It’s probably rash to suggest Neil Lennon dismisses the inflated English market when trying to sign a striker in preference for the Continent. Europe has plenty of quality leagues, and gifted players, but it also has plenty of scouts.
The tops leagues enjoy blanket analysis, which has consequences. Our experience of Lassad and Miku suggests that if we can tempt a striker to move from the likes of Spain to Scotland there’s maybe a reason why. Even the secondary leagues, such as Slovakia and Poland, are scouted extensively by German clubs, who are the most desired destination for most East European players. The success rate in bringing targeted strikers to the club from Europe has been low, which had real consequences for this season.
So where does that leave us? Second tier teams in second tier (but still good) leagues, like Vitoria Guimaraes, who we bought Amido Balde from (strikers at top Portuguese clubs are aiming for the sky), go back to the English Championship, or maybe a peripheral league, like Sweden or Israel, again, or Iceland.
Celtic proposition is not without merit, we will now be touting Champions League football under the noses of every prospect, but finding a player capable of delivering the talent for that stage is the central challenge to the club.

I think Celtic should start preparing now and buy an English, an Israeli, a Swedish and Thorblood Skjoralot Dottorson so that we can hump “the rangers’ 7-0 next time they “show up” .

Just heard from my daughter tonight that WPC Kirsty Nelis nee Scrimgeour RIP, was from our area, and attended St Pauls and St Thomas Aquinas, my two schools, perished in the chopper. I knew I recognised her beautiful face. God rest your soul Kirsty.

Do you remember when the Rebels stopped the OO going down Whitecrook St? Some brave Rebs did serious time in Bar L for that.
delaneys,
Don’t remember that, possibly a bit before my time, I lived at the top of Whitecrook St for the first 11 years of me life.
I do remember one night I was standing at the bus stop across from the old co-op shoe shop, beautiful Saturday night, lad near me had the full regalia on, just minding his own business, next thing a car stops on the traffic lights and the five occupants exit the car and proceed to slap this guy about for 5 minutes, kicked him up and down the street like a rag doll, they just got back in the car and drove away as if nothing had happened though not before they asked me “how’s it goin big man!”.
Probably the only time that I felt sorry for one of that mob.

I saw a fair fight 4 on 4, one day outside the Signal Box in Temple. The four bandsmen got punched all over Fulton St, and their crimplene suits disintegrated, leaving them half naked.
Is there some karma love thing happening here or what

delaneys,
You keep some strange hours back there, are you on night shift?
AR
delaneys,
There was another morning, a Saturday in the early 80’s and I was heading up to Dalmuir Golf Course about ten o’clock, there was a massive walk starting from around the park, I’ve never seen so many drunks in the one place at 10 in the morning since the last time I was at the Ramelton reunion. At least the Ramelton drunks were dashingly good looking and humourous!

Aye bud, a nightshift worker.

Is that Ramelton, Donegal?
delaneys,
Sure is, I only went once in September and was drunk for the four days I was there, even while playing during the football match on the Saturday. I remember coming back from the Milford Inn one of those nights and back to the pub, still plenty of folks in there, got up in the morning and some of last nights heroes were still going struck. A great place!

Have never been. Derry or Letterkenny is as close as I got.

Ole Jobo – much more reliable than the BBC Weather site. That’s what I call dedication. Oh yeah!
CHARLES GREEN statements. Only one is true. Which one is it?
“I won’t quit Rangers until the Champions League theme music blares out over Ibrox”.
“We have allocated £10m for Ally to spend on players ”
“We can be very, very clear about how the money is going to be spent”
“We’ve also set in place a structure where Rangers are no longer a boom or bust club”
“We’ve acquired Edmiston House, which will be turned into a bar and megastore”
“I was a snake oil salesman”
” I’ve always said Craig Whyte was not involved”
“Neither of them had a role in Sevco 5088”
“Of course, what everyone knows, in the ensuing weeks, as the model unfolded, Sevco Scotland acquired Rangers, not Sevco 5088”
“Whyte didn’t pay money into my bank account”.
“£25,000 was put into my bank account”
“What I’m saying is, there’s no f*****g, there’ll be no trace into my f*****g bank account. But I’ll f*****g, but I’ll do it now, I’ll write it out now. I’ll give them a cheque for £25,000 from me.” He adds: “I’m the f*****g director of the company. I’m their client, I’ll give them twenty-five grand”
Actually, I got my own question wrong:-)

Celtic end ?
Wee lassie on Radio Scotland there reassuringly suggested we’re into the last hour or so of this storm. Sounded suspiciously like a forecast rather than a report mind you.
Still very wild here at the moment although I understand that the EK-Glasgow trains are running. Unlike me ;-)
If you come in past the reservoir at Milngavie choose a different route. Two trees down.
Morning all from the eye of the storm. Never seen the waves so high down here. Still dark, wild and very windy, of course.
Counting blessings, we haven’t had any snow as yet.
Cleared now.
proudbhoy,
I got a ticket just below where the away fans usually go, close to the 18 yard box, Da’s too old to be climbing up all those stairs.
Had a look on the site, there are plenty available close to the Celtic End but it’s not possible to select the section up in the gods.
Sector 428 has two seats together.
AR
Trains from Milngavie off by the look of it.
In a fantastic gesture for the sick in Glasgow at this time of year
Sick kids from the hospitals all over went to Ibrox tried to cheer up the sevconians in their hour of need
“It was the least we could do, for them. You should have seen their wee faces.” said a spokeman for the kids.
