had to deal with for his love of Celtic, I am beginning to think we have won a prize in our new manager and his assistant.

Besides the fitness levels improving, hopefully our European “nous” will improve too.

Any news on the in-fighting in Govan??
