Evidence mounts as Celtic look set to further improve

930

I’d a look at the fixture list preseason and didn’t expect we’d be top of the table so early, having played only three games with 10 teams having played four, and two of those games coming against our nearest challengers from last season.

But we stepped up to the task. The earlier win at Tynecastle and beating Aberdeen 4-1 on Saturday has issued a warning to all. Bookmakers are offering Celtic’s title odds of between 2/9 and 1/7, and have created a separate ‘Betting without Celtic’ competition. One of Brendan’s jobs will be to remind players that they need to earn the points every time the whistle goes. Defeats come quickly to teams operating at 95%.

Not that we had it all our own way on Saturday. Aberdeen disrupted our rhythm and passing in the middle part of the game. You can see how Brendan has changed the way we use the ball in possession, but there’s still a bit of work to do for it to become more natural looking.

The goals were outstanding. Leigh Griffiths’ effort would be immortalised in song, if one of the Barcelona players due to visit Celtic Park soon had managed it. Tom Rogic’s technique is of particular importance.

Celtic face a lot of packed defences; having someone able to reliably hit an unstoppable shot from around 22 yards changes how a defence will shape up to play us. This is a player Leeds United thought they could buy for £1m recently.

I was pleased to see Dorus de Vries make his debut. He had little to do, and could do nothing about the Aberdeen goal, but if he’s to be relied upon in any of the important games ahead he needed an outing as a Celtic player.

It was equally important Erik Sviatchenko came through 90 minutes with Kolo Toure. The defence is set for some almighty challenges ahead, and will need to face them with little common game-time to allow partnerships to be cemented.

There’s a degree of trepidation for the Champions League task ahead, but pretenders to our domestic dominance beware: evidence mounts that this is a good Celtic team – one which will continue to improve for some time to come.

  2. Looking at the boy Gamboa on his DVD,good lord, the pace this kid has is frightening.Great experience, and if he brings that pace to Scotland, will terrify defences.

I can safely say that you are DEFENITELY NOT a hun!

Your command of the English language is far too good!

  6. Looks like Paul and others who administer this blog have succumbed to the paranoia of some of the ‘better connected’ who post on here.

If there are some people of the ‘opposite’ persausion coming on to the blog, surely to God they can be handled with reasoned argument. To use them as a convenient reason to drive any dissent off the blog is censorship of the most obnoxious kind.

In life we all come up against those with differing opinions, it’s what makes life interesting and varied – pitting our wits against those who don”t always agree with us is a worthy pastime.

The mantra about “sowing discord” parrotted by some is utter rubbish – what they mean is that somebody is not ‘toeing their party line’

My views are always in favour of Celtic FC and the continued well-being of the club – I question the motives of particular sub-groups who would damage the club in the pursuit of their own narrow agenda – these sub-groups have demonstrated this trait on a number of occasions.

So after reading a published article attached to this site, I no longer wish to be associated with the blog. It seems obvious that a ‘crib-sheet’ agenda is required, with all subscribing, and those with critical and/or opposing views labelled as ‘trolls’ – how pathetic.

No anwers are reqired, as I will not be opening CQN again – however no doubt the “usual suspects’ will be registering their triumph in forcing a “troll” off the blog.

I was going to ignore this discussion but felt compelled reply when I read your post. I don’t mind being prey to the CQN attack dogs. I do object though when an eminently decent poster is being implicated in your agenda-driven onslaught.

Up until this morning when I read back on last night’s posts I had never heard of the Level 5 employee I am supposed to be, or to be associated with. Canamalar and Auldheid know who I am. They have both posted on here since yesterday evening when the Kill Ultra troll’ speculation first surfaced. Why didn’t they just confirm that they know my identity? Have a think about it!

Alfie Noakes, Fred Quimby, Horrid Henry, Mr Pastry, Mats Nilloc and maybe others I have missed.

  12. Just in from a smashing morning’s golf with Jobo, Marspapa and Kelvinbhoy. Jobo nearly had a hole in one at the last. He needed to win the last to make the game all square. Amazing what some bhoys will do to save 30 bob. Great day, lhads. Thanks for the game.

On the don’t feed the troll article

I think it’s been clear for some time that there has been a concerted effort to undermine issues like Res 12 and LNC

Whether or not Rangers are paying any PR company to orchestrate this , I have no idea. What is clear though is that if some aren’t being paid , then they have an awful lot of time on their hands.

How our community deals with it is a challenge. On Twitter I either block or mute . That doesn’t stop the serious trolls entirely as they just invent multiple user names. In the long run though most trip themselves up.

I’d endorse the article not to feed the trolls. They are not here for genuine debate. There are decent Rangers fans who are open about their position and who I’m more than happy to debate with

However if your starting premise is to try and fool me about which club you support , then you are wasting everybody’s time

For Costa Rica he always gets picked in spite of lack of football at WBA.

No wonder Lawwell was smiling last week. £30m on it’s way and changes to the CL format that will improve one Scottish club’s chances of getting through the qualifiers…….guess who?

Are King, Murray and Robertson just going to accept this ?

If we ever win the league again we will go into Europe with zero coefficient, no seeding and therefore no chance of ever getting through the qualifiers.

Has no one noticed, we are sleep walking into another Taig conspiracy and our board has nothing to say about it.

It’s not just the CL impact, if we qualify for Europa Cup we go in with zero coefficient, as a new team, not seeded and again will never get past the qualifying rounds. ……actually it could cost us money if lots of travel is involved.
