Extra week training in July has huge impact

2173

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

OK, another time maybe. I’ve got to go and read my statement received at 6pm as promised, thanks WC. Now please do not ask what it says friends, because you already know what my answer will be…

Aye. Res 12 need never have happened had our CEO-who is £5m better off since-asked the questions at the time.

Probably too busy playing Championship Manager at the time.

I am not going “Hun” on you and if I gave that impression I apologise.

I was merely trying to explain the impracticalities and the possible consequences of contacting “shareholders” ie presumably those who helped fund or signed the initial or subsequent resolution/legal mandate. There would inevitably have been leakage prior to the announcement and in view of the machinations to hinder publicity of Res12 allowed our enemies the opportunity to do damage limitation.

In a nice world things could be done differently but we have to be aware of, and counteract the scheming deviousness of implacable enemies. HH

  5. Well! Unlike some I’m not sitting around here waiting for the 6:00 pm wet fart, im off to the pub for a swally, when I have one tonight there will be no notice, it will go down as friendly fire, and I’ll head down the road :)) sayonara

  6. An Teach Solais my friend you are wasting your time – pearls before swine!! H H Hebcelt

  7. I bought the T shirt and the resolution 12 record.

I doubt anything of any serious concrete nature will come from it.

As for the anticipation that UEFA are about to announce that Sevco are a new club.

    Don’t hold your breath.

It is about the SFA’s governance and not the Rangurz.

It seems to me that the resolutioners are under pressure to show some kind of progress.

I hope I’m very wrong , but once this latest update is put through the PR spin of James Forrest and the other positive plants.

It will amount to jack shit.

Now I do hope I am very wrong ,

The resolutioners have my respect for trying and not giving up.

But if they really had a strong case Celtic would have publicly backed it a long time ago

    Here’s hoping I’m very wrong.

Thanks for the advice. I think that Ihave to agree with you. My best efforts have been in vain. Must try harder.

Whatever the outcome a magnificient effort by the. Resolutioners and they deserve our unequivocable gratitude. HH

Federer up a break in the third set after Raonic won the first easily. Think Raonic has the tools to win, and probably should beat Federer, but Raonic may just be lacking the belief at key points, whereas Federer has a self-belief that he can win, which only comes from winning.

The Murray fans on here should be happy. I think that, at present, Murray may match up better against Federer than he would against Raonic.

Funny how Federer is Scottish when he’s losing & British when he’s winning

  11. As far as I am aware, the Res 12 case is 100% rock solid, the fact that the club are choosing to do or say nothing is all about the money and not upsetting the hun.

  12. TinyTim –

Resolution 12 is indeed about the SFA and not Rangers. But it seems reasonable to surmise that, by way of explaining certain actions or inactions vis-a-vis the SFA, raising the issue of the club’s official status may well be their get-out clause.

That would be great , but I think time will prove my scepticism to be warranted.

    I hope not.

  14. Eagerly awaiting the res12 statement . I sincerely hope it’s not a damp squib , but we should all be grateful to the ghuys who stood on the front line to take them on .

  15. I am never happy about players leaving Celtic – it means that they have proved so good that they are ‘head-hunted’ by richer clubs (Ki, Hooper,Victor, Fraser & VVD), or, that they have not come up to the standard that we demand (Berget,Cole, Pukki, Scepovic, Bangura and CKR..etc)

There is another category, as outlined by Brendan the other day, that being where “the club has to protect itself” when a player aporoaches the final year of his contract, Stokes and Johansen are good examples. In such cases a free-transfer can be the hassle-free way out, as the particular player’s final year salary and expected bonuses must be paid from any transfer fee received, and of course transfer fees are paid in instalments over the length of the new contract.

As we move into a period of increased activity, I ask only that the malcontents and conspiracy theorists, who claim the Peter Lawwell decides all such matters, ‘haud their wheesh’ and let our new manager get on with his job.

Will the Res12 update be here on CQN at 18:00 or should we be keeping an eye on the news?

Is there even a news programme on at 18:00?

You’ve got to take your hat off to a mob that have won 5 world cups in 4 years…No? Think I’ll probably go and nail a zombie cocktail…….. apologies to monkeys and bassas everywhere

  21. Wimbledon authorities are considering a request to suspend play at 5:55 for 15 minutes to allow the players to read the Res12 article on CQN.
