I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila. Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.
The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless. It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising. Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.
Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation. We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.
Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation. The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night. Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

Could imagine tensions would be high for that game.

He never went up the street without their knowledge. He just went out as usual.
He just didn’t tell them he was going to France. Quite right too if that’s what he wanted to do.
If he told them where he was going they’d have stopped him. He is clearly capable of doing what he did.

In my young days I worked in Erskine hospital and many of those guys (the boarders) came and went as they pleased, but they always had the safety net of nursing care when needed. They lived in a care home, but it wasn’t a prison.

I appreciate your point however in my experience most care homes are not run on the same basis as locked geriatric wards and if the residents are able enough they are more or less allowed to come and go as they please. With the proviso that they inform staff of their whereabouts
It would appear in this case the auld fella has been a bit economical with the truth and staff have notified police when he has failed to return
In a previous life on numerous occasions I have returned reported missing residents from care homes after they had failed to return by their curfew time after enjoying a few shandies in a local hostelry
Care homes are what they say on the label they are not locked down establishments

My mate Alan McLoughlin scored the goal that took us to the World Cup finals that night. Said the atmosphere was poisonous and just glad to get out in one piece. Elsewhere his goal resulted in tragic consequences for a number of innocent people.

I went to see my mum,91, & dad,90, yesterday, to thank them for D Day. My dad landed on Arromanches on 1944, he tells very few stories of then, as many do. They both re visited Arromanches around 15 yrs ago. My mum was telling me, yesterday, that the most disturbing thing of her visit was the graves. As she walked around & looked at them all, the oldest grave was that of a 22 year old. So sad.

I think we’re singing from the same hymn sheet. You’ve got more experience of dealing with the situation of residents going AWOL. I don’t think either of us believe that all elderly residents should be under lockdown. I can appreciate the anxiety of the staff, however. When I was a heidie, I worried myself to death if any of the pupils did a runner until they were accounted for.

emusorphan 23.28 Bloody Hell are you telling me the Rolex I bought in the Barras is a fake. A few mates of mine organised a sweep on the World Cup, 16 incl me put in E20 each, 32 teams in a hat, each person to draw 2 teams, winner takes all. Draw was tonight, I asked a wee lassie to draw my teams for me, she handed me back 2 slips Brazil & Argentina.
