Energising offensively

1455

I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila.  Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.

The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless.  It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising.  Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.

Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation.  We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.

Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation.  The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night.  Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

I just wonder if the auld veteran had made his way to anywhere else to celebrate with his former comrades those passing comment would be so judgemental and condemning

From experience thousands of elderly residents walk out of care homes every year and it has never attracted comment on here before

I can fully understand that the Care Home staff would have been wetting themselves and perhaps it was not one of Bernard Jordan’s (Tim name?) better ideas to not tell staff where he was going. Sadly, it will probably cause the other residents greater restrictions on their freedom in future. The staff will tighten up their security measures in future to avoid criticism.

  4. England will be lucky to escape this game with their team intact. Honduras are brutal…

Had the good fortune to engage with one of CQN’s finest today… Not much in the way of Sellick talk, just the usual stuff… Cheers BT…

Was the score 0-4 that game ?

Could imagine tensions would be high for that game.

You’re maybe being a wee bit harsh on posters. The elderly residents who go walkabout rarely venture abroad :-)) i think it’s great he managed to negotiate his way there and get photographed with 4 dolly birds on the way back! More power to him.

I like it, making it a statement of fact, letting everyone in Scotland support Celtic in that environment i.e. support your local team (e.g. Raith Rovers) in their local cups and leagues.

Raith ‘Rovers supporters, and everyone else, Your Champions League team is Celtic. Making sure everyone knows that is just how it is.

Scotland’s Champions League team is CELTIC.

Should be official. Can we get the word “Official” in there? Peter’s part of the SFA now – get him on it :

its a care home, not a prison!!

not a big fan of care homes, pay staff as poorly as they can get away with, not an excuse i know!!

ps. good luck to the old boy if he felt bound to make the trip.

  14. Aidenbhoy,

Had a few in the old Newmarket myself. Three buses would leave from there back in the day.

The perspective you refer to is bang on but I always come from the angle of my grandfathers generation . If they had the opportunity we do now they would never let up, given all that they were put through by the Govan club.

In some ways that’s why we owe it to the ones who went before us to keep pushing for better, always demanding the best. Because they earned it .

They dont make the national news.

My sis in law who has worked in care homes for 20 years assures me if it was her home someone would be answerable and probably sacked, if one of their residents went up the street without their knowledge.

Take your point. As per most things on cqn, the majority of people do not know the facts, only speculation. No idea if the auld yin pays £700 a week for home, but if he does, what were staff doing?

By the way, not getting at him. Total respect for him & rest of vets. My dad, 90, landed on Arromanches on D Day & rid this world of Naziz. Thanks dad xx

    …………………………..

Forgot to say respect to your Dad from me too. It’s unimaginable to most of us nowadays, the hardships that those men went through and the sacrifice that they made to ensure our freedom. Living under Nazi rule was not an option.

  17. I watched Honduras early this week against Turkey and they were rank.

If England struggle to score against them, then they may as well book their early passage home now.

Maybe there are others who do not wish to post all the ups & downs of their 90 year old da’s on cqn. Do not seek attention, me or him. I think what he expereienced, through no choice, would shame most. Don’t use the elderly for a cheap dig…i’m 50 in in 24 days!
